Sept
The quiet was tense, nearly painful to the point that she was experiencing difficulties breathing she could not remove her eyes from the patterns that graced her skin standing out proudly in the warmly lit cottage home. She dared not move, for at any second they would react, the pack was ready to fire questions at their elder and fellow pack member.
A groan sounded from her lap and she glanced down just in time to see Seth waking from his short-lived slumber. Not wanting him to feel the tension, she sought to quickly diffuse it.
"Who is set to be running patrols?" she questioned them, eyeing each person slowly for effect. No one moved until she raised a single brow. Paul and Quil both wiggled about, the pair shared a quick glance as they avoided looking in Aleida's direction.
"Go," Sam ordered the two- eyes not leaving the patterns that had intricately swirled around her.
The boy grumbled as they rose to their feet, shuffling out the door and shooting Aleida distasteful looks. Though she did not look their way, she was aware when they let out a terrified shriek when she pulled the wooden board from under their feet.
They left quickly after that, the others lingering around her in anticipation. Seth remained quiet on her lap as he slowly woke up and Emily hovered in the door way- holding a plate of food for her. The curiosity was heavy- sickening even.
"Shall we get started then? Eat first, talk later?" Aleida offered. "Because It will be important for the Elders and possibly the Cullen's to be present, and I will need to send out a message as well."
Dropping the blade to the ground, she held out a hand towards the food and greedily began to eat when it was placed close to her. She was starving- her body yearning for food to make up for the consumption of energy. Basic knowledge had taught her that food meant living and energy.
Seth stared up at her with wide eyes, and telling by the looks on the rest of the boys faces-Aleida was well aware that Emily had served her more than the rest and she made a note to thank the woman profusely later on.
Slipping a piece of meat from her plate, she handed it to the young boy. His excitement at being presented a simple piece of food was heartwarming. She could imagine herself one day with a young child of her own with boyish features like his and eyes full of wonder.
She could see herself with a baby, young and sweet and full of life held close to her bosom. Skin soft and wisp of hair, she would hold small fingers in between her own and place delicate kisses to tiny palms as giggles sounded around her.
Smiling fondly at Seth, she brushed a hand through his hair and placed a kiss to his forehead. She fed him food from her plate, ignoring the protest of the others that told her to eat.
"I have a sword, you going to tell me what to do, Embry?" Aleida questioned, Brando glowing brightly at her touch.
"Nope, no ma'am," he stuttered. "As you were."
Aleida hummed softly, the sound light in the back of her throat. Picking at her food between giving Seth mouthfuls, she tried to sort out what she planned to say. She wanted to explain everything fully but he had no idea where to start.
"Perhaps one of you should go and get an elder, and another the Cullen's. We will need to place ourselves somewhere that we can all speak freely- a neutral ground," the dark-haired beauty spoke, mulling over man things in her head.
A low mummering ensued as Sam began to give orders to the others, telling them to get things done quickly.
Once the food was finished, Seth helped her stand to her feet- her muscles still aching and body soar. Her arms held faint bruises and her skin bore burn marks that look as though they were branded onto her skin.
Grasping her blade in her hand tightly, she held it tucked lose tot her side and carried it with her as she guided Seth from the house, few members of the pack trailing close behind her.
After a small argument on how they were to travel, they finally managed to convince her to climb into Sam's truck for the short ride to familiar clearing that they had used to fight the small army of vampires a few months prior.
The entire ride was spent in silence as Aleida clung to the door for safety, fear filling her because she absolutely hated driving no matter who has behind the wheel. As soon as they slowed to a stop, she was flinging herself from the contraption and relishing in the feel of the earth beneath her feet.
The Cullen's were already there when they arrived, Embry standing with the others across the field. Leah had appeared among the group, the female shifter jumping with joy and sprinting across the field the moment they appeared- followed closely by the bear of a man.
Emmett reached her first- large, muscled arms circling around her waist tightly and pulling her tiny body close in his arms. She could feel him shake beneath her touch, his cold skin leaning into her as she brushed the tips of her fingers along the plains of his perfectly sculpted face.
