Bonus Chapter #1 : Clawmates and Crushes

(A/N: There's probably going to be a few bonus chapters coming up. They won't be in first person, though. Also, only Alaska, Koi, and Seafoam belong to me. Stargazer, Kaioa, Wavepool, and Allure belong to StarvioletFury. Heliamphora belongs to TheOneTrueCheese. )

"Your room is right here, Alaska," Stargazer said as he and Alaska entered a cave. There was a little pond with a mossy rock in the middle. Alaska guessed that was her bed. There was also a ledge with some moss on it.

That must be for my clawmate, Alaska thought. She'd really, really wanted it to be Kaioa, but sadly she was in a different Winglet. "Uh, who are they?" Alaska asked Stargazer, forgetting he couldn't read her mind or something.

"Hmm?" questioned Stargazer.

"Who is my clawmate?"

"Oh!" replied Stargazer. "Let's see. Ah, yes! Your clawmate is named Seafoam. She's a SeaWing, so maybe you've met her."

"Uh, I don't think I have." Alaska wasn't sure if the SeaWing would like her.

"Well, I sure hope you like her once you meet her!" Stargazer said. "Oh, and by the way, I got you some scrolls for some light reading. They're ones my grandfather wrote about his adventures as a Dragonet of Destiny. And, since your grandmother is in them I figured you'd like them."

"Thank you so much!" Alaska felt happy to know the descendant of her grandmother's best friends.

Stargazer grinned an enormous smile. "No problem! I'm going to go greet the other students, now! See you later, Alaska!"

As, Stargazer left, Alaska plopped onto her bed. She was beyond tired, having to be around a LOT of dragons. She was just about to drift off to sleep, when she heard Stargazer's voice out in the hall.

"Hello there! Welcome to Jade Mountain Academy!"

"Why, hello," replied a feminine voice. There was a short pause until the same voice hissed, "Seafoam, say hello!"

"Hi," said a voice, who was clearly unhappy to be here.

Alaska listened as they talked until someone knocked on her cave. "Who is it?" she called.

THE LITERAL MOST ANNOYING SEAWING EVER WALKED IN THE DOOR. "Hello, Princess!" Koi greeted her with a bow.

Alaska rolled her eyes. Koi had had a crush on her ever since they were dragonets. Alaska still cringed at the day they first met.

"Alaska, guess what?" Alaska's nursemaid, Arame, had asked the one year old dragonet.

"What?" Alaska asked her.

"Princess Wavepool has adopted a dragonet! His name is Koi! Won't it be fun to have a new friend?"

"Yeah, I guess."

"Come on," beckoned Arame, "Let's go meet him."

Alaska followed her nursemaid through the palace to Wavepool's room. Inside was a dragonet with orange, white, and yellow scales.

"Koi," Arame said, "This is Alaska."

Koi's face lit up. "Are you an angel?" he asked. "Or just the most beautiful dragon alive?"

Alaska internally gagged. Who the heck said that when they met a new dragon?

It got even worse after that. Koi started following Alaska everywhere

"I'll protect you, Princess!"

"My heart belongs to you, Princess!

"I love you more than anything, Prin— oh, hi Princess Atlantic, what are you doing—AHHH A SPEAR IS CHASING MEEEEE!!!"

The last one had been when Alaska had begged her animus cousin to do something. And Atlantic obliged.

But the day Alaska got invited to Jade Mountain was terrible.

"Princess, you got a letter!" Arame handed Alaska a sealed envelope.

"I've been invited to attend Jade Mountain Academy!" Alaska exclaimed as she read the letter.

"We're going to Jade Mountain?!" Koi shouted. "It's going to be so romantic!"

That ruined everything. But it was the way things had always been. Always surprised that he hadn't proposed yet. But here Koi was right now, standing in her doorway.

"Hi, Koi," Alaska said simply.

"I'm here to make sure that no one tries to hurt you," Koi explained proudly.

