The waves crashed against the cliffs in the distance. The push and pull of the water was rhythmic and relaxing, but in no sense was in safe.
She was secure from her spot on the beach. Perched on a piece of drift wood, she hugged her jacket close as she was assaulted by the cool salt water breeze.
Leather was new to her, but it made her look amazing. All of her new clothes did. She owed Alice for that.
"Hey! Erath to Aleida!" the girl in question snapped her head toward Embry. The boy had been talking about something but Aleida had no clue as to what that was.
"Yes?" Aleida spoke sweetly.
She stifled a laugh as Embry rolled his eyes.
"I was trying to have a serious conversation," the shifter scolded.
Nodding, Aleida turned to face him. Her back faced the water. She continued to feel the spray against he exposed skin but she pushed it to the back of her mind.
"What's up?"
Embry pulled at the bark of the wood beneath them. His heart hammered in his chest. Every nerve pushing him to run away.
"Well you see," the boy forced out. "The pack has been worried about some things."
Aleida frowned in confusion but nodded for him to continue none the less.
"The thing is, they all want to know if you're planning to be-become one of them."
The words rushed out of his mouth quicker than she could comprehend. She sat still as she it slowly started to register.
"No, absolutely not. No way!" Aleida stood in a flurry, her head spinning. "You don't think he wants me to, do you? I can't be one of them, would that even work?"
Aleida paced on the sand in front of the visibly relieved boy.
"No, he wouldn't do th-"
"I can't be one of them, Call. A filthy leech relying on blood to live."
Embry stood quickly, taking the flustered girl by the arm. He stopped her, forcing her to face him.
"He wouldn't do that to you," the shifter spoke slowly. "He loves you, right? HE would be fine with whatever you decide."
The earth wielder breathed out a heavy sigh, her head still reeling. She pressed her head against the boy's chest, shuddering every few seconds.
"I feel silly," she mumbled.
Embry snorted and slung an arm around her shoulder, leading her back to the log.
"You called him a bloodsucker," a new voice spoke. Aleida glanced and sent a glare to the boy.
Paul sat on the remaining space at the Elder's other side, a wide smile on his face.
"He is, is he not?" she questioned the pair. "He drinks blood, if that is not off putting then I don't know what is."
"I guess we're just on time for this conversation then," Paul laughed. From her other side Embry groaned and place his head in his hands.
"What conversation?"
The boys exchanged looks, both edging the other to start first.
"Well, when two people really love one another, they sometimes engage in certain activities." Aleida stared at Embry in confusion. His cheeks grew darker by the moment. Next to her, Paul tried to stifle his laughter.
"What are you talking about?" her voice raised as Paul continued to laugh.
"Sex, he's talking about sex," Paul added.
Aleida's eyes widened impossibly, her mind running a mile a minute.
"I know about that, procreation is important." She stood from her place and backed away slowly, her hands raised in defeat.
"We don't doubt that you do, but it's rather different than when you learned it," Embry's voice was soothing as he too stood up, walking slowly towards the girl.
"We just want to explain things, so you're prepared." Paul called to her.
Her feet steeped on the ground carefully, shoes were unfamiliar to her. Her steps were calculated as she tried to think of a way to escape the boys.
"How is it different?" She hissed to them.
Embry looked to Paul, causing the boy to grin cheekily. Aleida backed even further by the look on his face, not liking where this was headed.
Paul patted the place next to him, "Sit down, little one, the master will teach you."
Aleida ran from the pair as fast as she could.

"No! You better let me go, Lahote, or I swear I will hurt you!" Aleida threatened.
Paul laughed from on top of her, he wiggled around, rubbing his behind into the middle of her back. From a little way away, Embry's snorting could be heard.
"He'll continue telling stories until you say you understand," Embry advised her.
"I have plenty more stories to tell," Paul taunted.
"I understand, I understand! Please stop!" she cried, struggling beneath the boy. "I do not need to hear any more of your excursions."
"Do you promise to be safe? Because he can easily kill you," Paul questioned, the boy losing all hint of playfulness.
Aleida stilled beneath him, her hand patting his leg awkwardly. "I'll be fine, boys. To be honest, you probably scared me out of those activities."
She breathed in a relieved sigh as the pressure was removed from her back. A hand was shoved in her face to help her to her feet.
"That's one way to do it," Embry chuckled.
Aleida glanced around and found herself somewhere on the Quileute side of the treaty, the woods were thick. Overhead, the sun peeked through the trees.
"I have patrol to run," the girl ground, baking away from her pack mates.
"You don't have to run patrol, let one of us do it."
She shook her head, distancing herself further. "No offense, but I do not want to be near either of you at the moment."
"I take offense to that!" The shifters shouted after her.
"I am incredibly thankful that I do not hear either of your thoughts."