His face leaned into her, foreheads pressed together and hey breathed in the sensation of the other. He ducked his head in first, lips capturing hers passionately- a reassurance that she was present in his arms, that she was real. He tasted of the sweetest honey, her tongue delving further to catch all that was him.
A groan left his lips at the feel of her pressed against him, her hand tangling in his soft curls and mouth angled on his. Her tongue pressed into his mouth, twinning with his own and the touch of her rove him mad- head spinning crazily as though he hasn't breathed in years.
Aleida pulled back, a shaky breath sucking in between bruised lips- her chest heaving and Emmett moved back in, this time slow and gentle. His kisses soft and brief, a brush of cold against warm in quick succession. Tantalizing in the way it made her lean forward, wishing to further the contact.
With a sigh, he leans his forehead against hers. Both silently taking in the sight of the other, Emmett with his eyes crazed and wild, Aleida with hers glazed and lips bruised.
A clearing of a throat caused her to lazily roll her head to the side, catching sight of the Quileute's and the Cullen's watching the two in clear shock. She gave them a sheepish smile but made no move to remove herself from his arms.
"We have things to discuss, don't we?" Aleida remarked. "Are the elders coming or is his a 'we tell Sam and he tells them for us' sort of thing?"
Sam huffed, crossing his arms as he stood near with his pack. His face a regular neutral mask, one that he placed whenever a vampire was around.
Leah still stood nearby, glaring at the vampire that held her. Sighing, she tapped his shoulder urging him to put her down. The shifter rushed forward right away, arms wrapping around Aleida replacing the cool sensation that had seeped into her.
"You're so stupid. Why do you always do stupid things for that leech-lover?" the Clearwater snapped, tightening her hold on Aleida microscopically and angling Aleida further away from the vampires.
"I didn't simply do it for Bella. It was dangerous for all of you, the Damned are horrible creatures and I got rid of it," she explained, rubbing her hand along Leah's back in a motherly fashion. "I wouldn't have let it kill me, honestly, have a little faith please."
"Faith!" Embry barked from across the field. "You nearly died!"
Growling, Aleida clenched her fist and pulled it towards her abruptly. From his spot, the ground beneath him pulled away and he fell on his back in the dirt.
"Embry, why don't you just shut up?" she shouted at him.
He groaned from his spot, slowly standing to his feet and tossing a look over his shoulder. "Yup, just gonna keep my mouth shut. Sorry."
"Aleida," Sam scolded as the pack laughed around him, the Alpha shooting them silencing looks. The girl nodded, pulling away from Leah she stood up straight and brushed her hands on her shirt.
"Long story short, I found a Damned camping out in the woods and it attacked us and I killed it then nearly died. These markings, the burns, they are the injury that you receive when it touches you- the degree of harm you attain depends on how strong it has grown," Aleida reported. She watched as curiosity filled their eyes and she jumped in realization.
She moved to the truck, pulling open the door and picking up Brando carelessly she turned around, waving it to the people watching her.
"This is a blade forged by the gods in pure sunlight, a weapon to fight of the evil creatures that only my kind can wield. This specific weapon has been named by me, making it so that it will only follow my will and command," She added, slowly settling back in the center of the field. "Forging such a blade makes me a soldier to the gods, one that must reply to their call if it is ever needed."
Brandon was spun around her fingers expertly, not once did the sharp blade cut her. She was not experienced in using weapons, but this one was made by her own hand specifically for herself. A strong bond was formed between the two.
"What of the vines on your arms? What oath did you make to earn those?" Carlisle inquired.
Her head shot to him, her expression portraying her shock clearly and she bowed her head at his knowledge.
"I did not mean to make an oath, though it is unavoidable now. I have sworn myself as a protector to the reservation, binding myself to them. If I fail in protecting them from the damned, no matter how much time has passed, then I will surely fall," her reply was simple but the reactions it caused were loud and angry.
People shouted at her, yelling at her for being foolish with her life but it didn't bother her. Instead she looked to Emmett, he was angriest of all, his body contorting as he tried arguing with everyone at once.
"Em, I might have to leave for a short while."
Everything stopped.
