4. Revenge
"Ehh, she failed?" Kugisaki Nobara sipped her strawberry soda as she gossiped with Itadori. "What a waste, I was hoping I could finally go shopping, clubbing, and do other girly things with a friend soon." She said in disappointment.
"You can go with us? We're your friends too." Yuji frowned.
"Yeah, but its different with a girl. Cute guys won't approach me if I'm hanging out with intimidating guys like him." Nobara pointed at Megumi, who simply chose to not respond.
"I doubt Megumi is the one intimidating guys." Yuji commented, earning a death glare from Nobara.
Gojo Satoru was in the same room, quietly drinking tea, deep in thought, ignoring the chatter from his students. He considered all possibilities for why Miyo was so hostile towards Jujutsu sorcerers. The idea of being fed with false ideas right from childhood seemed like the most obvious explanation. However, that didn't feel like enough venom. There was something else she hadn't told them yet.
"Is she pretty?" Nobara asked Yuji, causing him to look away.
"H-How should I know?!" He asked in disbelief.
"Oi," A feminine voice sounded from the garden. The three first years and Gojo Satoru turned to look at Miyo. She pointed at Yuji and gestured him to come outside. "I need to speak with you." As she walked away, Nobara raised her eyebrows at Yuji suggestively.
"Shut up!" He pushed her away and headed out with his ears turning pink. Gojo Satoru's eyes followed Itadori Yuji as he walked out. Somehow, he couldn't trust her alone with any of his students. She seemed like one who would have ulterior motives.
"What did you mean when you said you have a curse?" She asked and Yuji's eyebrows furrowed. Why was she asking this now?
"Uh, I have a cursed object inside me, just like you." Yuji replied.
"You were born with it too?"
"No, uh," Yuji was slightly embarrassed. "I ate it."
"You what?" Miyo asked in disgust.
"It was an emergency, okay! I ate it so I could have cursed energy too. It helped me save my friends, so I'm not ashamed of it." He justified himself. "I've also managed to control it now, so, I'm sure you'll be able to do it too." He offered her a kind smile.
"Was the cursed object Sukuna's finger?" She asked and Yuji nodded in response. Her guess was right, the mouth that appeared earlier belonged to Ryomen Sukuna, the King of curses.
Miyo was afraid, but this was a literal death sentence she had to evade. There was no other option. She closed her eyes, trusted her instinct and placed her hand on Yuji's chest, right above his heart.
A hand reached out and she was pulled into a strange place. A huge shrine under a blood red sky was the first sight she took in. There was a throne made of bones, which she assumed belonged to Sukuna.
Warm breath tickled her ear as she heard a man's voice, "You volunteered to see me?" He chuckled.
"R-Ryomen Sukuna." Her voice shook as she said his name. Many of the manuscripts her mother owned described a monstrous curse. One that destroyed prosperous cities, killed women and children, spread disease and disaster and left countries in ashes.
He looked like a more ripped and mature version of Itadori Yuji. His face and arms were covered in tattoos, face split into a grin. "Is this your desperate attempt to stay alive? If that's the case, then you just brought your death sentence closer." He disappeared from beside her. She looked around and found him seated on his throne. "If I don't like your offer, I won't let you leave. I'll kill you right away." Sukuna's tone was bland, but he meant every single word.
The pressure was building up and Miyo had to make a really good proposal now. She wasn't ready to die. Not yet. Not until she saw her mother again.
"I'm not good with words," Miyo started honestly, for the amateur she was. "So I don't have an impressive way to put this. I'm just here to say that I have more respect for a 1000-year old curse, than for all of Jujutsu sorcerers." She added without meeting his eyes.
"So? What do you want from me?" Sukuna raised an eyebrow.
"What will it take-" Miyo was really making bold choices with her words now. "-for you to destroy Jujustu High and all of its sorcerers?" Sukuna didn't look impressed. He narrowed his eyes at her and Miyo's fingers started shaking.
"This is starting to feel like revenge." Sukuna commented. "Are you telling me you want me to do favours for you?" He asked as his eyes shifted to her hands that were holding her skirt in a death grip. "Your fingers are shaking, you don't seem so sure of your decisions either."
"I haven't asked a curse to make a binding pact with me before. Sorry, I'm not 1000-years old like you to have endless courage and resolve." She replied with sarcasm etched in her tone. When Sukuna disappeared from his throne, she immediately regretted it.
A hand with black fingernails as sharp as knives appeared beside her neck. "You don't have much time to convince me. I tend to lose patience easily."
"Y-You can have my heart."
"Are you flirting with me?"
"No, like, literally. You can keep all my cursed energy for yourself once you've killed the Jujutsu sorcerers." Sukuna looked at her in amusement. He knew Miyo had little else to offer anyway, but he didn't expect this to be so easy. "Its not even a real human heart. Its a cursed object and I'd rather give it to you and put it to good use than have the Jujutsu sorcerers take it."
"Revenge runs deep in your veins." Sukuna said as he gently took a few strands of her hair in his finger. "Your cursed energy isn't enough for me to regain my powers. I need my fingers and the brat is already doing that for me. So, just your heart is not of much use to me." He lied.
Except for Miyo, everybody else knew the potential of the curse in her heart. It held catastrophic energy and could turn her into a beast with unmatched power.
However, Sukuna wanted more. He was always greedy and deceiving innocent humans was never an issue. "Bow allegiance to me. Until I regain all my powers and beyond, follow every single order I give you. If you make a pact with me on this condition, I'll fulfill every wish of yours." He offered.
Sukuna placed a finger under her chin and Miyo looked up to meet his eyes. His eyes resembled the blood moon, they were beautiful, yet terrifying at the same time.
"Miyo?" She heard a familiar voice and the spell broke. "Don't talk to him!" Yuji was in Sukuna's domain. Neither of them knew how.
"Stay out of this, brat!" Sukuna warned.
"No! You stay out of this. You're just taking advantage of Miyo because she's alone and confused right now." Yuji was furious, not just at Sukuna, but also at Miyo. He had guessed she didn't make the best decisions, but this was plain madness. How did she expect a blood-thirsty curse to save her life?
Miyo was impulsive enough to take the offer, but before she could say yes, the ground shook and she was knocked off her feet. Her back hit the ground as she fell and the sky was blue again. She turned to see Yuji lying on the ground just beside her.
"Man, that was so close!" Yuji was breathing heavily. It just so happened that he was way more terrified than Miyo. Maybe because he had a more realistic view of the Jujutsu world than her.
"You'd have to be the most disillusioned idiot to think that Ryomen Sukuna, of all, can do anything for you." Gojo Satoru said in disbelief. He had definitely underestimated Miyo this time.
