43 : Toxic
It seemed like trouble stalked Trudy wherever she went - either that, or Trudy was the trouble.
Trudy just left the lovebirds - Eva and Ashton - to mind their own business, giddiness making her want to squeal in happiness and fist-bump the air. Her second plan over Eva was in full motion - a relationship with Ashton is exactly what Eva has been missing in her life - regardless of what Hannah West might think. Hannah couldn't control her daughter forever, and Ashton was so perfect that if Eva were to bring him home then he would be approved by even Hannah because he was that good of a material.
Trudy had a once over at Eva's outfit - the Ksubi Rise N Hi jean shorts, a white crop top, and one of Trudy's old nude high-heels that were basically new since she wore them once because nude didn't work that much for her because of her skin tone - and her now more edgier face since Evangeline somehow agreed to Trudy's offer of doing her makeup for her.
Eva was breathtakingly gorgeous, and Trudy wasn't even jealous because she was too busy being proud of her best friend.
Trudy didn't stay alone for much longer, since a tall - very clingy! - figure was walking towards her. Trudy felt a sense of déjà vu washing over her. She tried to escape him but her last experience with him taught her not to go somewhere isolated, so Trudy stood right where she was, planted in the heart of Ryan's party, hoping the asshole would just leave her alone for once.
Justin hovered over her with his hight, his doe eyes ramming over her body. "Looking good, baby." Despite Raven blasting the heavy music from her DJ stand, his hoarse voice was as clear as the disgusting glint in his doe eyes. Trudy didn't get to properly take care of her appearance despite wanting to fight back the rumors about her because she was too focused on making Evangeline look flawless that Trudy ended up wearing her usual to school - black original jeans, Dolce And Gabanna top, and her favorite Louis Vuitton boots - but it seemed like it was enough to woo the annoying Justin out of his senses.
Justin's filthy hands grabbed Trudy's elbow to guide her somewhere, but Trudy pulled against him. "Don't touch me!" she screeched, sounding like a wailing cat which made a few heads turn her way. So much for proving my worth, Trudy grumbled to herself.
Justin frowned, letting go of her arm but stepping closer to her. "I'm so sorry, baby," Justin breathed down her neck, his disgusting breaths sending shivers down her spine. "Please, we need to talk," he pleaded so smoothly that he would've sounded innocent and genuine to Trudy's ears if she hadn't seen him climax on top of her in Hunter's party before. "I don't want to do this here, people are looking."
Trudy's brown eyes scanned over the room, and sure enough a few wannabes that were hungry for gossip were watching the interaction with pure interest. Trudy puckered her plump lips, determined on proving her strength. This is my chance to fight back. Trudy pushed Justin away from her, stumbling his steps and feeding the gasps of the crowd around her. "No," Trudy hissed, "I don't want to talk with you."
"Baby," Justin's jaw ticked, his hands running through his curls of hair. "I really don't want to do this here, and neither do you, if you know what I mean - it'll ruin your reputation."
Trudy's eyes widened - she knew exactly what he meant. The moment Justin mentioned him in Hunter's party, Trudy knew Justin would use that against her. All the shaming and judging wasn't an enough punishment to Trudy, it seemed like, and blackmailing had to appear in that list as well. God, she hated Justin for his cheap ways, but mostly, she hated herself for her stupid mistakes.
With her head held low, she followed after Justin. Even in the loud party, Trudy could hear the whispers of Iliza and Flora - the major gossip girls - about her; she's horrible to him, she doesn't deserve him, she's such a bitch. If only they knew.
Trudy made sure not to get too far just in case Justin had something in mind. Justin guided her out of Ryan's house into a random tree in the lawn. Trudy would have been disgusted at the horny teenagers sprinkled around and kissing the air out of each other's lungs, but in that moment, Trudy was glad they were there because they would hopefully intervene if Justin tried something.
Trudy looked at Justin, having a proper inspect on him ever since Hunter's horrible party. His nose was slightly crooked, his lips were busted, and the skin around his eyes was a bit blue despite his tanned skin. It seemed like Zarek's punches really left their affect on him. Serves the bastard right.
"I don't mind," Justin said when he noticed her looking at him, leaning on the tree as his doe, lost eyes gazed at her. "It makes me look tough, so it's fine by me, really, don't beat yourself over it."
Trudy had to stop herself from expressing her satisfaction at his bruises. "What?" Trudy snapped, the eerie night significantly quiter which made her voice come out louder than Trudy intended it to be. Trudy didn't regret her tone since it made Justin flinch. "Why did you drag me here, Justin? What do you want from me?" Trudy didn't want to be in the dark, cold night having this conversation with her ex that should've left her life a long time ago while a party was in full swing a couple of meters ahead.
"I'm sorry I dragged you here using your past," Justin sighed. "You've been avoiding me a lot lately and it was the only way I can talk to you."
Trudy crossed her arms over her chest to protect herself, she soon uncrossed it when Justin's big eyes shifted to her breasts. "There's a reason for that, genius."
