Kannamma's POV!

Today is monday, one of the tiring😞 and least liking day for almost everyone! I'm not an exception!

I lazily got up and took shower. Then I went to hall to have breakfast. Oddly, everyone ate their breakfast in silence but my mom and dad exchanged eye conversation which they wished that I'll never notice but I noticed everything keenly.

"Enna vishayam nu sollunga! Romba nerama enkita marachu kannala pesa kashta padringa.. So enkitayum solita pesa easy ah irukum la?"

(Spill the beans! You all are trying hard to talk with your eyes to conceal something from me.. So if you share with me means, it'll be much easy for you all to talk, isn't it?)

I said while stuffing my mouth with chappati. They exchanged caught looks to each other. I know something fishy!

"Athu vanthu da kannu!"
(Ah.. That is... Kannu!)

My appa said which increased my suspicion more! He usually speaks in a flow. He is not a person to stammer while talking and he'll say if someone is stammering means, something is definitely wrong with them. But now.... Why he?

Alert Kannamma!

"That?? What??"

I asked him.

"Ennanga vanthu poyi nu iluthutu irukinga! varan vanthurukunu pattunu sollunga!"

(What are you blabbering that and this! Tell that some marriage proposal came!)

My amma told making my blood boil!

What the hell!!!

"What!!" I yelled and choked while swallowing the piece of chapati.

And my siblings are also shocked as same as me.

"Maa! What's this? You didn't even informed me about this? Why?" My anna said little loud with mixed expressions like shock, surprise, disappointment and little anger.

"Because, we know what is good and what is bad!" My amma said with her authoritive voice!

Monday morning can't be more worse than this!

"At least you should have informed me mom! At least... At least... I can cross check about the groom na! As a brother, I have the responsibility in my sister's life!" My anna said with a little hurt! Poor mughil!

But what he said is not right! As a brother, he have to ask me first whether I'm okay or not, ryt?

My mom and dad saw each other with confusion and then laughed! What are they actually up to?

Are they gone mad or what!?

"Mughil..🤣😂 you thought we are talking about kannamma's marriage? No actually.. We are talking about your marriage!" My mom said which relaxed me a bit!

But wait! What!!! Mughil anna marriage???

"Oh mom! That's it ah! I started thinking unwanted things you know!...... Wait! You said about my marriage??? You are kidding ryt?"

My anna said disbelievingly.

"Ama mughil! Un kalyanatha pathi than pesurom. Nethu namma kadaila en palaya frnd oruthan ah paathen.. Avan enaku romba close friend. Apdiye pesumbothu, na ungala pathi sonen. Avan avanoda pasangala pathi sonnan. Avanuku oru ponnu iruka, maapila paakanumnu sonnan.. Nanum apdiye pechuvaakula unakum kalyana vayasu aiduchu nu sonnen.. Avan odane avan ponnuku unna ketutaan. Nane first shock anen una mathri. Apram, sari un amma kitayum ungakitayum ketu solrenu sonnen.. Ne enna solra mughil?"

(Yes mughil! We are talking about your marriage only. Yesterday, I met my old friend in our coffee shop.. He is one of my close friends. We discussed about his family and ours. He said that he is searching for a groom for his daughter.. I too said that you are also in a age for marriage.. He immediately asked me your hand for his daughter. I too became shock at first like you. Then, I said that I'll discuss with you and your mom and will tell him.. What's say mughil?)

My appa narrated the whole story. My anna didn't open his mouth. He just sat rooted.

"Appa enaku puriyuthu! Ana Kannamma iruka pa.. Avalukum 24 vayasu aguthu. Avaluku kalyanam pannama.. Enaku first pannanum nu solringale.. Yen? Enaku ipo vendam pa.. 2 varusam pogatum.. Kannamma kalyanathuku apram na pannikren!"

(Dad I can understand! But, Kannamma is there.. She is also 24 years old.. Why are you asking me to marry before her? I don't want to get married now.. After 2 years, I'll get married only after Kannamma's!)

