Chapter 24- the start of something
(Y/N) POV:
I sighed, seeing the inevitable argument that would happen no matter how much I tried to avoid it, I seemed to have rotten luck sometimes.
Yuna was standing there glaring at me, ire and hatred in her eyes and a poisonous twist on her scarlet lips. I shuddered looking at the thick coat of red paint on her lips, I'd always hated red lipstick. The moment her eyes lit up with a vicious intent, I knew that she was there for me and soon my words proved to be true as I tried walking past but she and her lackeys intervened, blocking my path.
I sighed deeply, trying to remain calm even though Yuna had a way of riling up even saints and I knew from the look on her face, I knew innately that she was up to no good. I'd seen that expression many times; it was a cruel reminder of a figure from my past, but I did try, try to see the human in Yuna.
"Yes Yuna. What is it that you want?" trying and failing to keep the exasperation out of my tone.
"What I want is my boys back." She spat, eyes narrowing in hatred.
I tilted my head to the side, unfazed by her towering over me.
"Your...boys?" I asked, words drawn out.
"Yes. MINE! The ones you've put your filthy hands on. Bangtan was mine, they are mine. They belong to me. Who are you to come in our way?!" she said voice rising with a manic hysteria.
"They're not yours. They're not anyone's. They're not belongings Yuna." I retorted feeling anger spark in me at her addressing them as possessions, new shiny toys to play with.
"You whor—" she spat but I cut her off.
"Listen Yuna, you're not their soulmate. Everyone knows your soulmate is gone and I truly feel sorry for you, but this isn't healthy..." I said, truly feeling pity for how derailed she'd become.
My words were cut off with a large force jerking my head violently to the side, her hand furiously colliding with my face.
My face felt like it was on fire, a burning sensation that stung my cheek as it throbbed violently. I lifted my own hand to cup my cheek, in disbelief that Yuna had resorted to violence rather than talking like a civilised being. I could hear murmurs from the few onlookers who'd stopped in shock at the sound and sudden action.
I clenched my jaw, struggling to keep a lid on my anger that was threatening to bubble and boil over.
Yuna looked pleased, anger not yet gone from her eyes, but I was pissed.
"I tried to treat you like you were civilised, but you just had to go and do that." I said, voice dropping lower as I stepped closer to her.
I saw a flicker of doubt in her eyes, but she remained haughty and cruel.
"You're calling me civilised, me when you're the reason you're an orphan and alone." She spat, reopening all the wounds that had slowly begun to heal, tearing them open and rubbing salt viciously into them.
I faltered; how did she know so much about me? Who was she?
She smirked, triumphant.
"Poor orphan (Y/N). No-one will love you; you don't deserve love." She crooned, the words stirring up ghosts from my past, red lips twisted viciously, so hauntingly similar to words that plagued my sleep.
I tried to will away how broken I felt, I tried to tell myself Yuna was just twisted and horrible because of having suffered. But it was getting harder and harder to believe the lie I knew I was feeding myself.
"Yuna you don't have to be the person you are." I said, but my voice sounded weak even to my own ears, fight having left me.
She stepped closer, bringing herself closer and closer to me, long fingers coming to tightly grip my face, fingers digging into the throbbing skin of my cheek.
"Remember your place (Y/N). You don't want to go stirring up trouble." She crooned.
And even though the words should have scared me, it just stirred up an even stronger need to get rid of her toxic presence from my life. I wasn't alone, I had my soulmates. I was strong.
I twisted out of her grip, not bothering to disguise the utter disgust and revulsion I felt towards her.
"Remember yours Yuna. It's far far out of my life." before walking past her trying not to let myself get lost in thoughts and musings as to why seeing her brought up all those bad memories again. It was like she knew my weak points and knew exactly how to press hard enough to make it hurt.
----
When I'd finished packing that night, majority of my belongings neatly assembled into boxes, I'd already received the end of a frantic Seo-Yeon unnie who'd taken one look at my bruised face and sat me down. Maybe it wouldn't have hurt that much had it not been for the fact Yuna adorned her fingers with rings, thick heavy rings. I winced when it throbbed, recalling the sting of alcohol as unnie cleaned the small cuts that had marred my cheek.
My mind was still trying to sort out the confusion and trying to rationalise the horrible unsettling feeling I got whenever I was near Yuna. My gut instincts never failed me. And right now, they were screaming that she meant trouble.
NAMJOON POV:
The week had dragged, seeing (Y/N) around campus had been fine, so had the little coffee dates I liked taking her on, but it suddenly seemed as though the house was empty. The void we'd tried to ignore before we found her now screaming to us that we were incomplete, that the house wasn't a home. Wouldn't be until all eight of us were there.
And I knew I wasn't the only one that felt it. Even though we were happy and relaxed when we were with each other, everyone's aura had taken on a tinge of sadness, a navy blue that seemed to weigh heavily on them all, no doubt on mine too.
"Hyuunnggg when will she get here." Tae whined before his words ended with a moan, back arching as his neck tilted backwards from the open-mouthed kisses Hobi was placing on Tae's neck before he bent to suck hard at the junction between his neck and shoulder. Hobi leaned back, a blossoming red mark on Tae's neck who whined slightly before wriggling on Hobi's lap.
