Aran rushes to Kabir's side and has the police officers take him to one of the hospitals in Bangkok. Shayna, on the other hand, is roaming around the house with her phone. She takes pictures and records a few videos. She leaves with Aran around three in the morning on the sixteenth.

Shayna freshens up and instantly starts filling out some paperwork that she left off earlier. She sends them to the court of Bangkok around five in the morning. She makes herself a strong black coffee and works out in the mini-gym to kill time as she waits for an email.

Around ten in the morning, she receives an email confirming her appointment at the court around three in the afternoon. She has a salad for lunch then freshens up again. She slips into a white button-down shirt and black pants. She finishes her look with a black coat and stilettos. She leaves the penthouse with her purse and the documents.

She reaches the court fifteen minutes prior to the appointment and makes her way to the room. She settles herself down and sets up her table. She greets the opposition lawyer. She recognizes a few officials from the party last night sitting there. The panel of three judges walk in and take a seat. The others in the court bow their heads and take a seat.

Judge: Ms. Shayna Bakshi, the lawyer for the defense, has registered a case against the homeland security department of Thailand. The petition that she submitted states the inhumane treatment of Mr. Kabir Balakrishnan. Am I right, Ms. Bakshi?

Shayana: Yes, your honor!

Judge: Prosecution?

The prosecution lawyer nods and stands up.

Prosecution: Thank you, your honor! Ms. Bakshi has filed a petition for a man who was caught spying on Thailand.

Shayna stands up and rounds her desk to stand on the right of the prosecution's lawyer.

Shayna: Let me correct you, sir! He wasn't caught spying. His girlfriend was caught spying and he was under the radar. He was arrested due to his relationship with her and them living under the same roof.

Prosecution: Ms. Bakshi, you are right, but there is nothing to prove that he is innocent. I can present several pieces of evidence against him and I will. The first evidence is his frequent visits to government buildings. During his stay in Thailand, which is a brief period of three months, he has visited the government and legal department offices at least thirty times. That is not a small number keeping in mind that he is a foreign citizen.

Shayna: I agree with you, but one point you forgot to mention is that Mr. Balakrishnan is an Indian ambassador. He was here for a business trip to seal a deal between the government of India and a private company in Bangkok, so visits to these offices are very common for official purposes. I believe you forgot to mention the fact that he was always accompanied by a Thai official during his visit to any government institution.

Prosecution: I'll give you that, Ms. Bakshi, but can you please explain how he didn't know about what his girlfriend was doing?

Shayna: From the information I collected, Ms. Kiara Roy, the girlfriend or fiance of Mr. Balakrishnan, worked in a private company in Bangkok. They met a few times in public for example clubs, casinos, etc. There have been cases where spies have been to another country and hid their identity from everyone including their partner. I would like to call the chief of homeland security in the witness box. May I?

Judge: You may!

The chief makes his way to the witness box.

Shayna: Sir, I'm sure that you have been to other countries for an underground mission.

Chief: I have.

Shayna: Is it true that you find a partner in another country and display a happy family image to the world to fulfill your purpose of visit?

Chief: That is true!

Shayna: Do you inform the person whom you may choose as your partner about your real identity?

Chief: No!

Shayna: May I ask why?

Chief: We cannot inform the other person simply because they might inform the law enforcement of the nation and it can ruin the mission.

Shayna: I have proved my point to my fellow prosecution lawyer that spies do not reveal their identity to even their partner.

Prosecution: Ms. Bakshi, don't you think it's odd that Mr. Balakrishnan chose to save the life of the girl instead of his own. Doesn't that hint towards something?

Shayna: I will prove that point as well. Chief, is it true that you may be involved in a fake relationship knowing the results, but your partner can be involved in it emotionally?

Chief: Yes, Ms. Bakshi! That is what happens in most cases.

Shayna: Do you believe that Mr. Balakrishnan was emotionally involved in this relationship while Ms. Roy was the hypocrite?

Prosecution: Ms. Bakshi, feelings and opinions are not evidence.