My anna said worriedly. But why he is dragging me in this? If he don't want to marry means! That's okay! But he is trying to push me into that marriage grave before he being pushed! That's totally rubbish!

"I can understand your worries my son! But Kannamma needs time to overcome everything and we should give that time to her. And speaking about you, already astrologer told that you have to marry before 29. You are already 28 mughil. We can't delay your life for your sister. We are parents for both of you. So we consider about both of your goodness. We didn't said you to marry tomorrow. Just if you are ok means.. We can proceed further."

My appa told calmly with a smile. I just felt blessed for having such a understanding parents and caring brother!

"Haiiiiiiiyaaa! Apo annanuku kalyanam!College cut adikalam.. Puthu dress vangalam..  Puthu makeup kit vangalam.. Nalla soru sapdalam! Yayyy!"

(Wowwww! So my brother is going to get married! I can skip my classes.. I can buy new clothes.. New makeup kit.. And I can eat good food! Yayyyy!)

My little devil jumped in excitement.

"Ama d! Epa paru soru.. Makeup.. Mothala unna packup panni anupanum! Kuttychaathan!"

(Yeah! Anytime food.. Makeup.. We have to pack and marry you first! Little devil!).

My anna said irritatedly. She twisted her mouth pouting little. I chuckled at them.

Then after that, I went to my office. Jo smiled brightly seeing me. I took my seat giving her a smile.

"Jo... Uhm.. Actually.. That.... My anna.."

I stammered. I need to apologize for the happening. I mean calling her husband as hottie or whatever.. But here I don't know how to convey it.

"Don't say your going to apologize me for the hilarious things that happened friday?😂🤣" She said while laughing.

Huh!! Now what can I say?

"Yes Jo.. I'm going to apologize for that day. I really didn't mean it.. No I mean Surya is handsome.. But I didn't drool him.. I mean I just said that to irritate my brother.. And.. About my sister.. She is just crazy like me.. I mean.. I'm not that much crazy.. But sometimes.. Huh!!"

What the hell kannamma!! You are embarrassing yourself again with your stupid talks! Now she'd have confirmed that you are crazy mad girl!! Damn!!

But instead of glaring me.. She laughed like crazy woman.

"Seriously kanns! You are too cute when you are nervous! I swear if I'm a man, I'd have hugged and kissed you! And about your apology, you didn't do anything wrong. It's natural to check out someone good looking. In fact I too check out someone who are handsome to my eyes. It's not a sin. But hearing your apology speech.. Seriously I want to hear it again only to enjoy your cuteness! Awww!"

She said with a 'Aww' face. I literally blushed at her words. No one said that I'm looking cute other than my family members. Most will mock me or will advise me to do exercise and follow diets or lectures me how bad and unhealthy is being fat.

"You are blushing kannss! Aww! See! Your cheeks are pink! You are such a cutie pie!" She cooed me while pinching my chubby cheeks.

Then after that, I shared her about my phne call to that scam. She literally rolling on floor while laughing hearing my curse words.

Okay! I agree! The words are little weird from usual cursing.. But when you think deeply into each words, it will be horrible than they heard. Like leftover upma is one of the horrible things I have ever experienced. Upma itself is horrible! Then imagine about leftover upma! Horrendous ryt?

I searched the scam number to know his name in my system. Just out of curiosity!. His name is Mani!

Mani nu per vachathuku bathila sani nu vachrukalam!
[Instead of naming him mani, they should named him sani(god who gives miseries)]

I mentally cursed him and I casually took my mobile to delete his number. But what got my attention is horrified me to the core. The last number of which I saved and what is in my system are different.

Which means am I called the wrong person!??😳😳

You are really crazy kannamma!!!!!

Gasp escaped my mouth. Jo saw me concerned. And asked me what happened. I told her the reason. I thought that she'll laugh like before. But she widened her eyes.

"Oh my god kanns! I really pity the one who attended your call. It's ok. Just leave it girl! At least he didn't know your number ryt? Then no problem!" She said casually and shrugged.

