➸ d a r k m i r

It is known fact that you cannot dream of something that you haven't known or seen. Aislin realised this was not true in her case. She had never talked to anyone about Drake, the bracelet since the day she lost him, it was too painful to remember but discussing it with him Ayduin came naturally, like writing to a diary.

Had she really created a fantasy version of a boy to talk to about the things she couldn't talk to anyone about? Was all this not real and just in her head?

Since the dream that came was too dark to be true because if it was she wished it was not.

Flames of Vita, so this is how the flames looked. They were huge, so huge and towering it felt like they would spread around like fire and burn everything and anything in its path but it stood there burning in full glory. It was a beautiful sight to look at, warm and alluring.

And the Aislin realised near the red of the flame some darkness crept in. The flame flickered like a candle flame did in a light breeze. This made her tremble; she knew the darkness approaching was dangerous, unhealthy and consuming. She noticed a platinum fence build around the flame, too small compared to the flame but she knew it was impossible to cross.

Outside the fence laid four tents, probably for the guardians of fours realms. There was a spot for the fifth tent as well vacant for now. Around the flame was wide spread land with nothing but sand and darkness around. It was a weird place for such a mammoth flame to exist.

"You see me, Young Lady." A terrifying echoing voice said to her.

She jerked her head around to see who the voice belonged to. There was nothing, no one around. It surprised her that though she stood in front of the largest flame yet she was shivering with cold.

"I can't see you." She replied to no one in particular.

"But you can feel us and soon you will see us. Who are you?" The creepy voice asked with authority and anger.

She decided to ignore the question and maintained her silence. A piercing pain shot through her ear, her nose and throat. She wanted to scream but no sound came out. A warm liquid trickled down her nose, blood, she noticed and gasped.

"I asked you a question and I need an answer. You are not from any of the five realms." The voice said.

She coughed and realised her speaking ability was back.

"Who are you? I will let you know who I am if you let me know who you are." She said pretending to be brave since she was well accustomed to these nightmares.

Though they were scary, they were not real.

"Ah! Don't test my temper." The voice growled into darkness and the flame flickered again.

"Then you will not know who I am." She retorted back no idea where the guts were coming from.

"I know you talk with the Prince of Elm Lenora." The voice said it like a threat.

"I have no idea what you are talking about." She said playing the clueless card.

The voice laughed evilly, "Darkmir that is what I am called."

When the voice said the name it felt as if death was pulling her into unfathomable depths.

"And for your frivolity with me, I will make your poor Prince pay. He will soon join in as guardian here. But for now, till he tries to be a rebel, I will have fun with Mermaids." Darkmir said the words as if blood was dripping from each of them.

Her heart was clutched painfully within her, it was fine playing brave but if the dream was slightly true and Ayduin would be in trouble it would be her fault.

Her curse has struck again; she might lose someone she started liking as a friend even before she reached the point of love.

"Aislin, my name is Aislin. I apologise for my mistake. I am comfortable opening up to anyone hence the trouble in telling my name." She said making up the apology.

"You fear for his life, isn't it? Fools you people, creating liabilities for yourself." Darkmir said.

Something cold and hard touched her hand and she flinched, but the grip was strong.

"My dear Aislin, it will be nice to meet you in person. For now, enjoy your curse, it will not be long before I find out why the Hermit brought a petty human in the war zone." Darkmir's voices now terribly close to her ear and yet she could see no one.

Her ear throbbed with too much cold as she struggled to breathe.

"Farewell lovely!" The voice said as Aislin faded into darkness.

She eyes shot open and she looked at her surroundings. Home, she was still in her warm bed. She was breathing hard and the cold still surged inside her.

Nightmare, just another nightmare. But what was this? For the first time, she saw something terrible yet unfamiliar. She had no idea who to talk to. For a second she looked at the bracelet lying near her on the lamp table. Usually, she took it off and it was a good thing since she didn't want Ayduin to see the night mares she had with dead grandmother, or her father painfully holding on to her hand as a spirit or dead bodies of her friends.

But for now, it felt like wearing it and telling him about Darkmir. Will he believe? Was this the darkness he was talking about and no one knew? Then how come she was dreaming of this? And who the Hell was this mysterious Hermit?

Her wrist watch said three in the morning. What was with her and the sleep, they didn't get along well. She climbed out her bed and walked to the window, the only window in her room.

As she opened it, a cold breeze hit her face. She should have recoiled but she welcomed it and inhaled it, closing her eyes she let the peace fill her.

She needed a real friend but she was too afraid of the curse, she needed to tell someone the amount of pain she carried inside her but there was no one who would believe. And deep in thinking her hand reached out for the bracelet.

As soon as it was in her hand, a sigh left her mouth, a sigh of relief and confusion.

Ayduin? She thought softly wondering if sleeping time was similar in two dimensions.

Thankfully he answered almost immediately.

Aislin is everything well? He asked somehow sensing her stress.

I hope I didn't wake you up. She said stalling the time from telling the real truth.

I do not sleep much, victims of nightmares. He confessed gently.

She noticed the purple sky around him, the green lush battlefield stretch in front of him. Weren't they ice elves, how is everything not frozen?

Another thing we have in common! I just had a horrible nightmare. She confessed partially.

Care to elaborate? He asked hopefully.

She decided to change the topic for now.

Who are the Mermaids? She asked.

But Elf Prince was sharper than she thought.

Tell me about the nightmare Aislin, is it about the accident? He asked and her heart stopped for a moment.

He could not have seen her nightmares. She felt embarrassed.

So do you know anyone named Darkmir, since he was the protagonist of my dream? She tried to say lightly.

Aislin had heard him talk to her but for the first time, she could feel the utter shock and fear in her thoughts. The feelings were so intense that it was contagious and she felt it too.

What had made the ice Prince so stiff?
