Draco's POV
I clenched my teeth as I heard his voice, turning around slowly to face him. "Potter." I answered curtly. I gazed towards the youngest Weasley, once again heavily pregnant. "Congratulations to you both." Ginny smiled up to me "Thank you Draco." I was always surprised to how nice she was to me whenever our paths had crossed since the war. She had testified during my mother's trial, avoiding her a life sentence in Azkaban.
Potter and I hadn't exactly made up. I guess that's what 7 years of rivalry do to people, it prevents them from ever being friends. We were polite and only interacted when needed. Ginny, however, would always make an effort to talk to me whenever she saw me. "And what in Merlin's name is Draco Malfoy is doing in mugg.." I cut her off with wide, panicked eyes while grabbing Chloe and pulling her closer so that they would notice her. Ginny closed her mouth, looking at me apologetically while Chloe gave them both a warm smile. "I'm Chloé, nice to meet you! Are you guys friends of Draco's?" Ginny quickly replied "Oh, just schoolfriends." Harry gave her an amused smirk while I clenched my jaw. Acquaintances would have been a better word for it. But I guess coming outright with "Oh no these guys were just mortal enemies and they almost killed each other once." wasn't such a great introduction.
"Anyways, we were on our way back from Dean's. Dean Thomas" She clarified upon seeing I wasn't sure who she was referring to. I nodded politely, before looking at the pub. "And we were heading back to our building". Ginny gave Chloé a warm smile "Oooooh so you two are living together! How nice!" I turned crimson red while Chloé burst out laughing. "Ooh no, I only met Draco a few weeks ago. I'm his neighbour, and friends with his flatmates Blaise and Theo."
Ginny looked at me embarrassed once again and gave a pleading look towards Potter so that he would help her out. I didn't trust him one bit with making the situation less awkward, so I just kept going. "Anyways, they're probably waiting for us now so..." Potter caught on quickly and nodded "Right, we better get going too, need to relieve the baby sitter. It was nice meeting you Chloé." Chloé smiled softly before waving "And you!"
After a couple of minutes of silent walking, her voice brought me back to reality. "Your friends seem nice." I shrugged, making the snow which had piled up onto my shoulder fall on the ground. "They're not really my friends they're just... People who were at my school." I turned to her when I heard her laughing quietly. "What's so funny?" She shook her head before replying "I don't know, they didn't seem like the private school type... Wait, did they say they had a baby sitter? As in, they already have a kid?" Chloé gave him a horrified look which made him chuckle. "Two actually. One's adopted." She looked properly terrified "Jesus Christ, who would want to have kids, let alone this young?" I bit my lower lip while nodding "Oh well, a kid is not too bad I guess, but three and in your twenties yeah, that sounds rough. I guess that's how things work where I'm from."
Chloé looked at me in disbelief, shaking her head as we approached the entrance to our building where the others were waiting for us. "What, are you like part of the aristocracy where everyone gets into arranged marriages right after school?" I rolled my eyes, trying to hide the fact that I actually was, in a way. Instead, I nudged her towards the others "Go on Miss Judgy, we're late enough as it is"
