Chapter 30
{Reader's POV}
My heart pounded inside my chest as Jack held onto my wrist. His claws carefully avoided puncturing my skin and, as soon as I noticed this, a blush crept onto my face. I smiled warmly and gazed at the monochrome clown's face. It was conflicted with worry and uncertainty, but I knew it was because of me.
Jack and I confessed to each other and, as we kissed, it sealed our fates forever. There was a string of destiny tied around us and we weren't planning on cutting it off.
"Master! Lizzie and Tariq spotted a few guards up ahead as they were crawling through the vents! We need to diverse before we end up like sitting ducks!", Jamie shouted over the deafening sound of the alarm. Jack nodded his head and unconsciously tightened his grip on my wrist.
"Alright, you heard Jamie! A fifth of you stay and the rest follow me!", Jack commanded over the deadpanned children. We swiftly turned into another hallway and continued to race down to find our next exit.
Jamie pressed his index and middle finger against his temple as he concentrated on telepathy with the other zombified children.
"Jonathan says there's another exit round the last few wards...but..", Jamie bit his lip and stared back at us with an expression filled with worry.
"But what?!", Jack growled and snapped Jamie out of his daze.
"But, there's too many guards crowded around that area and blocking it off from us!", the caramel-haired boy croaked. I worriedly looked up to Jack and stared at him with concern.
However, I quickly realized I was wrong to have doubted him.
A devious smirk formed on the monochrome clown's face and insanity filled his malicious, dark eyes.
"Up and down the city road, in and out the eagle...", Jack sung the creepy nursery rhyme and his eyes twinkled with bloodlust. Jamie and I looked at each other in utter fear. The poor boy seemed to remember something horrible as he looked at Jack's inhuman smile.
I too felt the same dread as Jamie. It was without a doubt that smile reminded both of us of that haunted night in the alleyway. The day we both witnessed a monster at work.
And now, he would reck havoc on this building and all of its inhabitants—well, at least the ones who opposed him.
"Jamie... Hehe... Why don't we play a game with the guards...? A fun game of Cat and Mouse..? Hehe..AHAHAHAH..!!!", Jack burst into maniacal laughter and his booming voice echoed through the halls. The boy's white orbs widened and his lips quivered as Jack reveled in his insanity.
I unconsciously reached out for Jamie and hugged him close to me. Just like on that fateful night, we clung to each other as the monochrome clown lost control of himself and went on a rampage.
"That's the way the money goes, POP!! Goes the weasel!!", Jack's smile widened with every step he became closer to the end of the hallway. He was so fixated on the thought of murder, he overlooked the fact that his claws were beginning to poke at my skin.
I bit my lower lip and winced from the pain, but I held back my cries. It wasn't the moment for me to distract Jack. I had to remain calm and let him handle the situation.
He was a monster...and when they lose control, it's better to stay out of their way.
"(Y/N)... You're bleeding..", Jamie whispered as he gazed at my wrist.
I raised a finger to my lips and winked at him playfully, "What's a few scratches compared to the torture Jack will put all those guards through? Relax Jamie... We're almost out of here", I smiled wide and reassuringly.
Jamie nodded his head and kept his grasp on my arm, trying to not separate from us.
Speaking of which, Jack was sprinting towards our last exit and his expression still had his bloodlust in tact. I chuckled softly and gazed at him...even if he was a psycho, I just couldn't stop loving him.
"Alright! Take a left here and we'll meet up with Jonathan and his team!"
"What about the guards?!!"
"Them too!"
Jack's eyes twinkled again and, for some reason, it appeared to me that his sharp, jagged teeth were beginning to drool... I shrunk back in fear and realized Jack's thirst for blood was growing by the second—he'd soon explode when we'd reach the exit and show no mercy to any of the guards.
Soon, as we pulled up in front of a railing, guns and rifles were immediately pointed towards me. My breath hitched in my throat and I instinctively raised my arms to shield myself from the guards below.
However, as Jack threw himself off the railing and eagerly darted towards the men, the sound of rapid fire wasn't as terrifying as I thought it'd be—probably because it didn't last for long.
Every time an man shot at Jack, the monochrome clown would cut him down and silence their guns. I watched in utter horror as Jack ripped open his victims and whimsically pulled out their organs...only to replace them with candy.
Blood splattered all over the walls and some reached the railing and stained my clothes. I recoiled from the scene and Jamie gripped my arm comfortingly before I could turn away from the bloodshed.
I chose to be with Jack, now I had to remain by his side. Never will I leave him...even if I have to force myself to watch his brutal murders. I have to accept all of him...I have to accept these deaths, for I chose to love the one who caused them.
Men coughed and choked on their own blood as their bodies began to wear out. Some of the guards fidgeted and spazzed as the last of their senses disappeared.
