Dabi made his way through town, hoodie drawn low over his face. Not many people were ever really awake in the early husks of morning like this, although a few tired pedestrians stumbled their way to work and a few stray cars rolled along lazily. A couple was strolling toward Dabi at a leisurely pace, fingers intertwined.

Dabi pressed back into the shadows of an old alleyway to avoid coming in close contact with them. Most likely they wouldn't recognize him, but Dabi didn't want to push his luck. It was a fairly nice day and the villain hadn't wrapped his scars along his neck with a scarf as he usually did.

The couple's soft conversation reached Dabi's ears.

"You're the one who called me out this early in the morning."

"I know. " the other responded. "Don't you know what day today is?"

"Of course! It's your birthday! Why else would I ever wake up this early? " the two laughed softly before the one who had spoken second pulled their partner to a stop, directly in front of the entrance to the alley Dabi was hiding in.

The villain took a step back so he was hidden better. He really wasn't in the mood to kill anyone- he was far too excited and happy about where he was going today. Or, more accurately, who was where he was going.

"Marinette, I only want one thing for my birthday." the one who had pulled- Marinette?- to a stop said.

"What are you-" Marinette cut off sharply when her partner bent down in front of her, fishing for something in their jacket pocket.

"Will you-"

"Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!" Marinette interrupted, knocking the ring box aside as she knelt and pulled her partner into a tight hug.

Dabi took the moment of distraction to slip past them, wishing idly that he would at some point be able to have that, although it was highly unlikely in his situation.

Dabi knocked on the door of the hero's apartment. The door opened at once, as though Hawks had been waiting by the door.

Hawks yanked Dabi in, sending a feather to shut the door as he pressed a soft kiss to Dabi's lips.

Dabi chuckled. "Someone's excited," even though he was too.

Hawks shrugged, grinning happily. "I hardly ever have days off, I have every right to be excited."

The two curled up on Hawks' couch, The Spongebob Movie playing before them.

Hawks yawned and snuggled further into Dabi's chest. "Why'd you wanna come over so early?" Hawks mumbled, his breath ticking Dabi's chest. "I'm still exhausted from night patrols."

"You still had patrols?" Dabi demanded, incredulous. "I thought it was your day off!"

Hawks nodded sluggishly. "It is. But I always have patrols."

Dabi pressed a soft kiss to the top of Hawks' head, glancing up to see Spongebob and Patrick about to get stomped on by some cowboy fish with spiky boots.

Dabi laughed. "Hey Hawks, look-"

A soft snore interrupted Dabi and the villain chuckled again, tightening his hold on the bird and falling asleep as well.
