Calm down Luke, calm down. I said to myself for the thousandth time now. It's been three hours since we came up from that useless trip where Sandra literally kicked us out without saying anything.

After we left, she stayed there to make sure that they didn't know about Sara. I have no clue who she meant by 'they' but what angers the most is the way she disrespected my mate and I without even letting us know the proper reason. Even though Luna didn't say anything, I could feel it, she's hurt. She wanted to spend more time with Sara but she couldn't.

The whole ride back home was silent and to add more problems to it, a lot of vampires were trying to get a peak of who Luna is. The vampires are so damn curious to know the girl who is staying with the king. Even though I ordered them not to pry on our personal matters, nothing could hold onto their curiosity.

I am glad that at least the clothes she wore covered her whole body including the mark. I don't need another rebellion with all these problems going on. If they get to know about Luna, they'll think that she is manipulating me to think that she is my mate so that she can kill me. Just like Aurora did.

So far, Aurora has kept her mouth shut about me having a mate and I hope she maintains it that way. Thanks to my parents, the ministers didn't call for emergency meeting about this matter. But I would be a fool to think they let this go, they are planning something big and I wonder what it is.

Luna is currently sleeping after taking her medicine. This whole point of us visiting them was ridiculous, she needed rest but because of my stubbornness we were forced to travel and now here we are at the same point where we started.

"Your majesty," a guard knocked my door.

"What?"

"Milton is here," he bowed as I opened the door.

I actioned Milton to come inside making sure not to slam the door. Luna is sleeping and I don't want her to wake up. The only thing that calms me down is my mate's presence.

"Thankyou for helping Luna," I said as soon as we sat on the couch.

His face widened in shock, "your majesty, please don't hurt her. She means no harm," he started shaking his head, stuttering words full of concern and fear.

Why is he worried about her so much?

"Milton, you understood it wrongly. I am genuinely thanking you for saving her life, it means a lot," I gave him a smile.

As I expected, he looked at me like I am dragging him into some trap. I know he is hiding something and I know very well that me asking him out would do no good. Force would only make him lie in a convincing way and I won't get my truth.

"I don't understand your majesty, she..." he paused for a moment internally battling whether to tell me about the curse or not.

"I know about the curse and I also know that she means no harm," I paused, waiting for his reaction.

He studied my face for a minute before letting out a breath realizing I am not playing him. I am not lying but I am indeed trying to get truth from his mouth. And I honestly hope it's working.

"But why? I mean..."

Why am I not killing Luna? Oh Milton, why will I? She's my mate, my other half.

"She's, my mate."

Milton gasped as his face filled with some unknown emotion before his eyes started watering, keeping his hands on his face, "why is the fate cruel for my daughter," he sniffed so silently that if not for my vampire hearing I wouldn't have heard it.

What the hell does he mean by his daughter?

Maybe he saved her so he might be considering her as his daughter.

"I know her before I knew about the curse," I chuckled recalling our memories together. Telling him my side of the story is the only way to make him trust me enough to speak the truth, I know he is hiding something.

"I first saw her at a market, she was looking more like gawking everything as if it was her first time visiting it," her doe eyes longingly looking at things as if it's something special. That time I didn't understand but now I know why she wanted every normal thing.

Like she said, normal is so underrated and now I understand it. Normal is indeed underrated.

"The moment I saw her, I knew she was my mate," I don't have to see his face to know how attentively he is listening to my words. It's like he wanted to know everything about her. "She was on a vacation when I met her, a vacation from her destiny."

I slowly started telling him some bits and pieces of our happy memories together, leaving the kidnapping part. I could feel him trying hard not to cry in front of his king.

"She's the only good thing that ever happened to me in a long time and if something would've happened to her, I wouldn't have forgiven myself. So once again thankyou for saving my mate, I meant it."

As if on cue, he spoke, "was she happy? I mean with you, those thirty days?"

Of course, she was happy, if not she wouldn't have gotten my heartbeat as her tattoo. That was her extreme way of showing how much she loved me.

I nodded my head, "we were so on love, those were the happiest days of both of our life. We even exchanged promise rings like couples do," I showed him the ring, the one I am never intending to take off.

