I only realised what time it was when I heard a knock on the door several hours later. I closed my laptop and opened the door to see Lydia excitedly putting her jacket on. "You've been holed up for hours now and we need drinks for tonight. You're coming with me to Coop."

I nodded before grabbing my pair of black combat boots and my thick winter coat. "You honestly look like you're heading out in the frozen Tundra". I raised an eyebrow at her "Don't come at my European resistance to the cold. It's terrible, I know, and you're a bloody superwoman raised in Northern Scotland so I can't even compete."

The grocery store was fairly busy, as most Thursday nights in London. Students trying to grab the best deal on crates of beer and frozen pizzas. I headed straight for the wine section on my usual mission, while Lydia strutted down the hard liquor aisle.

From our nationality to tastes in alcohol, we were drastically different. It was probably why we had become the best of friends so fast. Her outgoing and bubbling personality made up for my reserved and cynical one.

After looking at wine bottles for a couple of minutes, I finally found a couple worthy of my palate. I had been raised on good wine and food and moving to England made me look like a snob, always reaching for the expensive bottles.

As I turned around to meet my flatmate, I bumped into someone by accident. Startled, I took a step back and before I had the time to utter an apology, the man in front of me was sighing loudly. "Whatch where you're going, will you?"

I was taken aback for a second, eyeing him up and down. He was handsome, that was for sure. Platinum blonde hair, silver eyes, tall and what looked like perfectly in shape under black and seemingly expensive clothes. Made sense. All hot and posh guys had the same entitled attitude, at least in my experience.

I muttered a "Sorry" before walking off, adding a whispered "Prick" that I knew he'd heard, for I saw him turn around from the corner of my eyes. I didn't bother to stop and argue with him as I spotted Lydia waiting for me by the till.
