𝐘𝐨𝐨𝐡𝐲𝐞𝐨𝐧.
The mirrors were beautiful.
That was my first thought as I entered the mansion.
Something about the tall, floor-length mirrors just attracted me.
Maybe it was the carvings.
Or maybe it was just the reflection.
So crisp and clear, the shine of it.
There were mirrors everywhere inside the mansion.
I saw myself.
I continued exploring. I entered the library, where I saw Dami.
I entered the bedrooms, there was Handong.
Gahyun was in another one.
I explored the hallways. Room after room after room. What was this mansion?
I trust Jiu. Just another holiday. A yearly tradition.
I saw her enter the double doors.
She was holding a jar.
Siyeon ran past me down the stairs. Exploring, perhaps?
I saw everyone slowly but excitedly gathering towards the jar.
I walked closer. It was a spider.
Sure, it was a beautiful one.
But something felt wrong.
Something, I just couldn't put my finger on it.
"What's that?" I asked, pointing at it, as if the answer would pop into my head.
That was a dumb question. I knew what it was.
I wanted to know what secrets it would hold.
"Come on, it's a spider," Sua said, laughing.
That might've been the wrong question to ask.
"No I–"
Whatever. I'm probably overthinking.
Something still felt wrong.
I grabbed Jiu's hand and pulled her away.
I didn't want anything to happen to her.
She brought the spider in, after all.
Soon everyone started to return to exploring.
Sua in an office.
Siyeon wandering the halls.
Handong near the bathroom.
Dami in the library.
Gahyun in a bedroom.
Jiu...I don't know.
Honestly, the spider still unsettles me.
Why?
Something told me the spider needs to go.
But with what?
Dead branch on the dresser?
Spiderwebs in the corner?
The photograph of us in a drawer? The one with all seven of us?
There was a butter knife, but I didn't want to get close to the spider. Sua usually killed the spiders when I needed her to.
There was a magnifying glass, but how would that–
Wait a minute.
I picked it up and looked at it.
I brought the jar to a sunlit area.
I reflected the light off the magnifying glass. Stupid idea. This would never work.
But then, in front of my eyes, I saw the spider burn.
I did it. I killed it.
Wait, it looks dead, right?
That night I entered a bedroom.
Jiu in the room left of me, Gahyun on the right.
Nothing seemed to happen.
Everything is fine.
I woke up in the middle of the night to screaming. Faint, muffled screaming.
It was directly to the right of me.
Gahyun?
Or maybe Siyeon two doors down?
I forgot about it as I fell back asleep.
The morning rays of the sun woke me up.
I walked next door. Around Gahyun's bed were tangling vines and branches, seeming to barricade her.
Broken branches.
She must've escaped.
Is this the spider's fault?
Who am I?
I stood in front of the mirror in my room. The beautiful mirror I noticed when I first walked in.
Where am I?
I'm just trying to find myself.
My reflection stared back at me...
Until it didn't.
Suddenly, black tar filled the mirror.
I felt something happen to me. A strange feeling.
Like I've been...almost disconnected.
Disconnected from myself.
What is this?
Am I trapped in the nightmare?
It's all my fault...
It was the spider.
It was the burning of the spider.
I have the curse of the spider.