Shayna: Sir, I know that opinions and feelings are not pieces of evidence, but in this case, they will be counted as evidence as the Chief has cross-examined and interrogated Mr. Balakrishnan. International humanitarian law states that feelings and opinions should be taken into account when making a decision. This concludes that the Chief's opinion and feelings are a piece of evidence.

Prosecution: I object my lord! The international laws do not apply in this court.

Shayna: The international laws are accepted by the king and the government of Thailand. They have signed an agreement in the UN permitting the court of Thailand to use those laws. And taking into consideration that Mr. Balakrishnan is an Indian citizen, the international laws do apply to this case.

Judge: The defense is granted the right of using international law!

Shayna: Thank you, your honor! Returning to the topic. Chief?

Chief: Taking into consideration of the cross-examination and interrogation, my staff and I concluded that Mr. Balakrishnan was not spying on the Thai government as there is no proof against him. He loved Ms. Roy which influenced his decision of staying back and saving her.

Shayna: This case is clear as he saved the one he loved and took the sufferings. The interrogation scripts are attached to the petition. Love is the most widely felt emotion amongst any living species. According to human psychology, humans can cross any limits for love, such as taking their or other's lives to fulfill their desire to love or be loved.

Prosecution: Ms. Bakshi, it looks like you have done a Ph.D. in love. I guess your partner must be very lucky!

Shayna: My personal life is nothing that should concern anyone in the court. You brought up the topic and my answer to that is that I do not believe in love or neither have a partner, but I do respect those who believe in love and its existence.

Prosecution: I apologize! I wasn't trying to invade your privacy.

Shayna nods her head and directs her attention back to the judges.

Shayna: I'm sure that I have proved that Mr. Balakrishnan is not a spy, but rather an Indian government employee who had to go through the suffering due to his love interest. I will request the judiciary to look at the pictures, which I have attached.

The judges open the envelope in front of them and take a look at the pictures. Shayna hands a picture envelope to the prosecution lawyer as well. After a few minutes of reviewing and discussing the pictures, the judges signal Shayna to continue.

Shayna: These are the pictures of the house where Mr. Balakrishnan was kept and the ration he was given to survive. The condition of the house was very bad with leakage, insects, and the cracks in the flooring should tell a story. The ration he was given was one pack of bread and butter each week. If that is not inhumane then I do not know what is! The bread and butter had mold on them when I went to collect evidence. If we separate it equally, he would get three pieces of bread for a day and a spoon of butter. That is not enough food for a grown male.  And on top of that, it had mold, which meant that he would not be eating for two to three days because after that it was not edible. The water was the only support for him. Last night, he was hospitalized.

Judge: For?

Shayna: Food poisoning, bug bites, and weakness due to being malnourished. All the things I stated are a crime against humanity. The doctor's report is also attached. If this case does not get solved and the Indian government petitions for it in the nearest future then it can lead to Thailand being punished by the United Nations for inhumane treatment of Mr. Balakrishnan!

Prosecution: That's a threat, Ms. Bakshi!

Shayna: I'm sorry if you took that as a threat, but I am simply stating the facts!

Judge: Order! Order!

The two quickly apologize.

Judge: The judiciary will announce its decision in the next fifteen minutes.

The three judges exit the room. Everyone takes their seat and busies themselves in something to kill time. The judges return after twenty minutes.

Judges: We have concluded that Mr. Balakrishnan is to be freed from his sentence. We will inform the government of India about it. Mr. Balakrishnan will be required to remain in Thailand till the process doesn't end. The process will take roughly a year and till then we need a guardian for him, who takes his responsibility. Is there anyone willing to do that?

The room is filled with silence for the next few moments.

Judge: If no one comes forward and takes his responsibility then he will be put with a law enforcement officer who will be his shadow until he boards the flight for India.

Shayna: I'll take his responsibility.

Judge: Very well then! You will have to finish the formalities. He is to be discharged tomorrow morning so Mr. Aran Saetang will assist you with the process.

Shayna: Yes, your honor.

Judge: The court is adjourned!

They all bow down in front of the judges before going their separate ways. Shayna finishes the legal formalities and goes to her residence. She jumps on her bed and lets sleep take over her.