I nodded thoughtfully. But inside, I too feel like that scam call! In fact, in his perception, he too felt like me when I received that damn mani's call, ryt? I feel bad for the unknown person! Now I feel like I'm the dumbest person in the world. Okay am I exaggerating?

Jo is ryt he didn't know my number. So let it be!

I shrugged off my thoughts. Time went by thinking about that unknown person!

I took my bag and keys from my table ready to leave from office. When I about to took my scooty, my mobile started ringing. The screen flashes my mom's number. I placed my mobile over my ear. She asked me to buy some groceries and toiletries which she texted me the list.

God! I hate this! I don't know how to buy this all especially veggies and groceries! Whatever I buy, my mom will surely find a flaw in that!

Sighing heavily, I made my way to the supermarket which is in my way to home. When I lift down from my bike locking it with my keys, I walked to the entrance. But what I saw in the middle of the road stopped me and made me ran towards the direction. There is a woman whom looked like in my mother's age was standing middle of the road with 2 wooden handle bags(katta pai) closing her eyes. The car and buses are sped up passed her.

I quickly ran near her and dragged her to the side. We both panted heavily because of the stunt we did before.

"Are you ok ma?" I asked her. Tears welled up in her eyes. She hugged me tightly.

"Thank you so much dear! I don't know what'd be happened if you are not here! I felt little dizziness while crossing the road.. I think it was due to that I skipped lunch today. Anyway dear, I'm so thankful to you!" She said in a go. I patted her back to calm her.

"Ma please.. You are elder, don't thank me! It's my pleasure to help you. Think me as your daughter. And please don't skip food hereafter! Okay?" I said with a smile.

"You are too good... By the way, what's your name dear?" She asked me.

"Kannamma!" I said. She smiled.

"My son's love and obsession!" She said immediately. I looked her confused.

"I mean your name da! This is Bharathiyar's wife name ryt?" She said after biting her tongue in a 'oops' reaction. She is really cute!

"No ma! You are mistaken like everyone. His wife's name is Chellamma and he mentioned his wife as Kannamma in his poems and quotes." I said. She nodded with 'ohh' face.

"Oh! Leave it dear! He.. I mean my son is craziest fan of Bharathiyar and he is obsessed with the name Kannamma! That's why dear.. Okay.. By the way, did you finish your shopping?"

She asked me sweetly. I pouted telling my problem in shopping these things. She chuckled and helped me but after I made her drink tender coconut to shoo her dizziness away!

Then I went to my home biding her adeiu! I placed the things which I bought or should I say that sweetie aunty helped me to bought. My mom checked everything keenly.

"Paravala Kannamma! Adhisayama ellame crt ah vangitu vandhuruka!"

(Not bad kannamma! You bought everything crtly which is like a wonder to me!)

My mom commented to which I rolled my eyes. Then after that I had my dinner and went to my room. Nature calls me now.. But when I tried to open my washroom, it was closed. Maya is inside. I waited patiently for 7 mins. But still she didn't came. Being frustrated and impatient to empty my bladder, I went to another room where mughil anna is there.

He is not in room. I think he is in hall may be. I don't care. I immediately went to the washroom and emptied my bladder. I left a relieved sigh.

When I about to open the door, I heard sounds of my anna and appa. Usually I'm not interested in eavesdropping but now I'm curious to know about my brother's opinion about marriage.

Well! Curiosity killed the rat!

"What's the matter pa? Why are you dragging me here, that too without mom's knowledge?" Anna asked curiously.. Even I too.

"I want to talk to you something important!" My dad said.

"Tell me pa! What's it?" My anna asked calmly.

"Mughil! I know you are shocked to hear your marriage proposal in morning.. And I want to discuss it with you alone.."  My appa paused for a minute and continued.

"Don't get me wrong okay? I'm just asking this to take decisions.. Don't hesitate to tell me anything. I'm your dad. So I'll never go against your decisions okay?" My appa asked him.

"Appa! You are talking like you are going to enquire as if I murdered someone!" My anna cracked his stupid joke. But nervousness is clear in his voice.

