Knockoff Prince Charming

The snow was falling softly outside the window, wind swirling the white all around and making the snowflakes dance around. Fluffy white substance stuck to the ground and to walls, pillows of snow piling on window ledges and railings.

A burst of cold flew through Hawks' open window making him duck under his covers for warmth and send a feather flying over to the window to shut it.

Unfortunately, the wind seemed to be too much and since Hawks was half asleep, the feather didn't have any of its usual strength.

The chill in the room made the pro hero cuddle into his blankets even more, burying himself under the layers. Why he had left his window open the pro couldn't imagine, but he did know that it was too cold to get up and close the window and his feathers weren't being helpful.

Figures.

It took a couple more moments of sleepy thoughts following the "I'll just lay here a little longer and hope for the best" rule, for Hawks to finally send a stronger feather to the outside of the window and allow it to close the glass from there.

Once no wind was entering the room, Hawks felt his eyes droop shut once more and he fell into a deep slumber. He couldn't remember if he had the day off or not, but he didn't particularly care. He subconsciously crossed his fingers that he wouldn't have work, but there was no way the pro was that lucky.

Dabi and Toga continued their walk along the slippery back alleys toward a shady part of town where they could peacefully steal some groceries. It was very cold, but luckily Dabi wasn't really that affected. His body was made for an ice quirk so the cold didn't really bother him the way it might your average fire user- but Toga was a different story, even though she didn't have a fire quirk.

"A-are we al-lmost there yet-t?" The blonde girl shivered.

Dabi rolled his eyes. "Closer than we were the last time you asked. And I told you to bring a sweater Psycho."

Toga hugged her school uniform closer to her body as she kept walking. "Well sorry." she answered, annoyed.

Dabi sighed then stopped walking, bending down to dig for something in the snow. Toga stopped as well and stared at him with her usual grin on her face but a confused light in her eyes.

Finally finding something that would work, Dabi pulled an old potato chip bag from under a layer of snow. He began to heat his hands up slightly, making the bag steam a little.

"W-what are you doing?" Toga asked, shivering again. Dabi didn't answer, instead he just handed her the warm bag. "What d-do you want me to do w-with this?" Toga asked, her hands crumbling the bag as she squeezed it, warmth coming back to her fingertips almost instantly.

"Put it in a pocket or something. If your hands get cold hold it. I don't particularly want you to die out here."

"Aw, Dabi you care about me!" Toga giggled as she did as she was instructed.

"Hardly, sorry Psycho." Dabi answered, ruffling the blonde's hair and smiling slightly. "I just don't want to have to carry a dead body around or burn someone in the snow."

"I still think you care about me. " A suddenly much warmer Toga giggled, skipping ahead of Dabi happily. The older villain rolled his eyes before following, halting when he saw a red feather lying in the snow, snowflakes peppering the outline and making it sparkle in the sunlight.

Dabi crouched down and picked up the feather, examining it as he followed Toga. How peculiar. It clearly didn't belong to a bird as it was far too long for that. So who-

Well, well, well. Dabi thought, smirking slightly. I wonder... Can he feel it?

"Pro-hero Hawks speaking." Hawks answered the phone, his voice heavy with sleep.

"You're supposed to be at work in... Two hours ago. " Mirko said. "Your Agency called me because they're worried. So where the hell are you right now?"

Hawks stifled a yawn. "Home. I'll be there soon."

Hawks could almost hear his friend's amused smile. "You asshole, sleeping in. Should've called me I didn't want to come in to work today either."

Hawks laughed, still a little tired. "Yeah yeah. Lunch then?"

"Yeah. Talk later. Love you babe." Mirko answered.

They hung up and Hawks rolled out of bed to change into his hero costume.

As he was putting on his jacket Hawks felt a shiver jolt up his spine, like something was tickling his back. Weird.

"The fuck are you doing with that feather?" Shigaraki asked when he glanced over at Dabi, who was currently running his fingers along the edges of the feather he had found on the ground.

Dabi shrugged, deciding not to tell his boss about his theory. Dabi believed that because of how Hawks' quirk worked, allowing him to have complete control over his feathers, the hero should- theoretically- be able to feel it when someone was messing with a feather of his. He had no proof, but it was quite amusing to imagine Hawks struggling throughout the day trying to figure out what was going on.

- - -

Hawks found it significantly less amusing. The whole day he felt as though something was crawling up his back, like that creepy crawly feeling you get when someone's watching you. Mirko, of course, noticed.

"What's up with you? I get that it's cold but your shivering is a bit excessive." she said, glancing at Hawks, slightly worried.

"I don't know, I just feel like something's crawling up my back or something. Like someone is playing with a feather-" Hawks cut off quickly, his brain bringing up a foggy memory of that morning when he had sent a feather outside of his window to close it.

