Chapter 16

Harry's POV

Christmas is just around the corner. Teddy and I are currently at Diagon Alley doing present shopping.

The Weasley's have invited us over to the Burrow like they do every year. They've even included Draco and Scorpius after Ron, Ginny, and George explained how different he now is. Molly, of course asked me to further prove this statement, which I gladly did so and she agreed to invite him for Christmas Eve dinner.

"What should I get Scorpius?" Teddy asked me.

"I don't know. You know him the best." I said.

"Yeah, but I want to get him something special." He looked down in thought.

"I think he'll love anything you get him."

"Can we look in there?" Teddy pointed to an interesting little store that had lots of cool little knick knacks sitting on the window seal.

"Sure." We walked into the store. There were only a few other people inside.

We started looking around the shop.

It was kinda odd. There were porcelain fairies, dream catchers, essential oils, some wizarding artifacts I didn't really know, and other such oddities.

I came across a pair of bracelets. One was silver and green with a forest like charm in the center. The other one was gold and red with a patch of red roses like charm in the center as well.

"Do you like it?" A lady asked me. She wore a uniform with the shops name on it. I knew she was an employee.

"Yes. What are they exactly?"

"Enchanted bracelets. When both people wear the bracelets then a sense of calmness over comes both of them. Usually couple's use stuff like these, or friends with a strong connection with each other."

That's kinda cool. "How does it work?"

"Well when they're on, both people will be able to, in a sense, feel each other and so that creates a calmness especially in stressful situations. Not only that, but you can activate it and deactivate it whenever you'd like by casting your wand over it and casting the spell that's engraved on the inside." I flipped it over and saw two words. One said iremia, the other said Afi.

"There's two?"

"Oh right, sorry. The bracelets also let both feel each other's emotions and again you can activate it or deactivate using the other spell." She explained.

I would really like to get these for Draco and I. He's the only one I haven't figured a gift out for, but is this too. I don't know. Intimate?

I mean she did say close friends like to use them too so, maybe it'll be fine.

I'll ask Teddy.

"Teddy!" I shouted. He came from around a corner. "Yeah?" He asked.

"Do you think Draco might like something like this?" I asked.

He took the green one out of my hands and inspected it. "Yeah. Especially since they're enchanted."

"How did you know that?"

He shrugged. "I just figured since it's got the two spells on the back."

"True. So you think he'd really like it?"

"Yeah, I say go for it. It's like your proving your relationship to one another." He smirked at me.

"Teddy! It's not like that. We're just friends." I told him.

"For now."

I rolled my eyes and turned back at the lady. She wore an amused smile. "I'd like to buy these."

"Alright."

When we finished in that store, Teddy dragged me to the quidditch store.
"I think I know what I want to get Scorpius."

"What's that?"

"I want to get him a golden snitch." He dragged me to the aisle with the sets of quidditch items.

"A snitch?"

"Yeah, he's mentioned to me several times that he wants to learn to play seeker like you and Draco. He wants to join the team at Hogwarts." I smiled.

"That's great, I bet Draco will be pleased."

We finished up our shopping and left Diagon Alley for home.

When we got there Draco and Scorpius stood at the door.
"Oh there you guys are, we've been knocking, but no one's answered." Draco said noticing us.

"Sorry, we were in Diagon Alley doing some more Christmas shopping."

"I see. We finished ours up yesterday." He said.

"Well come on in." I opened the door for the three of them, then entered after them.

"Coffee?" I asked him. After spending several weeks with Draco, I know he prefers coffee over tea. He enjoys both, but coffee just hits the spot for him.

The boys ran off and Draco and I walked into the kitchen.

"Sure." I set a pot to brew and turned back to him.

"Any reason you came so suddenly or did Scorpius drag you?" He smiled shyly at me.

"Both?" It came out more like a question. "Well, for one. Have you read the daily prophet lately?"

"No?"

Draco pulled a piece of paper out of his robe and unfolded it for me to read.

The headlines read 'Muggle family killed in busy uptown London.'

'A report from the aurors just came in that a death eater broke in to a Muggle home and slaughtered a family of three. A mother, a father, and a four year old baby girl.

Does this attack have any connections with the auror ambush only several weeks prior?'

"That's not very far from here." I said as I finished reading.

"Yeah. We need to be on guard."  I nodded my head in agreement. "Well anyways, getting off that topic, I wanted to ask you something."

I lifted my eyebrow at him. He looked down and picked at his hands. "Uhm, I know the Weasley's invited me for Christmas, but Scorpius and I always have spent Christmas with Pansy and Blaise."

"Do you not want to come? You don't have to, I'm sorry if I came off as pushy." I said sadly.

"No! No, it's not that. I was wondering if maybe, I don't know, if they could join us?" My eyes widened. "I mean, it's just they're my best friends and as much as I would like to get to know the Weasley's more, I just don't want to spend a Christmas without them and so I just thought maybe they could, you know. Tag along?"

"Draco. They're your friends. I'm not gonna strip them away from you or something, if they'd like to come then consider them already invited." I don't know much about Blaise and Pansy. We spat a few words to each other at school, but that's because our houses were rivals. Neither of their families participated in the war, considered themselves to be on middle ground. So, I don't really mind. "I'll owl Molly and let her know."

"Thanks Harry! I really appreciate it. They're the only ones who stuck by me after the war and helped a lot in raising Scorpius when I was trying to prove myself to the ministry."

"I know. I remember."

"You- what?"

"I was there at all of your trials." I told him.

"You were?"

"Yeah I was, and I also, might have uh, helped your case along."

"What?" He stared wide at me. Confusion spread on his face before recollection dawned on him. "You were that anonymous tip, weren't you? The one that stated I wasn't a death eater because I said I didn't recognize you at the manor."

I turned away from him. I didn't tell him because I was afraid that he would get angry that I got myself involved instead of letting himself figure it out.

Strong arms circled around me. I flinched violently. Not only because he startled me, but because he grazed a fresh cut from this morning. "Thank you." He whispered. I turned around and wrapped my hands around him.

His body shook and I pulled back to look at him. Tears streamed down his cheeks.

I lifted my hand up and brushed the tears. "It was the least I could do. You saved my life and I can't thank you enough for that."

He pulled me tighter, but when I flinched he pulled away.

He grabbed my hand and dragged me to the living room. He sat me down before he kneeled in front of me and lifted my shirt up.

I had a gruesome cut that recently just stopped bleeding. "Oh Harry, why didn't you tell me?" He said pulling out his wand.

"I didn't want to worry you."

He looked up at me. "Harry. No one should suffer the way you do. Why are always trying to protect everyone, even from yourself?"

"Because it's the only thing I know how to do." I whispered.