Alaska rolled her eyes. "Thank you very much, Koi, but I don't need you to protect me." I have a magical amulet for that

"But, Princess," Koi argued, "You're a member of the royal family! Anyone could try to hurt you!"

Before Alaska could argue, Stargazer came through the cave entrance and following him was a mint green SeaWing with an unpleasant expression on her face. She nearly bumped into Koi on her way inside.

"Watch where you're going, Sponge-snout!" she snarled and Alaska recognized her voice as the unhappy one that was out in the hall.

"Koi, this is a Gold Winglet cave, I'm afraid you're in Quartz Winglet," Stargazer said.

"Oh, I'll be off then," Koi responded. "Goodbye, Princess, I'll be back." And with that he was finally gone.

"Anyway," Stargazer said to the unhappy SeaWing, "Seafoam, this is Princess Alaska. She's your clawmate! I think you two are going to be great friends!"

Stargazer left to go help more students and Seafoam shot Alaska a nasty look. "Listen here, Princess," she growled. "I am not going to put up with anything annoying, you got it?"

"Uh, yes." Alaska didn't really know how to respond.

"Good," said Seafoam and then muttered, "If there's one thing I hate it's royalty."

Alaska sighed. She knew she wasn't going to make any friends here. But she was wrong.

The next day, Alaska and Seafoam went to Gold Winglet's main cave to meet the rest of the Winglet. Seafoam didn't talk much on the way, but that was perfectly fine with Alaska.

Just remember that Seafoam can't hurt you, Alaska told herself.

As they walked down the halls, a LeafWing approached Alaska and Seafoam. She was mostly different shades of green with a bit of red scales around her eyes.

"Hello," the LeafWing greeted them with a grin. "My name is Helimorphia. What's yours?"

"I'm Seafoam and that's Alaska," the angry SeaWing replied with an eye roll.

Alaska felt a tiny flame of fury rise up. She could have introduced herself, what was Seafoam complaining about?! Alaska figured that Seafoam's hatred of the royal family was something more than just annoyance.

"Hey, are those markings on your wings royal?" Helimorphia asked Alaska.

"Um, yes," Alaska replied. Was Helimorphia going to scoff? Eye roll? Hate Alaska for all eternity?

But instead the LeafWing grinned. "Well, anyone who is royalty is definitely amazing enough to hang out with me!" she proclaimed. Then, she turned to Seafoam. "You're not royalty, but you're welcome to hang out with us, as well."

Alaska smiled at someone calling her amazing, but the smile soon faded at Seafoam's furious face.

"Excuse me?" Seafoam challenged Helimorphia, "I hang out with anyone I want to. I don't have to be welcome or whatever."

Helimorphia looked astounded and Alaska just stared. Helimorphia hadn't meant anything rude, she was literally offering friendship! Maybe Seafoam was a dragon who didn't want friends.

"Helimorphia, what are you doing?" asked a voice.

Alaska turned and saw the most handsome dragon she'd ever seen enter the hall. He was a RainWing, scales blue as ice and bright green eyes that met Alaska's.

Koi is going to be so jealous, Alaska thought.

"Oh, you've made some new friends!" The RainWing's scales turned bright yellow, most likely out of excitement.

"Er, yes, Allure," Helimorphia said as she put her talons to her face.

"So what are your names?" Allure asked.

"I'm Alaska," Alaska was quick to tell him. "My clawmate's name is Seafoam."

"Well, it's very nice to meet both of you," Allure said with a smile.

"We should probably wait for the rest of our Winglet," Helimorphia suggested.

"Not our Winglet, but the others, too!" Allure exclaimed.

"Sounds good, I guess," Alaska decided. She glanced at Seafoam who was just frowning.

All four dragons went inside the cave, with no idea of what would happen next.

There could be more bonus chapters in the future, but read Wings of War and Silver to find out what happens! And, it's an applyfic, meaning you can add your OCs in it and maybe help write some of the chapters!
