I
He was four years old when it happened.
He had been playing tag with his best friend, Izu-chan, and some of the other kids from their school. He was just about to tag Izu-chan, when a scream of pain tore it's way out of Izu-chan's throat. He crumpled to the ground, face twisted in agony as he screamed. Red began to stain the back of Izu-chan's shirt, and his ears began twisting and morphing.
All of the other kids froze too watch, terror making up most of their expresions.
Katsuki panicked. Izu-chan was hurting, why was he hurting, what was hurting him? Katsuki would destroy whatever was hurting him, no one hurts Katsuki's best friend!!
The red stain on Izu-chan's shirt got larger, and his scream sounded more painful than before. How do you stop bleeding? Kastuki didn't know how to do that.
But Auntie Inko would know!!
So, Katsuki scooped him up in his arms, nose wrinkled up at the way Izu-chan's ears kept changing shape. Could he even hear like that?
Izu-chan was surprisingly light, but that wasn't important. Katsuki needed to get him to Auntie Inko. Izu-chan had stopped screaming by that point, and was instead panting. He must be tired from screaming for so long.
By the time Katsuki had gotten him to Auntie Inko, he had already passed out. She took Izu-chan to the hospital, and Katsuki insisted on coming with them.
It was there that Katsuki had found out that Izu-chan had been cursed by a pixie at some point, and was now turning into a fae. The nurses said that he would be part elf, part sprite, part pixie, and part giant.
Katsuki knew that he should've been scared from hearing that. Fae were mythics, and mythics were bad, everyone in the village knew that.
Well, Katsuki was scared, but not of Izu-chan. He was scared for Izu-chan's wellbeing. He didn't know what might happen to Izu-chan once he transformed. He could tell that the transformation was painful, so it might hurt him more after it was all over!!
Katsuki didn't get to see Izu-chan until a month later, when he came back to school. Izu-chan looked different when he came back. His black hair had turned into a dark green color. His ears were longer, with pointed tips. His fingers seemed a bit longer as well. He had grown clear, bug-like wings, which were probably big enough to lift him off the ground. He no longer wore his tacky t-shirts, instead wearing a long sleaved, brown tunic which was decorated by maple leaf patterns.
Katsuki knew it was Izu-chan, though, because the moment the fae boy looked at him, a huge grin appeared on his face, and he tackled hugged Katsuki, with a delighted shout of "KACCHAN!!"
Katsuki was so happy to see his Izu-chan again, even if he wouldn't admit it.
From then on, everyone was scared of Izu-chan. No one wanted to play with him anymore, and Katsuki was his only friend.
They'd send concerned glances towards Katsuki, and when he wasn't with Izu-chan they'd ask him, "Is that fae threatening you? Do you need help getting away from him?"
Katsuki would blow up at them, angry that they'd think someone like Izu-chan was capable of hurting someone.
Izu-chan never used magic, and he never flied, never even tried to. When Katsuki asked, Izu-chan said, "I don't wanna make the others think that I'm weird..."
Katsuki told him "Doesn't matter what they think!! They're all just side-characters to our epic story!!!"
Izu-chan still wouldn't try to fly or use magic, though.
When they were seven, Katsuki had found a special necklace. It was golden chain, with a real ruby pendant on it. The necklace was enchanted, and let him create explosions from his hands. Humans like him might not be able to use magic naturally, but they could still use magical items.
The day after, Izu-chan had started coming to school with a green, hooded cloak on, which hid his ears and wings. Katsuki didn't think it suited Izu-chan, but he didn't say anything about it. If Izu-chan liked it, then that was that.
He and Izu-chan started training together after Katsuki found the necklace, although Izu-chan was relunctant to show anyone the plant magic that he had learned. He also learned healing magic, so that if either of them got hurt, he could heal it.
Now they were 15. Katsuki was worried about Izu-chan. He had been really quiet in school that day, and didn't even stop to talk to Katsuki after school. That was unsual for Izu-chan, he was usually extremly talkitive, although he usually just mumbled to himself instead of talking to their classmates.
So, here Katsuki was, walking over to Auntie Inko's house in hopes to find out what was up was Izu-chan. Auntie Inko wasn't home, as she had to go to work, but he knew that Izu-chan would be home.
He opened up the door, only to find Izu-chan packing up his backpack. It had a few changes of cloths, Izu-chan's spellbooks and notebooks, and a few different snacks inside. Izu-chan was wearing a green rabbit mask, one that he had gotten for his halloween coustume when they were five.
"Izu-chan...? What are you doing?" Katsuki asked, hestiation evident. Izu-chan's head snapped up to look at him, "O-oh, uhm, hi Kacchan.... You.... weren't supposed to see this..."
"Izu-chan, answer the question." Katsuki replied, crossing his arms in front of his chest as if he were angry. "Erm.... I-I'm sorry Kacchan.... I-I'm gonna run away.... I'm sorry...."
As soon as he finished talking, Katsuki pulled him into a hug, which was admitably rare for him to do. "Izu-chan.... You-you can't just run away....! I..... This is your home, our home.... Fuckin.... I know that our classmates are shitty to you, but-"
"Kacchan, this isn't my home.... This is a human village, I'm not human. I shouldn't be here. I-I'm sorry, I really am.." Izu-chan said, sniffling through tears that couldn't be seen.
"Fucking..... Fine, if you're gonna leave, then I'm coming too."

Hello there, welcome to the end notes!! Here, I will put down info on all mythical species introduced in the chapter, as well as any other info needed for clarification.
First, I want to say that only mythics can use magic on their own. They still need to learn it, but unlike humans, they don't need magic items to use it. Katsuki is a human, meaning he needs his enchanted necklace in order to make explosions. Izuku is a fae, so he does not need any magic items.
Now, onto the mythic species introduced!!
Fae- Fae is an umbrella term used for most humaniod mythics, but there are some non-fae, humaniod mythics. All fae species have pointed ears.
Elf- Elves are a type of fae. They range in height from 1-3 feet. They typically have hair which is either green, red, orange, yellow, or brown. While their magic isn’t limited, they usually use plant magics, and most elven outfits are themed off of, or even made of some sort of plants, typically leaves. Elves are very agile and flexible. Their fingers are longer than the average human’s, but not by much. Very mischievous.
Pixie- Pixies are a type of fae. They usually only grow to be a centimeter or two in height. They have see-through, bug-like wings, which let them fly. They have special songs, called Pixie Songs, which can influence the way a pixie feels, though they don’t work on other species. Very mischievous.
Sprite- Sprites are a type of fae. Can range anywhere from 2 inches - 2 feet in height. They have butterfly wings. When scared, they can form a cocoon around themselves until they feel like the danger has passed. Often use flower themed accessories. They aren’t mischievous, but they are usually secluded away from other races.
Giant- Giants are a type of fae. Grow up to 50 feet tall. They are extremely destructive. No signifying traits other than their height.