The strong stench of blood clung to the air and I collapsed on my knees. My trembling hands clutched the railing and, as Jack's horrific laughter filled my ears, I cried and prayed for the men below us.
Jamie rubbed my back and whispered, "You'll get used to it...we all do."
The rest of the children entered the room and stood beside me on the railing. I stared up at their small bodies and noticed blood streaming down their hands and mouths. Chunks of meat and shredded flesh hung from their teeth and fingernails. I covered my mouth and held back the vomit pooling up in my throat.
Then, with a wave of Jack's hand, the bodies disappeared. All the blood vanished and the smell quickly faded. Jack no longer was laughing and instead he was proudly walking back towards me. He noticed the despair on my face and smiled warmly at me.
He bent down and cupped my face with his claws. His lips traced over mine and, even if he was drenched in blood, I quickly slammed my lips against his and gave myself to him.
He wrapped his arms around my waist and pressed me against him. I could feel his love and affection for me through his gentle touch. I felt more tears trickling down my face and I cried in between his bittersweet kisses.
"(Y/N)!!! WATCH OUT!!—"
I froze.
My lips parted from Jack's and I felt my eyes widen. A pain shot threw my side and I tensed up at the piercing agony that overwhelmed me. My hands started to tremble as I forcefully touched the side of my torso and, to my disbelief, the crimson stain colored my whole palm.
I felt a scream of intense pain nagging at my throat but, I failed to emit any sound as I suddenly began to lose consciousness.
My hearing muffled and my vision blurred as Jack's shocked face stared into mine. I could barely understand or comprehend what he was saying and I quickly slumped to the floor.
Black splotches appeared everywhere and a pounding in my head nulled me into a deep sleep...

{Narrator's POV}
The young woman slipped from Jack's arms and fell to the floor unconscious. A pool of blood circled around her feminine body and Jack could only gawk at her in disbelief.
The caramel-haired boy raced toward (Y/N) and bloody tears streamed down his face. He slowly lowered his head and pressed his ear against her chest in utter horror. However, his expression of dread subsided as a faint pulse rhythmical echoed through her chest.
"...She's still alive..", Jamie muttered under his breath and started weeping on (Y/N)'s body. He buried his face into her abdomen and gripped her clothes in relief as his muffled sobs resonated through the empty room.
Jack still hadn't moved.
His eyes were wide and his eyebrows were furrowed. The monochrome clown was stuck in a state of confusion and fear as his jaw hung open. Then, ever so slowly, he turned his head to the side and noticed who was still left standing on the floor below them.
A frail man with gray hair and glasses held his gun aimed at Jack. He was shaking but his grip on the weapon was still firm.
"Don't move or I'll shoot!", he shouted angrily as Jack's continued to stare at the man in disbelief.
"...J..Jack..!"
A voice, as sweet as honey, whispered as if speaking any louder would damage her vocal cords. The bleeding woman struggled to rise off the floor, but she gradually reached out to Jack.
She smiled through the blood that trickled down her waist and trembled as her body fought to stay off the ground.
"I wanna go home... Let's go home... Let's end this..", she trudged toward Jack and wrapped her arms around his waist. Her hug snapped the clown out of his daze and his eyes soon gained their bloodlust from before.
"JAMIE!! KILL HIM!!!"
The caramel-haired boy smirked and nodded his head. His white orbs morphed into pitch-black voids of death. Blood still trickled down from his eyes, but now his skin began to rot. His small hands sprouted black claws and his flesh turned paler.
"Of course...", Jamie mumbled under his breath and launched himself off the railing. He stretched his mouth open and curled his claws as his body flew towards the old man.
The aging man raised his gun and started shooting at him. Gaping holes formed on Jamie's body and blood ran down his chest, but he ignored his superficial wounds and snarled at the man. He sunk his teeth into his flesh and savagely tore off his limbs.
He was going to savor this man's death, that Jamie knew for sure.
"J..Jack..", the young woman's pained expression fueled the clown's rage and hunger for revenge. Jack raised his claw and growled as the entire building began to crumble down on the old man.
Jamie quickly jumped and returned to the railing only to grin as he watched the ceiling crush the man underneath it.
Flames began to dance and flicker over the grounds and walls.
Jack gently lifted (Y/N) and held her in his arms protectively. She nuzzled her head against his chest and smiled as Jack began to walk down the hallway. The demonic children trailed behind him as the building began to crumble from behind them.
The flames grew bigger and engulfed the side of the walls, burning them to a crisp. Anything that remained inside that building, anyone that survived Laughing Jack would be dead and forgotten.
Jack silently walked out of the building and gazed at his beloved woman as his playmates followed behind. Planting a soft kiss on her forehead, Jack whispered, "Yes... Let's go home.."