"Are you just not going to finish?" Mirko asked, annoyed.

"What? Oh sorry, no yeah, I just feel like there's someone playing with my feather but I bet it's just the wind and snow or something." that had happened before, the feeling would go away as soon as his feather grew back. That is, unless someone was actually playing with it, in which case it could take up to a month for the feeling to go away.

Deciding that no one could have possibly found the feather and decided, 'Oh hey, big red feather, I'm gonna play with it because it looks like a toy!' Hawks shook his head slightly and hurried to catch up with Mirko who was hurrying into a restaurant that happened to only sell sushi.

Hawks groaned, making a mental note to never let Mirko choose where they went to eat again, and followed the rabbit hero in for their meal.

Dabi allowed Toga to drag him out of the LOV HQ and to some random little restaurant that sold sushi, one of her favorites. It had taken quite a bit of pushing and shoving to get Dabi out the door since Compress had said that she could go there, but she had to bring Dabi with her. Dabi supposed Compress was the overprotective father of the League and Kurogiri the mother-

He wasn't really the first to notice that, Twice had once called Compress 'dad' and Toga always called Kurogiri 'Mamaguri', but this was really the first time Dabi had noticed how much like good parents they acted. He didn't really have that much experience with good parenting.

They walked into the restaurant, Dabi hoping that the glamour he had used wouldn't fade. Really all it did was remove his scars temporarily, the maker of the glamour had taken one look at him and decided he didn't really need a whole makeover.

Toga, of course, didn't need anything except some poor girl's blood. Toga was now about an inch taller than Dabi wearing a sweater and jeans, her eyes were bright purple and her hair a soft white like the snow outside, streaks of pale blue mixed into the hair.

"Table for two," Toga said, her voice distinctly lower than it usually was- Toga had a pretty high pitched voice.

The waiter nodded and lead them to a store, Dabi slipping his hand into his pocket where he had put the feather. He ran a finger down the spine of the feather subconsciesly, not noticing that at the table directly behind him, a blonde shivered at the feeling.

"It's close..." Hawks said under his breath. He felt that the feather was nearby, the way people felt a presence behind them.

"What's close?" Mirko asked, dipping some sushi into a bowl of Soy Sauce and eating it happily.

"Nothing." Hawks shook his head in an attempt to clear it. Guess someone decided a bright red feather was something to play with after all.

"Are you ready for the bill?" came the waiter's voice. Hawks shrugged, gesturing that it was up to Mirko.

"Mm- do you guys have any deserts?" she asked.

The waiter nodded. "Yes. And it's on the house."

"You really don't have to-" Hawks started.

"There's no need for that-" Mirko said at the same time.

"Nonsense! The number two and number five hero chose to come here- it's the least we can do for all you do for us!" the waiter exclaimed, her boss eagerly nodding from behind her.

Hawks shrunk down in his seat- she had said that very loudly, which meant they'd have people breathing down their necks in a minute or two.

"Erm, I have to use the restroom, excuse me." Hawks said, slipping past the waiter and her boss to the bathroom.

Electric blue eyes followed him, smirking when he shivered as though someone had ran a hand down his spine.

"The number two hero..." Dabi drawled, entering the restroom.

Hawks was leaning against a wall, seeming to be debating whether he should stay or leave.

"Um... yes?"

"I'm Dabi." Dabi said.

Hawks blinked a few times in confusion. Dabi offered no explanation, just continued. "This, I believe," he slipped the feather out of his pocket. "Belongs to you, yes?"

"What are you, a knockoff Prince Charming?" Hawks asked.

"Depends, are you Cinderella?" Dabi countered.

Hawks snatched the feather, unsure what he should do with it he just made it float next to him.

"I'm not saying that I'm a mass murderer. Why would Dabi come to a sushi restaurant?"

"Because he wants to eat sushi maybe? And based off your logic I'd be Cinderella, because you think I'm pretending to be someone when I'm not. I am Dabi." Dabi answered.

"Prove it." Hawks said, rolling his eyes.

Dabi lit his hand on fire, the blue flame reflecting eerily on the walls. "Is this enough proof for you birdie?"

Hawks wasn't entirely sure what to do in this situation, he'd never been in a bathroom, with a villain returning his feather to him and blocking his only exit.

"Um..." Hawks hesitated then allowed his feather that Dabi had oh-so-kindly returned shoot at the villain. It would have pinned the man against the wall if Dabi hadn't burnt it to ash in a second.

"Now, now birdie, I wasn't doing anything to provoke that type of reaction." Dabi said, smirking slightly.

"Then what reaction did you want?" Hawks demanded, another feather finding its way into his hand.

"A much different one."

The kiss caught them both by surprise.
