"Careful," Hawks scolded in a hissed whisper, pulling Dabi backwards before the villain could step on the pressure plate on the floor. If any of them made too much noise they'd be surrounded by heroes in seconds- Hawks felt inclined to mention that it was Shigaraki's terrible idea to infiltrate the Hero Commission base with Hawks as their guide.

"Why is this place so heavily guarded?" Toga asked, ever so slightly too loud for her companion's comfort.

"Shh!" Hawks, Dabi, Shigaraki, Mr. Compress, and Spinner chorused, in turn making more noise than necessary.

"Shut it," Hawks whispered again, his heart rate speeding up as he strained his ears for any hint that a Commission member was awake.

He knew how each of their rooms were set up by heart, and the part he was most worried about was the alarm on the wall behind their bed that would go off if anyone set off one of the many traps that were carefully wired all over the place. The part he was second most worried about was the phone right next to each member's bed with a direct contact synced to the top ten heroes that would fill their room with beeping and alert them to get to the Commission base immediately.

"Why is this place so heavily guarded," Toga asked again, voice hushed.

Hawks sighed softly. "Because there's no cameras. No Commission Buildings of high enough importance have cameras, so if someone breaks in-like us, right now-the Commission would have no proof. Meaning they have to catch the culprits red-handed."

Toga nodded. "I see. How do you know that?"

Hawks winced at the question. How did he know that? The short answer was simple.

When he was five years old his mom sold him to the Commission in exchange for her life back. Hawks then spent the next thirteen years training basically nonstop in a Commission building not unlike the one they were in now to become the perfect hero.

In other words, Hawks had no camera footage proof of anything that happened to him. He grit his teeth at the thought. The world just loved to screw him over.

"I just do," Hawks said instead.

Toga didn't say anything after that.

A few more minutes and hissed 'don't touch that's in and they were almost to the room where files on every hero to ever exist were kept-or, in other words, their destination. In other other words, the number one most guarded room in the entire building.

Hawks spread his arms out to stop the villains behind him. "Everyone be careful here. Step only where I step." Hawks demanded quietly.

"The voice level you did that in really ruined the effect." Dabi whispered, laughing softly.

"Sh!" Hawks said, heart rate picking up again as he carefully took a step forward. Hearing Dabi talk made him want to simply turn around and go home, cuddle into the other's arms and pretend he had never come back into this building.

Granted it hadn't been this specific building he had spent most of his life in... But it was so similar. It felt like someone was slowly digging a knife into Hawks' chest every step he took, slowly tightening the ropes around his wrists to tie him down and make sure he could never leave this place.

He just wanted to be trapped in Dabi's arms... where it was safe and warm and comfortable.

Hawks shook the thoughts aside and took another step.

The buildings were similar. Very similar. But not identical.

Hawks realized this as his foot sank in the tile softly, a tiny beep indicating a much bigger reaction on the way. It seemed like time stopped as every villain stared at Hawks. The very air seemed to be whispering: "Ah shit man, you fucked up."

Time seemed to shatter as ear splitting alarms sounded all around them. As Commission members awoke and surrounded them, panic coming off the villains and Commission members in waves.

A fight broke out. Hawks didn't even remember moving, but suddenly there he was, fighting in between Toga and Spinner. Pro-heroes made there way in at one point; Hawks vaguely remembered Mirko screaming: "YOU TRAITOR," at him.

And the fight continued, dust from disintegrated things beginning to clog the air along with ash from Dabi's strangely well controlled fire. The stink of blood washed over Hawks' nose and shrieks of pain and terror from both sides filled his ears like a sick symphony.

Hawks didn't even know how it happened, or who did it. All he knew was he was slashing at a Commission Member one minute and the next a knife was plunged into his stomach and he fell.

He remembered falling, because it seemed to take forever for him to hit the floor. His body just fell, and fell, and fell until suddenly there was contact against his skull and he hit the floor.

It didn't even hurt.

Oh, there. Now it did. Pain began to blossom from the wound as Hawks lay on the floor, the sick symphony still playing in his ears, the dust and ash still clogging the air and the blood still the most prominent scent in the area.

Hawks wanted to cry out from the pain, but he didn't have the energy. Had no one noticed him fall? No, he doubted they had. There was too much going on-

"Keigo!" Dabi's scream shattered Hawks' heart, it tore through the sick symphony and echoed around in Hawks' mind... No, Keigo's mind. No way was he about to die as Hawks.

Was that what was happening? Was Keigo dying? Weird... it wasn't scary. Just hurt a lot in his stomach.

Suddenly Dabi was there, cradling Keigo's head in his lap.

"Keigo... Keigo stay with me," Dabi whispered, his voice somehow reaching Keigo's ears despite the sick symphony.

Keigo opened his mouth to respond, to say he wasn't going anywhere, he'd never go anywhere, ever, but only blood bubbled out past his lips.

"Please Keigo, please stay with me. Don't leave..." Dabi begged. And Keigo knew that if the other was physically able to cry, tears would be flowing freely at that moment.

"Don't-" Keigo started weakly. "Don't be sad, Dabi."

"Touya, don't call me Dabi, call me Touya," Touya demanded, pain etched into his bright blue eyes.

"Don't be sad Touya..." Keigo corrected, smiling weakly and attempting to raise his hand toward Touya's face. Touya grabbed Keigo's hand, raising it to his cheek.

Keigo blinked in confusion at the blood splattered all over his palm and fingers.

"How-" Keigo tried to ask how it had gotten there, but more blood bubbling up past his lips made it impossible.

"Sh, Keigo, shh..." Touya said.

But Keigo couldn't 'Shh'. He just realized-he was about to die. In the same building he had always been trapped in, the one he had never been able to leave.

"Touya..." he breathed.

"Shh, baby, shh, you'll be okay just shh..." Touya interrupted.

"No, I-"

Touya shushed him again.

"Touya please," Keigo said, ignoring Touya's demands to be quiet and keep his strength. What strength? He was dying, couldn't Touya see that?

"Touya please... Get me out of here." he begged, tears filling his honey colored eyes.

"I can't be here... I can't be here when I die."

Touya winced, blood slipping down his cheek like a tear.

"You're not going to-"

"Please Touya...." Keigo begged again. "Get me out of here."

Touya picked up Keigo carefully, beginning to hurry out. The fight was still happening, but no one paid them any mind as Touya carried Keigo toward the doors.

Is this it? Keigo thought to himself, smiling. Am I finally free?

The doors were right there, just five more steps.

Just four.

Just three...

Two...

One...

Then nothing. It was gone. It was all gone.