After hearing my words, he was full on crying. Okay, not going to lie, this isn't the reaction I was expecting from him. Why the hell is he crying?

"Milton?"

He shook his head, "if only I knew about this before, I wouldn't have let them go, she would've been alive," he sniffed, gasping for air.

What the hell is he talking about?

Damn, why is everyone talking in Greek and Latin?

I've never seen Milton so depressed. Even when his wife and daughter died, he was holding up so good that I sometimes wondered whether they really died.

Wait, don't tell me... Holly shit.

"Milton?"

Please tell me whatever I am thinking is wrong. I cannot see Luna more hurt than she is now. But the next words he spoke proved me wrong.

"Luna, she is my daughter, the one born form the love I and had."

What the hell? I froze on the spot.

"We knew, we knew that she was the one who's born to kill you. At that time, you weren't really you. You were in the darkest point of your life after your sister's death, cold and hormonal," he sniffed.

Wait, hormonal? What the hell does he mean by that?

"You didn't listen to anyone; you were busy trying to find more details about my daughter so that you can kill her and break the curse. Me and Celine didn't want our daughter to die, we wanted her to have a life."

No... No...No...

"So, I decided to lie, to the whole world that my mate and daughter died. The day she was born, I made a plan to make sure they escape safe from this kingdom. I don't care if you decide to punish me for lying but I did what I did to save my daughter."

He is right, there's no way I would've known that Luna is my mate and I would've killed my own mate with my hands. The thought itself is sending shivers through my spine. If he didn't have done that, I don't know what I would've done.

Hell.

"But you left them to suffer," anger swelled up when I remembered how Luna and her mother was suffering. She still thinks her father kicked her out and I wonder if it's a lie her mother told to protect Luna.

"I swear I didn't know their life will become more miserable when they left the palace, I should've known. But I couldn't risk of you finding about her. So, I asked Celine to run far away from me to a place where none of us could find them. I should've given them everything they needed to survive but we were in such a hurry that I failed to look into it. I was the reason for my own mate's death and my daughter's suffering. I shouldn't have made foolish decisions out of blue," he sobbed holding his hands to his face.

My whole mind was empty and numb. I couldn't let his words sink into me; I am too shocked to even react. One side is the father of my mate who did everything he can to protect her and the other side is my mate who's hurting herself thinking her father kicked them out because she is an anomality.

Why do I feel like we are falling deep inside the never-ending loop of problems?

"Is that true?" I suddenly heard my mate's voice.

Shit. Since when is she here? Did she hear everything?

Shit, no, this is not the way I wanted my mate to know the truth. Hell, how did I failed to note my mate's presence?

Oh right, I was too shocked to even realize what's going on my surroundings.

When I turned behind, there she was, my mate, her eyes blood red with tears, on the verge of breakdown.

"Luna," I stood up to go near her. She shook her head and moved back. I tried hard not to flinch. I get that, she was confronted with something so big that she indeed needs space and it wasn't her but her emotions. I get that she was lied to her whole life, I get that she is hurt and her emotions are all messed but still her rejecting my presence hurts more than I expected it to be.

Don't be hurt by her actions, she needs space. Think from her place, I repeated those words in my head again and again.

"Luna," this time it was Milton who stood up.

She again shook her head as tears flowed freely through her eyes, "D-don't," she wiped her tears frantically before she went back inside the room.

What is she doing?

I could feel her pain through the bond, she is hurt.

A minute later she came back fully dressed. Shit. Is she leaving me?

"Luna?" fear spiked through me as I looked at her eyes.

All I wanted to do was hug my mate and ease her pain but I know that she needs some time herself. I don't even know how I would've reacted when I am in her place, so far, she is reacting so calmer than I expected her to be.

"I am going out for a walk, I need some air," she gave me a small squeeze before she left the room with her vampire speed.

Woah, this was my first time seeing her use her vampire strength and damn, she looks super attractive with her powers. Okay, I know now is not the time for fanboying my mate.

"You," I turned to Milton, "you tell me everything from the start."

I know I should be angry at him for his betrayal but I cannot, he did what he did to save his mate and daughter. I would've done the same if I was in his place.