"Haha! No da! I want to ask.... Are you in love with someone? If you are means, just tell me who she is. I'll talk with her family. I respect and believe your selection and decision. I know your mom will not accept love marriages as she is old-fashioned. Don't mind her. I'll find a middle ground with her. I just want my son to lead a happy and lovely life. Tell me da!" My dad asked casually but I can feel the restlessness in his voice.

Silence! What's happening there?

After few minutes, I heard the loud laughter of my anna. I wondered as is he gone mad hearing the marriage proposal!

"Appa🤣😂! You thought this is the reason why I refused😂! But sorry pa, I strongly disappointed you. I never loved anyone pa! Be cool! You just asked me like buying a new dress, so I'm confused and shocked to react. That's why I denied. But thinking that deeply, I can't be a bachelor for the rest of my life ryt? I should marry someone sooner or later. So why not give it a chance right? I'll agree pa. I'll see the girl and then we'll decide what to do next. Don't think much okay? Now go and take rest!"

My anna gave his long reply. Then I heard my dad's sigh. Probably, he'll be smiling hugging my brother. I heard the door close sound.

My appa is always great!

I forward my hand to open the washroom door and stopped when I again heard the door opening sound!

"Amma! What are you doing here?" My anna asked my amma.

What she is doing here?

"Mughil! I want to talk to you something important!"

De ja vu!

"What mom? Any problem?"

"No mughil! I just want to ask you something. I know you don't want to get married now. But I want to clear something." My mom asked with tension in her voice.

I know where it is going!

"Yeah! Tell ma! You can ask anything!" My anna assured her.

"Are you in love with someone? If you means, just tell me who she is. I know you didn't pick wrong girl. I believe in your selection. I'll talk with your dad and her family. May be your dad will never agree to love marriage as he is little old-fashioned. But I'll make him agree okay? My son's happiness is more important to me" My mom said.

Again I heard laughter. I know my anna is enjoying their talks as much as I'm.

"Ma 😂🤣! Why are you even think like this?🤣 No ma! I don't love anyone and I made decision about this marriage proposal. I'll see the girl okay? Then we'll decide what we can do! Don't stress yourself ma! Take rest!" This time my anna shorted his speech.

"Huff!! Thanks da mughil! That's a relief! Good night pa!" My amma said.

Within few minutes, I heard the door closing sound. Now my turn.. I opened the door but widened my eyes when I see my brother in front of me.. I mean in front of the washroom door. He widened his eyes.

"What are you doing here Kannamma?" He asked little loudly with shock.

"Bathroom ku enna dance adava varuvanga! Ellam iyarkai alaipu than!"

(Did you think that I came washroom for dancing! For Nature call!)

I shrugged casually taking seat in his bed.

"When you came?" He asked me.

"Before appa!😉" I winked at him. He sighed.

"So my anna is going to get married!" I let out a sigh.

"Correction gundus! I just agreed to get married!" He said. I chuckled.

"Okay! Do you have any expectation about your wife?" I asked him curiously.

"Hmmm! Nothing much. I don't mind her looks. But she have to adjust with our family. She should treat you all like me. I don't want a wife alone for me but additional daughter to our parents, a sister and frnd for you and maya.. And last but not least, loving wife for me." He completed.

"Tounnn... Da.. Tounnn da.. Tounnm da tounnn.. Ta da dounnn.... *Nayagan theme music 😉*... Enna da ne.. Wife epdi venum nu keta.. Nayagan kamal mathri emotional ah pesi kolra! Unkita poi keten paaru! Ne lam athuku sari patu vara maata!"

(What are you bro? I asked about how your wife should be.. But you are talking like a emotional hero! Why I even asked you! You are not capable for that!"

Saying this, I walked to the door. He threw the pillow at my butt. I groaned and threw back to his face. Now he groaned!

I went to room and slept thinking the day happenings include that unknown person who attended my call and the sweetie aunty and of course about my brother's marriage proposal!