Justin took a step forward and Trudy almost tripped when she took not one, not two, but three rushed steps backwards to keep her distance which made Justin's eyes soften and stay back, hurt crossing his bruised face. Trudy hated her instincts because it made her look weaker in Justin's eyes more than she already was.
"Hey, please don't fear me," Justin presumed his leaning position against the tree, regret shadowing his demeanor. "Please, I-... I miss you, Trudy."
"Justin, don't," Trudy warned, not wanting to hear his usual sappiness. "This is not why I'm here. You said you'll talk about-"
"Your past, I know, I'm getting there," Justin interrupted, letting out an annoyed huff. He shook his head, snapping himself back into character - it was so professional and seamless that it put Trudy's bottling techniques to shame. Justin's doe eyes glistened in that innocent way that would have melted Trudy's insecurities if she didn't know any better.
"I don't care about your past, Trudy." Justin sighed, serious and apparently very sincere. "I don't care whether you're a virgin or not, I don't care about your middle school relationships, or anything else. I love you, Trudy, for who you are, not what or how you were."
Trudy's dead heart did a back flip at the words she had been dying to hear almost all her life. Yes, Trudy was complicated and hostile and guarded, but all what she ever asked for was mere understanding. She never wanted money or social status or any of those superficial things - they never lasted anyways - what she wanted was love, the kind of love that made her grandfather Arthur Green marry his father's maid, Rose Murky, despite the things that were at stake.
Unfortunately, no amount of money could buy her that sort of thing.
She had been craving that indeed but never from Justin. He was just like her past relationship, Justin was a different kind of mistake but a mistake nonetheless that she would only look back to and cringe at. He was so adorable and cute in the beginning, so agreeing on going out with such a wuss was beyond Trudy - maybe because he had a thing for Evangeline? But then again, everyone seemed to have a thing for Evangeline - and he was so toxic now, so staying with him was beyond Trudy as well.
Justin took a step forward, visibly relaxing when Trudy didn't flinch and push him away. He took that as permission to hold her elbows, swamping her with his intense eyes. "I know I messed up, baby," Justin cooed, his head low due to his tallness and Trudy's shortness despite wearing six-inch heels, making some of the soft curls cover his forehead. "I messed up so bad, but I know I can also fix what I did. I can fix you - you just let me in again and you'll see."
Unwanted tears rolled down her dreamy eyes, drowning Trudy in her insecurities and self-disgust. "No," Trudy choked out, "You hurt me so much, I can't go over that again."
"Trust me. I fixed you before and I can do it again." He stared deeply at her, the lost look having crept back in his gaze. "I know I said this like a million times, but, God, I love your eyes - they're so dreamy I just want to look at them all day."
Just like that, Justin managed to swoop Trudy's insecurities away. He did find her missing pieces and mold her broken parts back into place before. Justin offered her so much unconditional love and comfort, and for a while, he was her home. That sweet dream never lasted, he unravelled himself to her as their relationship progressed, and Trudy could find some nasty scratches in what she once thought was a perfect picture of her boyfriend.
Justin was toxic, feeding her insecurities to keep her around - which was the worst thing someone could ever do to another because mental scars were things no one could really heal from. Trudy already had some in herself, and like a rescuer, Justin came and bandaged her open cuts and waited long enough for them to close only to reopen her old wounds, resulting in nastier and deeper scars.
Trudy didn't know if he did it on purpose, or if he had a mental disorder of his own, but this - whatever it was - had to end.
Trudy's tongue was knotted, words stuck in the back of her throat. She didn't want to say anything, the memory of when she tried to cut things off with him was playing vividly in her mind. She didn't know how violent he could be, since he was totally unpredictable in The Spring Ball when this all started, so Trudy was baffled from fear.
Justin pushed Trudy's wavy hair away, exposing her neck which made his eyes darken. "I know you're not ready," Justin gulped, containing his desire and focusing on his sentimental speech. "And I know you probably don't feel the same way for me, but I'm gonna change that. I'm gonna prove to you that I'm worthy of your love, and that I truly love you."
Justin wasn't a horrible boyfriend - if someone were to ignore the mental abuse he put her through, the clothes' ripping, the hair pulling, and the forced kisses, of course. Justin was protective, possessive, clingy - which could be cute to an extent - and he always remembered her whether by texting her silly jokes, good-morning messages, or showing up at her house with some much needed chocolate. However, while Trudy agreed to most of his speech, something wasn't quite right - it sounded too familiar.
"Those words-" Trudy shook her head. "-you said them before."
"Which proves my point," Justin's grip on her elbows tightened. "I didn't want to tell you this before because it was going to be a surprise for our graduation, but I planned everything for us. We'll be going to my family's university - Harvard - and I can manage a dorm for the both of us. We have a serious, long-lasting relationship, baby, so we'll obviously move in together, and-"
Trudy stared at him, plump lips parted. "You're delusional," she muttered, still in awe at how unrealistic Justin must be. "Understand that I broke up with you. Get it in your head. Wake up, Justin!"