"Soon Tae hyung." Kookie said but he was looking at Tae with a knowing smirk and it made me wander if Tae was whining on purpose with the intent that one of us would distract him. Looking at the smug look spreading across his face I knew it had been intentional.
I shook my head fondly at him.
Just then the doorbell rang, loud and clear as it chimed, and we were all bolting to our feet, straightening our clothes out and waiting for Jimin to come back from opening the door with (Y/N).
Jimin returned but not with (Y/N), (Y/N) and two girls to be exact. I froze, who were they? Why were they here? But one glance at their body language told me they were close to (Y/N) and I relaxed guessing they were probably her friends helping her with her stuff.
"(Y/N)!" Jimin yelled and was about to go in for a hug when the two girls suddenly pulled her behind them forming a barrier between her and Jimin. He stopped looking confused.
"Is there a problem?" Yoongi hyung asked going to stand next to Jimin, hand pressed on his back in silent support.
"No problem, there's just some things we need to iron out before we leave (Y/N) here." One of them spoke, voice firm and brooking no argument, it looked like (Y/N) got her stubborn, confident streak from her.
"Unnie...." (Y/N) protested from behind the two, I could barely see her, but I saw the hand that came to tug at said-girl's arm.
The girl all but melted as she turned to coo at (Y/N) but her face towards us was blank when she turned.
"Please sit." Jin hyung rushed, gesturing to the couch where the two girls placed (Y/N) between them and sat down.
The atmosphere had shifted to the impatient longing to something almost stifling.
Everyone else settled down onto the other couches, a silent nervousness beginning to build.
"Uhm...this is Seo-Yeon unnie and this is Soo Jin-ah, my dormmates." (Y/N) spoke, fiddling with her fingers before the taller one gently took them and just held them.
"Not to be rude or anything, but why are you here?" Yoongi hyung asked.
"It's just a bit hard letting your youngest one go out of your nest." Seo-Yeon said, shooting a warm glance at (Y/N) who protested with a soft 'unnie'.
"No, we came here to say if you hurt (Y/N) in any way, even in the slightest, we- I mean I won't hesitate to rearrange your guts." Soo Jin threatened, eyes narrowing as she looked at all of us in turn. And whilst I was glad (Y/N) had people who looked out for her so fiercely, I couldn't help feeling that the girl promised pain.
"Soo Jin-ah." And two swats to her arm by the other two but she sat unfazed.
"Why don't you go unpack?" Jin hyung offered and I knew Seo-Yeon agreed, nodding as she ushered her up, shooting a warning look at Hobi and the maknaes as they eagerly bounded to their feet, eager to escape the current environment.
(Y/N) shot a warning look to the two girls before leaving with the others. The moment their footsteps could no longer be heard, Seo-Yeon straightened up.
"I just want to say this now...but please, please take proper care of (Y/N). She's a pure soul who deserves the world at her feet." She said, voice gentle and eyes silently beseeching.
"Of course, Seo-Yeon-ssi. She is our soulmate." I said, no more words being needed to express that we would do anything and everything for her.
The assurance in my voice reassured her because she smiled.
"Is there anything we should keep an eye out for? Habits? Preferences? Allergies?" Yoongi hyung said, leaning forward in his eagerness to know more about her.
The two girls shared a fond look of exasperation before turning to face us.
"What do you want us to start with?"
(Y/N) POV:
I looked nervously at the floor as if hoping I could somehow see through it and see and hear what was being discussed downstairs. I wasn't stupid, I knew unnie was going to switch and bring out her mama bear persona. I just hoped my soulmates came out unscathed and in one piece on the other side.
"They'll be fine (Y/N)-ah." Hobi chuckled and it was in that burst of joy that erupted from his mouth that my worries were put to rest. They would be.
I turned to unpack sorting out clothes and placing them in the wardrobe, trinkets going to sit on the desk and extra pillows and plushies being placed onto the bed. Jungkook helped me string up some fairy lights, helping me pin them securely to the wall and the others fluttered in and out, weaving around each other as they helped me make the room feel more like mine.
I turned to see Jimin and Tae going through the remaining suitcase, and I realised with belated horror that the silky scraps of fabric clutched in their hands was lingerie. Lingerie I didn't remember seeing or owning.
I darted across the room trying desperately to snatch them out of Taehyung and Jimin's hands, tiptoeing upwards but my fingers scrabbled uselessly. They giggled as they watched me attempt to grab them out of their hands, Jungkook's face flushing slightly as he averted his eyes from the rest that lay splayed out on the bed. Hobi's eyes were twinkling with amusement and something deeper and intense as he watched us, smile on his lips.
"Tae stop it!" I yelled and in the brief moment where they froze in surprise, I grabbed the fabric out their hands and stuffed it into the bottom of the box containing my toiletries, cheeks flushing furiously.
The look of mischief and something else disappeared from their faces and the others drooped slightly whilst Taehyung's face lit up with joy as he beamed.
"You called me Tae.", my eyes widening as I realised the nickname had slipped out unconsciously.
I froze.
"She called me Tae." He repeated, grin spreading further across his face before he began dancing around the room in victory. Whilst he danced, the other three turned to face me.
"So, what are our nicknames kit?" Hobi said, voice low.
