Prologue
A heavy, misty gray fog filled the air. Something glowed blue, shimmering through the dark night, appearing ever so slightly through the fog. Twigs cracked, vines swung as a group ran through the forest, chests rising and falling rapidly, occasionally looking back to see if anyone was chasing them. Air was sucked in and a voice broke the silence, "You've gone too far, Jay. They've spotted us. We'll be dead in no time." A deep voice, laced with maturity and stern concern. It was a teenager with silver hair, electric-blue, captivating eyes, with a scar across the left one. His face had sharp, angular cheekbones with a mark on the right side of his cheek. With rough hands that held the wars of the past and the pain he had gone through. His legs steady and sturdy and strong. A spirit that was like fire, that burned with a desire and responsibility that guided the group step by step. A trusting leader.
"Sorry, Lucas. I was just-" The younger boy started again. "What were you just doing? Leading us to our deaths?" An older boy said, voice hinted with obvious hatred and disgust at the behaviour. Rolling her eyes, the older girl snarked, "Stop fighting! The demons are catching up, just stop retorting each other and thinking you're so smart for once!" Sighing with exasperation and annoyance, Lucas said, "Just quit it. We need to focus on the real enemy here. Seraphim, take the Silver Sword and stay behind and finish off as much as you can."
Seraphim flicked her hair back and curled it behind her ear to keep it out of her way. Moving noiselessly through the leaves on the ground, she muttered a spell and lit up the sword. It was now humming with power, as Seraphim creeped towards the demon, she was ambushed by a group of them! Fighting off as much as she could, she muttered a spell and pointed her glowing white finger to the sky, sending her allies a help message.
She turned back from the sky and fought valiantly for her life as demon and demon surged upon her with great power. She thought she was doing well, fighting them off, but a sudden cry of pain broke through her focus and she was distracted by the awfully familiar sound-- Jayden. The young boy was in danger as she now, cursing under her breath, used a spell to focus on her allies' sounds. Jayden was in danger, fighting off two demons bigger than his size; Lucas was doing fine, leaving a demon bloodied on the ground, hurrying to help Jayden; Christopher was struggling, as she heard him panic when his blade was kicked away. Deciding on who to help, Seraphim ran towards Christopher but was blocked by two demons. She grabbed for her sword but it was flung away by a demon. Deep breaths Ser, calm down. Magic works by emotion, calm down. She thought to herself and closed her eyes.
Everything was coming together at a quick pace. The magic in her head, the magic in her veins, the magic in her blood, in her body, in her heartbeat, everywhere. She focused and opened her eyes. They were glowing white, along with the star birthmark on her forehead. She created a protection circle around her while using her hand to blast a force field at the demons surrounding her.
"You will not harm my Clanmates, you piece of filth." She hissed, her eyes and mark turning red, her hair rising in the air as she blast magic to the demons. Lucas helped Jayden get on his feet and Christopher soon joined them as they slowly walked nearer to Seraphim. Seraphim looked around wildly, trying to blast at the demons, who were feebly twitching on the ground, practically begging for her mercy. Lucas spread out his arms, showed that he meant peace and well, and said, "Seraphim, calm down. Everything's gonna be okay, everything's fine, don't worry, we're all safe and sound. Safe and sound.." Seraphim slowly calmed down, using her magic to lower herself to the floor. Her eyes were shut and the glowing from her mark was gone. She was breathing heavily, Her body heaving, drenched with sweat. Beneath her thin skin, Lucas could feel her pulse running faintly and it was unstable. Throwing her over his shoulder, he muttered a quick spell and they teleported to the nearest infirmary.
"She's out of control again... we have no idea how to stop her from getting out of her knowledge of her powers..." Lucas said, a worried frown on his face. His voice getting fainter and fainter, the vision going foggier until it was nothing but white.
Miles away, a girl woke up, sweating heavily, her lips and face pale, springing up from her bed from the shocking vision she just had.
