Prowl's hearing
Once more, another trial. And this would not be the last. And this was a big trial. Prowl's trial. Someone you'd never expect to be arrested now sat in a courtroom ready for his hearing.
"All rise for Judge Rodimus"
Everyone but Prowl stood. He would have if he could but he had been in a wheelchair for weeks. Ratchet thought it would be a while before he would walk again. "All may sit" Rodimus said as he took his seat. "We are brought here today to look at the crimes of Prowl"
Silence swept the room. "Prowl, where is your lawyer?" Rodimus asked as all optics fell on to an empty chair. "I have none, if it is allowed I'd like to defend myself" Prowl responded while not meeting the gaze of the young prime. "I'll allow it" Rodimus replies as he took out a datapad. "Then we'll start with your opponent then"
A mech stood, having the resemblance to the dead Cyclonus, but went with the name Bip. A made up name of course.
"Prowl, he's done wrong in his past." Bip walked around what was the "stage area" to get a better view of the room. "Most don't understand what he did, nobody will, he's a mech who cares for himself."
"He's accused of what again?"
"Oh many things your honor"
"Do you mind listing them?" Rodimus asked patiently. He had not wanted to attend this trial. But it was us duty. "Of course" Bip smirked.
The file read:
Prowl- Autobot
Crimes:
-murder
-abandoned fellow autobots in battle
-blackmail
-loading Overlord on the lost light
-robbery
-deaths of many wreckers
"Prowl is a selfish mech, sure, he may be married to Prime and had a daughter with him" Bip paused. "But we've had spies for decepticons among us just like the case with Brainstorm, how do we know he's lying about being all proud and would risk his life to save his team?"
The shift in Rodimus's faceplate seemed like he was already convinced. "Everyone knows of what a certain 'affair' with a decepticon seeker" Bip chuckled and sat back down. "What motivation would he have other then 'I'm tired of this'"
"It's just a matter of time before he shoots us all and brings in the next war" Bip smirked feeling confident. "I rest my case there"
Prowl held on to the desk and stood as best he could. "I'll admit to my mistakes." He sighed as Sideswipe rushed to his side and helped him stand. "Yes, I had an affair behind the back of Optimus, but I confessed to him the first second I got, I told him."
"Yes I loaded Overlord on the lost light and yes I caused the deaths of wreckers.." Prowl looked down, tears were falling. All the hidden stress hit him. "You can't separate a mech from his will to live but years of war can separate you from your sanity" he breathed hard. "I was afraid, Overlord was someone who could kill Optimus and I wanted to protect him. I wanted to make sure no one else died, everyone knows not all autobots are accounted for"
Taking his crutches, Prowl began limping. "Someone who's never been afraid stand up" Prowl smiled as no one stood up. "We've all been afraid. We've all made irrational decisions based on fear"
Everyone nodded. "But was I in the wrong for wanting the war to end? Was I in the wrong for thinking of children?"
"You got Rewind killed!"
Stares fell on to Chromedome who had been sitting in the back row. "No, I made sure not to tell anyone that there was no lower deck on the ship, you let him out." Prowl sighed. His strength was purely on making sure he staid standing. "I know what I did was wrong, but you can't look at me in the optics and say that in the four millennia of the war that you never held a gun and shot another Cybertronian just because they were decepticon"
"I'm stressed, I have work and family to think about, I have criminals to hunt down and capture and you're telling me I'm in the wrong?" Prowl stared at Bip. "The war is over but Bip stood here talking about not wanting war"
"Ideas lead to protests, protests lead to revolution, and then finally war takes its toll" Prowl straightened. Turned around and looked at Rodimus in the optics. "You once got Optimus killed, you can't tell me you have never felt guilty on things like this"
Pure silence fell through everyone as Prowl sat down. Rodimus sat there, quietly for fourth minutes.
"Prowl has been....found innocent" He sighed in pure relief from the thinking. "Prowl will not be charged and will be free to go"
