Lenky
Almost five months had gone by, since Jane had been taken away. Tan had already forgotten all of that. Of course, Jane wasn't her real mother. But so many things had changed. Tan had changed. She wasn't that sensitive kit who needed special care all the time anymore. She was independent, wild, playful, self-confident. She had lost all her fears. But she still remained kind and protective. Specially with Lenky. He had never recovered from that night, and that talk with Galaxy. The old bi-color tom had caught a disease two months before and unfortunately had come to die. It was time, though. He once had told Lenky his age: He was 20 years old! In cat age, this is almost a hundred years. It's true, Galaxy was now dead, but his words were still echoing in Lenky's thoughts. He kept thinking about what Galaxy had said: "The humans did this to all those cats, and will continue to, if someone doesn't stop them." What did he mean with "if someone doesn't stop them."? Did that mean something could actually be done to stop the humans?
Lenky was outside his cage, thinking about this, when Kento and his gang appeared. "How you doing, mommy's kitten?" he said, with a sound of laughter. Lenky sighed. " Not now, Kento. Go away." "Why? Missing your pitiful picked mommy? Or just being such the crybaby we all know you are?" "Good one, Kento!" said one of his "friends". "Shut your fat mouth up, Tuft!" Shouted Kento, anger glowing in his dark brown eyes. "So, Kento." started Lenky. " Came just to bother me, or do you have something interesting to say?" Kento started to laugh. " What? Trying (ha ha ha) to defend yourself now? (ha ha ha) You can try, mommy's kitty! But you'll never make it!" "Yeah? Says who?" Replied Lenky, standing up and revealing being taller than Kento. Despite that, Kento still kept his laughter face. " You can't fight all of us together." "Let's see!" Lenky unsheathed his claws and stretched his body, ready to fight. He let out a growl of pure anger and... "Stop that!"Said a voice right behind them. They all turned to face it, and saw Tan. "I said, stop that. You're behaving like wild animals! And Kento, get away from my brother. You have nothing to do here!" Instead of turning back and going away, Kento jumped in Tan's direction. It seemed she was already expecting that. Then, she dodged away from him, and, instead of landing on Tan's back, Kento hit his head on the ground. When he got up, Tan slided on the ground and scratched his underbelly with her front claws. After that, while he howled in pain, she jumped onto his back and bit the back of his neck. He shook her off in fury, shouting "You will regret this!" Then Kento turned away and ran to enter his cage. His gang followed. Tan was panting. Then she sat down and started to lick her paw. "Cowards..." she whispered. "Tan, you really didn't need to do that for me. I could handle him alone" "Oh, could you? Then, sorry. I was just doing my job as a sister. You're my brother, after all." She let out a disapproval sigh and continued: "By the way, you shouldn't let him bother you. Just ignore it." "You don't really understand, Tan. Half of his words are true. I miss Jane." "I know, Lenky, but... *sigh* we're just not kittens anymore. You have to get over that..." "It's easy for you to say!" Lenky's face suddenly went angry. He gave Tan a frustrated look and continued: "She wasn't even your mother!" Tan unsheathed her claws. "Say this again, you piece of rotten meat, and I'll claw your nose off!" "See? Sometimes, I really find it hard to believe you see me as your actual brother." "Maybe you can't see me as your actual sister!" "You know what? Maybe I don't need a sister at all!" At this words, Tan looked shocked and heart-hurt. She started to back away, while giving Lenky sad looks. Lenky tried to apologize: "I-I'm sorry Tan..." "No, Lenky! Just get away from me! You never saw me as your sister. You never really loved me!" Tan turned away, crying, and entered her cage.
Lenky watched as Tan curled herself up in the cage, crying softly. He knew he had gone too far with the arguing. He felt a tear running down his cheek, and walked to his cage. Then, he overheard for a second : "I saw the fight... ... ... ...Tan's moves... ... ... ...perfect for the battle..." He shook his head. Either he had gone crazy or... this was the tall human's voice! He turned his head to where the sound had come from and his worries were confirmed! There was the human, talking to the female, showing the same "I don't care about the cats" face Lenky had seen five months before. He stretched his ears to hear the talk. "Avery, I think it's time for us to put the microchip into Tan's brain. Can you do this tonight?" What? No! They were going to pick... Tan. Oh, this was bad, bad, bad, bad, baaaad. He had to warn her! He went out of his cage and ran into her cage's direction. She was still lying down in the cage. "So, Lenky. Came just to bother me, or do you have anything interesting to say?" She said, on her best ironic tone. "Oh, Tan, I'm really sorry..." Tan interrupted him: "Apologies can't cure eternal scars. Do you remember whose that quote is, Lenky? It's your mother's. So go away and leave me in peace. You've done enough." "Tan, I... " "I'm not hearing. Just go away!" She hissed. "I'm trying to warn you..." "Warn me? About what? My non-blood connection with you? The horrible sister I am? I'll say it one last time: GO AWAY!!!"
There was nothing Lenky could do against these words. He padded away and walked back to his cage. She sealed her own destiny, he thought. There's nothing I can do about it. He would regret that.
Kento
"Are you sure we should be doing this, Kento?" The soft and stupid ball of fur next to Kento asked. "Just shut up and follow me, Tuft. We have to be sure they'll capture Tan tonight. Let's go". They had been able to sneak out of the room. Kento had to admit to himself he was a little scared: He had never been out of that room before. No cat had, in fact. Only those who were picked, of course.
But they had never got back to tell the tale.
Kento had got an idea from something he had heard from the humans. He had heard one of them saying they were running out of tranquilizer for the cyborgs. He didn't know what that meant, but it seemed it had something to do with taking animals away to turn them into cyborgs. He had a plan: He would sneak into the place where they stored the tranquilizer, steal some and put it in Tan's food.
Kento had told Tuft his plans. Of course the fat coward refused to go at first, but Kento had been able to convince him. By... threatening him of clawing his ears off. Simple. Everybody does that, right?
They were in a hallway, a very long hallway. Lots of doors opened and shut, letting many humans out. Kent and Tuft had hidden behind a potted plant, and were waiting for an opportunity to come so they could discover where the tranquilizer was. Suddenly, a human entered through the door right in front of the plant. She was muttering to herself: "But that dingo had to step on a needle now?! *sigh* Let's just go get that tranquilizer quickly!"
Hearing this words, Kento immediately knew where the tranquilizer was. He and Tuft waited for the moment the human finally got out of the room. They carefully approached the door, and, after checking if there were any humans in there, they sneaked in.
