Chapter 14
And so, Thomas' journey to Antrum began. He was ready for anything that would come to him, but he will have to endure it with only his strength and will to live. And he has a partner to help him on his journey. This is the beginning...of Thomas' journey...
Thomas and the purple mermaid went through an old village surrounded by broken down trees. They stopped to look at them. Thomas was in shock.
"Dear God... I can't believe they used to be trees..." He said. "Man, this is crazy...?"
"Yeah, yeah, they were like SO disgusting before the island sunk." The purple mermaid groaned. "Come on, let's go and get this over with. I'm getting a migraine from this trip."
"We only went one fucking mile." Thomas snapped. "And, I thought you said you wanted to go on an adventure."
"I only said that so I can get away from that creepy fatass friend of your's." The purple mermaid complained. "I hate adventures."
"I don't even know the guy." Thomas argued. "And I certainly don't wanna know you."
"Back at ya, old man!" The purple mermaid talked back.
"Let's just get to the fucking cabin!!" Thomas shouted in rage.
"Whoa!" The purple mermaid exclaimed. "Shouty much?"
"Yeah, I know!! I'm a fucking loudmouth with no fucking friends or life!!" Thomas said, stomping off. "Excuse me for living and being a fucking jerkass!! You shouldn't have to tell me that!!"
"Dude, CHILL! I never said that!" The purple mermaid said, catching up to Thomas.
"I know what you fucking said!!" Thomas yelled. "Come on, let's go!!"
As if you knew what I meant... The purple mermaid thought defensively, as she and Thomas continued their journey.
A few miles later...
As Thomas and the mermaid continued walking (and floating on the mermaid's part), they stopped in front of a rundown McDonald's restaurant.
"There was a McDonald's on Antrum Island?" Thomas asked. "Gross..."
"Are you totally kidding me??" The purple mermaid exclaimed happily. "I LOVE McDonald's! When I was little, I used to go there all the time with my family. Before they........"
"Before they what?" Thomas asked. "And how have you been to McDonald's?? They don't have any in the ocean!"
"You'd be, like, surprised, dude." The purple mermaid said. She then spun her fishtail extremely rapidly. Then suddenly, her fishtail turned into a pair of legs. With a green bikini bottom.
"How the hell did you do that??" Thomas asked in shock.
"It's a thing me and the girls do whenever we visit land." The purple mermaid said.
"Wait, you know what a McDonald's is and you've been on land before," Thomas started, "but you didn't know what a mall is 'till now??"
"We don't visit the land that much, okay?!" The purple mermaid cried defensively.
"And, didn't you point out that you weren't from this island?" Thomas asked.
"Let's just go inside and eat!" The purple mermaid cried, walking into the McDonald's.
"Hey, I'm not eating that shit!" Thomas called out.
"Suit yourself." The purple mermaid called out. "This WILL be a long journey though."
"Oh, Jesus Christ, FINE!!" Thomas snapped, walking into the McDonald's. "But, if I get fat like that dude on Super Size Me, I'll pin it on you!"
When they went into the McDonald's, it was completely empty and dirty.
"We really gonna eat in this shithole???" Thomas asked. "What if the food's long expired."
"Those guys, like, didn't seem to care." The purple mermaid said, pointing at three fish skeletons floating above a booth over an entirely uneaten set of three happy meals.
"Oh my GOD!" Thomas cried, as he saw the skeletons trying not to throw up.
"Oh, stop being so dramatic!" The purple mermaid said. "Let's just see if the food looks good."
"I sincerely doubt it, kid!" Thomas said. "That food HAS to be rotted, expired, AND soggy all at the same time!"
"Nope. It looks all good." The purple mermaid said, looking into each meal box. "And they smell fresh too."
"What?? Let me see!" Thomas cried, running up to the happy meals and smelling them. "They ARE fresh! How is this possible? They should be soggy and expired! I don't get it!!"
"You really need to chill out, man." The purple mermaid said. "Just enjoy them while we can. It'll be fuuuun."
"...........Ugh, fine!" Thomas groaned. "I mean, if it's good, it's good. But, it's still McDonald's..." He and the purple mermaid sat down across from each other and begun eating.
