Interveiws with Flickerman Pt. 2
Jackson's POV
"So tell me Jackson, there are some intriguing roomers circulating that you and Kaytlin are some sort of lovers? Can you confirm or deny that for us?" Flickerman asked.
"No, we are not in fact in love and never have been."
"Well then is there another lucky lady back in district 4?" He inquired.
I could feel heat creeping up my neck and I cleared my throat nervously. "Well you know how it is I'm sure Ceasar, all the girls throwing themselves at us." I tried to laugh it off and I hoped the audience bought it. Ceasar threw his head back and laughed, "Well now, I might be getting a bit old for that..." he trailed off, clearly fishing for a compliment.
"Oh no, you don't look a day over 21!" I said, Finnick did say to suck up... right? Or was he saying not to... honestly I wasn't really listening.
Cesar flashed his signature smile and I cringed internally.
"Well then, moving on from your love life, have you got any family back home? Any siblings?"
My breath hitched but I forced a smile onto my face, "Well, I was one of the luckier ones some might say. I have a mom and dad and an older brother, plus another sibling on the way."
"But...?" Cesar pushed.
"But even though there was always food on the table, my mother saw me as a disappointment, my brother Evan is super strong and wields a sword well, plus he's got a girlfriend who cooks and cleans and all sorts of stuff so when I didn't turn out the exact same my mother and father saw me as the runt. I was seen as useless and a bit of a nuisance.
My brother was raised to think of me the exact same way and I'm sure the next one will be as well." Bitterness creeped into my voice and I swallowed back the knotted up lump in my throat.
"Mmm, sounds like a not so great household, where did you stay when you weren't with your parents though? Was there a aunt or uncle that didn't care what you parents thought?" He pried. In all of the reruns I'd watched I didn't remember him being so involved with the tributes about their personal lives.
"Well I have a friend, they're like THE best friend you could ever ask for. Their families not exactly rich but whenever I need a place to stay they let me sleep in a bed and double up with their siblings and their family feeds me as if I was their child. I honestly don't know what I'd do without Kaytlin and the Huxley's." I grinned.
"Ahh well I guess that does explain how close the two of you are. Unfortunately that's all the time we have with you tonight Jackson."
"This is Jackson Grey everyone!"
