Deep Thought-Dance Lesson
A few days ago, I was dancing, and a thought occurred to me. My dance teacher often instructs is on a technique called spotting that's used in pretty much every type of dance (except Irish). It basically means when you're spinning, you keep your head looking at a fixed point to the best of your ability. It helps you turn faster and keep on a straight line when moving.
So my dance teacher says something along these lines: "When you go across the floor turning, never forget to spot where you want to go. If you don't, you'll go in a wiggly line and you won't end up where you're supposed to."
That, and when I don't spot, I fall XD especially in pirouettes.
But this thought struck me, that spotting is a lot like having a goal.
If you have a goal, and you don't stop looking at that goal, you will get there, no matter how fast or how complicated the spin. If you have no goal, and you're spinning aimlessly, it's a lot harder to end up somewhere, and you get kinda dizzy.
Keep your eye on that goal. You got this.
