We came here to enjoy; this picnic was supposed to be way for us to bond but it's the exact opposite. All I feel is terrible, Luna was talking about her childhood memories but I couldn't listen to her.

All those memories I tried to suppress; those are the only things running in my mind. Roses, blood, revenge, massacre. If Luna gets to know about the sins I've committed, she would run away from me. But I'm not going to apologize for those sins, I did what I could do. Those bastards deserved it.

'Not now, I'm here with my wallflower to make her bucket lists true. This is not the time to relive the memories,' I reminded myself. Taking a deep breath, I turned my attention back to my mate.

"Every day she will come home late and bribe me with her fascinating stories, I think those are the sweetest memories of mine," she giggled.

My mate was staring at the sky deep in thoughts. She's beautiful, how could one be so perfect and flawless.

"What do you think about the idea of supernatural's Luna?"

Her breath hitched for a second, I could feel her heart beat raise. Is she scared of me or did she already know that I'm a vampire?

"I think they exist," her voice came out shaken.

"Wouldn't it be so cool to have super powers?" I wondered out loud.

"No, it is not, everything comes with a price and it's something I'm not willing to pay. But we don't get to choose or have a choice, do we?" she spat out.

Why is she talking like she is one, my mate is a human right?

I wonder what created her hate for supernatural.

Shit, she hates supernatural, if she knows I am one, she will hate me too.

This is getting messed up than I expected.

Why can't my mate be a vampire, it would have made everything much simpler. I would have marked my mate by this time if she was a vampire. Both of us would have felt the mate bond and everything would have been simple.

But I'm not going to change a single thing about Luna, she was everything I could every ask in a mate. Calm, compassionate, innocent, sweet, hardworking. My everything, my mate, my hope, my sunshine, my wallflower.

"I don't hate super naturals," her nose scrunched up, "if I was given an option to choose being a supernatural and being human, I would always choose human."

I could hear the hidden words behind it, 'I choose to be normal,' that's what she meant.

It's going to take a lot of convincing to change her in the future.

Luna gradually fell asleep while talking, she must have been tired from the journey. She didn't complain about me lying down next to her, it only proves the fact that how much she trusts me. And I have no intention of breaking it, I'll protect my mate with all my might.

But that doesn't mean I don't get to stare at my beautiful mate while she is sleeping. I'm not a creep, it's the mate bond making me want to keep looking at her. She is literally glowing in the moon light.

I should thank the stars for giving me such an amazing mate.

My phone vibrated breaking me out of my stance, someone's calling me.

Who the heck is calling me at this time?

It's Carter, why is he calling me now?

"Carter," I picked up the phone after creating a decent distance between me and Luna, I don't want to wake her up.

"Lucas, I'm sorry for disturbing you at this hour but it's the only time everyone will be asleep and I can talk with you without any trouble," his voice sounded serious.

If he is calling me at this hour then the reason should be important. It's around three, the time vampires sleep like a pig, no one could disturb or wake them up, not even a tight slap.

"We might need you here sooner than we expected, the leeches are planning something. And Jeremy, he's found to be visiting the human territory more often than the normal," he paused.

This is expected, they don't want me in the throne. Me being in the throne meant they don't get to accumulate more money through corruption or they're allowed to have a human slave for blood and other cranial desires.

"It's just been few days and they are already questioning where the king is, they are plotting something. We need you here soon Lucas, I'm sorry I couldn't help you with this."

Shit, that means I should go back sooner than expected, how am I going to convince Luna?

"Observe, we'll wait. If there's no way I'll come back."

"Goodnight," Carter knows the conversation is over. That's the perk of being a king no one disobeys you.

"Hmm" I cut the call.

I just hope everything is under control and I get to stay with Luna for the next 27 days. There's no way I'm going back to that hell so soon. Internal politics and the repetitive life, I don't want that shit.

If I go there, then I'll be stuck there at least for a week or two. Those hags are planning something and they will lock me inside the palace in the name of meetings. Sometimes I feel like I have no power being a king.

I lied down next to my mate thinking what am I going to do if I was to go back sooner than expected. I might take my mate with me.

"No," my mate hissed.

Is she having a bad dream?

Just like last time she's sweating, her hands fisted, teeth gritted, she's definitely having a bad dream.

Didn't she have the dream catcher I gave her?

Shit, it's in our home. We directly came here, what the heck is wrong with me. How could I forget it?

"Luna," I shook her.

Why couldn't she wake up?

If someone's having a bad dream, they'll wake up when we force them to. But Luna is not, she is so lost in the dream like someone's trapped her there.

"Luna..." I shook her with force.

"No... No... No..." she breathed hard.

"Luna, that's just a dream."

"Wake up," I shook her harder.

She gasped loud, "Luke..." she turned to my side.

"Yes, it's me Luna." I paused, "You are safe here with me, that's just a dream," I caressed her hair.

Her eyes pooled with tears, shit what is happening to her?

"I-I'm tired of this Luke, it's too much to take," she sniffed trying hard not to cry.

Who are those people in her dream and what have they done to my wallflower?

"Shh, that's just a dream Luna," I wiped her tears. She shook her head sniffing.

"Luna, I promise to protect you forever," I cuddled her towards my chest, holding her tight. I know nothing I tell her now will console her but I can make her feel protected.

"You are safe with me," I felt Luna's tiny fingers fisting my shirt.

With a hand protectively on her waist and the other on her head, I wrapped her inside my hands like a cocoon, she'll be safe with me.

"Shh... Sleep," I whispered. She gave a small nod sniffing.

A few minutes later I felt my mate sleep peacefully in my embrace.

I have decided, there is no way I'm going to leave my mate alone. By the time I'm leaving back to my kingdom, I'm going with her. Even if it meant lying to her.