"Okay," Justin nodded, lips pressed in a tight line. "I never wanted any of this, but you're leaving me no choice, Trudy."
"What are you talking-" Trudy didn't even get to finish her sentence, cutting her own self when she whimpered in disgust. Justin licked her neck, his disgusting tongue leaving a wet trail of saliva behind him. "Get off me," Trudy screeched, but her voice was too weak and restrained - as fucking usual.
"God," Justin groaned, his mouth still on her neck. His lustful eyes closed as his arms wrapped around her waist, forcing Trudy into an unwanted tight hug. "You can't believe how long I've been wanting to do this," Justin pressed her harder against him, feeling the fullness of her breasts on his chest. "You feel so good, baby, so, so good."
Trudy went a stiff body, tears wetting Justin's curls. She didn't bother fighting him off anymore - Justin was crazy, he needed to be locked up in a mental facility as soon as possible because he completely lost it. Feeling her unresponsive, Justin pulled away slightly to smirk at her.
"I'm allergic to chocolate, baby," He oozed out, "But I don't mind a taste of you." His long tongue licked her sensitive neck once again, electricity shivering his entire body.
Trudy didn't know whether to scold him for his racism or for his inappropriate invasion of personal space, because his mouth was already making its way to her plump lips fpr one of his saliva-filled kisses that Trudy knew too well by this point. Justin had forced enough kisses on Trudy and this wouldn't be the fourth. Trudy's muscle memory must've awakened from when she pushed Zarek at the mall, because her body acted on its own - and for once it was in her favor - and kneed Justin where the sun didn't shine.
Justin cried out a muffled sob. He clutched at his family jewels, falling to the ground. That could've been Trudy's cue to run away, but she didn't. She was so tired of hiding, of constantly being chased, she needed to end this because it could literally end her otherwise.
She stood over Justin, screaming at him. "You're an asshole!" Trudy attempted to kick him in his stomach but she feared she would lose her balance - she was wearing six-inch heels, standing on wobbly grass, and she was woozy from anger and frustration. "You're so disgusting, just leave me alone already, goddammit."
Trudy immediately shut her mouth closed, watching warily as Justin stood up on his feet. Trudy kept eye-contact, something those self-defense classes taught her while dealing with a predator. Slowly, Justin circled around her, a lethal glare on his face and a slight limb in his steps. By the time Trudy figured what he was doing, the bastard pushed Trudy to the tree right behind her.
"Playing nice won't cut it for you, huh?" Justin's character was dropped, displaying his real face where no trace of innocence was left in his no longer doe eyes. "You just have to get it the violent way, but you love it, don't you, slut?"
She didn't know what he would do to her - although all the red flags were there. She tried prying his hands off of her but his arms were too strong and his grip was like a claw. Trudy's only escape was to yell her signature scream - it was so loud that she was sure all of Ryan's neighborhood heard it. The horny teens around her finally caught on to their scene. Trudy knew she had just made a bigger fool out of herself when she should've been working on building back her social status, but at the moment, she didn't really care as long as Justin would get away from her.
Justin flinched once again at her ear-deafening scream. Perplexed and actually annoyed, Justin let go of his hold on Trudy and took a step back. He shook his head at her, looking down at her as disgust taunted his bruised face. "You're done for," he spat the words, "I don't want anything to do with you or your crazy sister anymore."
Despite Justin walking away from her and leaving her alone, she felt like a piece that she didn't know she had just break inside of her. She wanted Justin out of her life, but she also wasn't ready to lose the guy who loved her for four months. She didn't want things to turn this ugly between them, they started out so innocent and sweet yet it ended up twisted and just sad. Not to mention, Justin, the one who used to fuel her confidence, just admitted that she was done for - aka crazy.
Trudy mended whatever courage enough to face the drunken curious stares that just witnessed her downfall and boasted herself back inside the party. Trudy thought that she was dead inside, yet with every step she walked she felt random parts of herself shatter around, banging to be out, and there was only one way for that to happen - puking her guts out.
Trudy walked around in Ryan's sad version of a house before she finally found the bathroom. She swung the door open, ready to empty it all out and have some sense of relief, when she was met with Ryan - the birthday boy - making out with Janie. Trudy quickly closed the door, glad they didn't hear her due to the blasting music and being lost on each other, and retreated herself out of the house again, since she was no longer in the mood to party.
Trudy was Eva's ride. Somehow, Trudy's parents didn't mind Trudy partying without Sandra since they trusted Eva, and so did Trudy. Thinking about Eva was the only reason that stopped Trudy from crying. Never did Trudy think she would find her happiness in her friend, but it seemed like time really had the ability to change people. After all, it changed her in both - the bad and the good.
Despite her sensibility with her best friend, it wasn't enough to stick in that suffocating party. Sending a quick message to Eva, Trudy left the party, ready to go hide in her magnificent room and puke in her diamond embellished toilet seat, again.