"I haven't eaten since the last stuff we stole." The purple mermaid said. "I was SO hungry. And there was literally nothing to eat anywhere!" Despite how hungry she was, she ate like a lady. Thomas ate quietly as well.
"Well, I'm happy for you, kid." Thomas sighed, chewing on a double mac. "Actually, I never got your actual name. What is your name?"
"I'm Ginger." The purple mermaid said. "What about you?"
"Thomas Calloway." Thomas said. "As you know, I'm from the surface world. I came here searching for something YOU and your friends took from us."
"Yeah, I know.." Ginger sighed. "But, hey. I'm, like, helping you get it back, am I?"
"Yeah, I guess..." Thomas sighed. "I guess..."
After they finished eating, Thomas and Ginger continued their journey to the end of the island. They now walked through a landscape surrounded by hills.
"Isn't the view just lovely?" Thomas asked sarcastically. "For a Devil worshipping island."
"Not everyone here worshipped the Devil, you know." Ginger pointed out. "There are good people who lived here, ya know."
"How do you know?" Thomas asked.
"Well, I've..............been here before with the girls." Ginger admitted. "We came to visit and the people weren't that friendly. Maybe because we weren't really friendly back."
"Shocker." Thomas said, rolling his eyes. "Wait, this island sunk in the 70s. And you girls are teenagers. You'd have to be grownups by now. How the hell'd you visit the island and are still in your teens?"
"We're, like, a thousand years older than you or any life form existing now." Ginger said. "But, we're still teens."
".............." Thomas didn't know what to say.
"Let's just keep going." Ginger rolled her eyes, as she and Thomas continued walking. "But first, I should change my legs back."
"Why?" Thomas asked.
"It's kinda embarrassing walking around like a flipping model." Ginger said, changing her legs back into a fishtail.
"And barely wearing anything isn't?" Thomas asked, causing Ginger to blush.
"Come on, let's GO!" Ginger pouted, passing by Thomas. Thomas rolled his eyes as he and Ginger continued onward.
Later...
Thomas and Ginger made their way to another abandoned and rundown village with multiple graffiti covering nearly the entire village. All of them say "Hail Satan!"
"Jesus, Mary, Joseph..." Thomas whispered in horror. "What happened...?"
"Devil worshiping spray paint........everywhere." Ginger said in awe and horror. "Totally bonkers if you ask me..."
"Definitely..." Thomas agreed in shock. "I just don't understand why anyone would worship something that caused so much hate in the world. War, poverty, death, numerous violence........... What has the world come to..?"
"Jesus, Thomas." Ginger said in shock. "It's okay. No reason to get, like, deep..."
"This movie....." Thomas continued, trembling and tearing up with his fists clenched. "Took...EVERYTHING from me...."
"Thomas...?" Ginger said, worried about someone else besides herself for once. Thomas suddenly fell to his knees and screamed at the top of his lungs.
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" He screamed in loud agony, pounding the ground while Ginger gasped in horror. "NOOOOOO, NO, NO, NOOOO!!! GOD FUCKING DAMNIT!!!! GODDAMN IT, GODDAMN IT, GODDAMN IIIIIIIT!!"
"Thomas, that's enough!" Ginger cried, grabbing Thomas' shoulders, but Thomas pushed her away and started punching houses around him.
"Fuck you!!" He screamed, punching several houses. "Fuck you, fuck you, FUCK YYOOOOOOOOOOUUUU!!" He continued punching random house despite his bloody knuckles as Ginger continuously tried to stop him. Then, he collapsed to the ground and burst into tears burying his face in his hands. Ginger stared awkwardly and nervously as Thomas sobbed loudly. Then suddenly, she leaned down and hugged him.
"You're.....okay." She said awkwardly. "You're here. You're alive. ......You're.....okay."
"I don't feel like it." Thomas sobbed. "I just don't feel like it....." He continued sobbing while Ginger hugged him unaware that a figure was watching them from afar.
"You'll know your part in this soon," The figure said, "young fool. ....Ew, spider!" The figure flicked a spider off his shoulder.
