(A/N: As some of you might have noticed, I did inspire the lynx tribe in the Warrior Cats clans.)
Saluky
Saluky watched as Acer took the prisoners to the den. He stood still, watching Natus' slow pace. His cousin was quiet and stern.
The leader stood there for a while, thinking. Natus had never liked him, but Saluky held a secret: He looked up to his cousin. What a shame. Saluky, the great new leader of the Tribe, looked up to his younger, less experienced cousin. The lynx always thought Natus was more happy, brave, strong than himself. He wished they could've had time to play and show each other the world when they were kits. Saluky remembered those times. They hadn't been very happy for him. He had been lonely, hardly noticed by any of his Tribemates. Since Bellus, Natus' best friend, had been born, the two cousins hardly looked at each other. When Balthazar, Natus' father and leader at the time, left the Tribe with his cat mate, things begun to change. The lynxes looked at Natus differently. The young lynx was the next one in line to become leader, but, with his father's betrayal, the lynxes begun to question his authority.
Saluky then took this chance to take Balthazar's place as leader. Alongside with Arbor (his father, and Herba's brother), Acer, Eucharis (his mother) and some other lynxes, Saluky claimed the leadership of the tribe as his own. However, he still had to choose a second-in-command. His obvious choice was Acer, a strong and loyal lynx, who had been Saluky's only friend and maximum supporter. But there was Natus. Saluky felt pity for his cousin. He wanted to redeem himself for driving Balthazar off and taking his place as leader, when it was Natus' right. And, deep in his heart, Saluky still loved Natus. So he made the young lynx his second-in-command.
And there he was. Taking care of the tribe. But still hated by Natus.
The leader shook his head, snapping out of his thoughts. He turned back and walked into his den. Saluky entered the large crack on the rock and looked around. There was a dead rabbit next to his nest, probably left there by one of the in-trainings. The lynx laid down on his nest and took a bite of the prey.
Saluky tried to occupy his mind with something else. He started to think about the prisoners. They seemed pretty weird. The lynx had seen the dog when he was little. He used to live on a den next to the Shouting Crow hill, but he had been missing for a while, so they assumed he was dead. Well, apparently, they had all been wrong. The dog really wasn't a problem. But the cat was pretty suspicious. Something about him didn't seem right. He looked too much like a lynx, not an specific lynx, but a lynx in general. And the fact that he had come from the lab didn't make it less suspicious either.
At the end of it, Saluky just assumed that the cat could be a weird breed. The lynx then chose not to worry about it any more, and curled up himself to sleep. His last thoughts before he fell asleep were if Natus was ever going to forgive him.
Natus
"What do you mean?" The lynx asked, shocked.
Lenky, the cat prisoner, had just told him they were half brothers!? How could this be? How? Natus couldn't believe it. It was impossible!
"I mean it, Natus! I'm the kit that caused this entire mess! I'm their kit! The son of Balthazar the lynx and Jane the cat! I'm a hybrid, and also your brother, you believe it or not." The cat went on.
Natus stared at him with disbelief.
"What is going on here? I heard yelling. Is something wrong, Natus?" They all heard the sound of Acer approaching them.
Natus shook his head to look less shocked.
"It's nothing Acer. Everything's fine around here." He answered, trying not to sound annoyed.
Acer narrowed his eyes and unsheathed his claws a little bit.
"You sure about that? Because I'm pretty sure you're not that worthy of trust! Let's not forget who your father was! If I could say myself, you three could easily be plotting a escape right now, isn't that right, you petty piece of a second-in-command!"
The golden lynx yelled.
Natus growled, unsheathing his claws and launching himself at the golden tabby.
"I've waited too long for this! I will claw your fur off, you pitiful excuse for a lynx!" Acer hissed.
"Over my dead body, you great bag of fox dung!" Natus sharply replied
"I'll show you what a REAL second-in-command is like! You wouldn't handle a fight against a blind rat cub!" The golden lynx snapped
The lynxes fought fiercely, like a golden and brown smudge against the dirt, spraining dots of blood around the dusty ground. Eight paws and two jaws battled violently, opening cuts and bites along the soft skin of both the strong felines.
Lenky
"Should we do something?" Lenky quickly whispered to his canine companion.
"If there is something I have learned through the six years of my life, is 'never get into a fight that has nothing to do with your business'. Trust me, friend, I know what I'm talking about." Fang replied.
Lenky nodded.
The lynxes kept fighting for what seemed like an eternity, but at some point, Acer was able to disable Natus out of his paws and immobilize the brown feline against the ground. Both were breathing sharply, and despite Natus's struggle to get free, the golden tabby was still able to keep the brown lynx held tightly on the ground. His face showed an evil and satisfied grin, despite the burning pain from the generous number of cuts around his body. He raised his right paw, sharp claws shining on the light of the blazing afternoon sun.
"Let's put an end to this." He whispered to himself, though everyone heard him.
"Make it quick, then." Natus spat.
"Don't worry, you dirty rat." Acer hissed. "You won't feel a thing"
Then Lenky suddenly realized what the lynx meant. Acer was going to kill Natus! Not that it actually mattered to the hybrid, but he was shocked by the way he was going to do it, sternly and coldly.
Suddenly, Lenky's familiar instincts kicked in. Without thinking, he jumped over Acer, claws unsheathed, in an jolt of pure fury, howling like crazy. The cream and brown tabby didn't even give the golden lynx time to think. In less than one second, Lenky was biting the lynxe's neck furiously, sinking his sharp teeth into the rough skin. Blood ran out of the new wound, and Acer fell to the ground, coughing the red dense liquid out of his throat. Choking, and hardly breathing, his body was trembling, until it was completely still.
Acer was dead.
