I stared back at Potter, clenching my jaw and squeezing my fists, trying to be as... pleasant as possible. "Just doing some shopping Potter. Hello Ginny." I heard Chloé saluting them with a small voice. I could tell she was embarrassed, as more people were now staring at us. When Potter grabbed my arm and dragged to a nearby alleyway, I started protesting. "Hey, you're gonna need a warrant to arrest me Potter."
"What the hell are you doing? She's a Muggle for Godric's sake!" He was pointing to Chloé who was awkwardly standing next to me. "Look Potter, you're not teaching me anything here. She just found out. And she's curious. Like pain-in-the-ass-curious, think like Granger. On speed." I turned to her to mouth a "no offense" her way.
"Look Malfoy, as much as I appreciated seeing you befriending muggles instead of crucioing them, how would you even think this is okay?" I tensed at the mention of the unforgivable curse. I hadn't told Chloé anything about the war. I didn't want her to find out this way. "Look Potter, I swear she's trustworthy. She's known for a bit now and still hasn't sold an interview to the Daily Mail." I could picture Chloé visibly cringing at the thought of ever doing anything for the Daily Mail.
I felt her hand on my wrist and turned towards her, nodding as she was silently asking me if she could speak. "Look, sorry I don't know your first name, and it would be rude to call you by your last name. I know you're Ginny though" she gave a smile to Potter's wife who replied warmly "This is my husband Harry." Chloé nodded politely "Right, Harry. So, I swear on anything I won't say a word to anyone. I've just been asking Draco so many questions since I caught him doing magic and my brain won't stop and everything is brilliant here and I even saw those little things called pigmy puffs and". She had to take her breath for a second and I resisted the urge to laugh at her excitement.
When she was finally able to breathe normally, she carried on. "Draco explained why this secret is so important and I completely agree. You never know who might want to use this against you guys, especially at the moment. Anyways, that's besides the point. Is there no like, magic trick you can do to read my mind and see if I'm being honest?" Before anyone could reply, Ginny interrupted us, getting closer to Chloé.
"Chloé, did you say pigmy-puffs?" Chloé gave her an excited smile "Yeah, they're like fluffy pink and purple...things. So cute." Ginny stared at Potter and I, pointing a finger to her head. "What's not working up there with you guys?" All three of us looked at her, expecting her to finish her statement. She groaned frustratingly before saying something so blatantly obvious I couldn't believe I had missed it. "Muggles can't see magical creatures. Not unless they've been told about them, specifically."
