Chapter-11 Eagle and Razor
I should have known where the stationary shop is. I must have looked like a rotten tomato when I asked Luke about the stationary shop. Luke didn't say much and took me to the stationary shop like I asked.
I got threads, papers, tapes and few more stuffs with the money I earned. By the time we came back home, I thought Luke would've found out what I am planning by now. But boy I am wrong; this guy over here literally has no idea on what we are going to do.
"I get that you are born with a golden spoon but I didn't know you were this dumb," I snorted shaking my head.
"Hey, that's rude," Luke rolled his eyes keeping a hand in his heart. Him and his playfulness, I could never get over it.
"We are making a kite, rings any bell? Thread, paper, tapes," I showed him every item for to make him understand.
"Ah... well if so, then be ready to lose, I'm an ace at making kites."
Who is he kidding, if that's the case he should have already found out that we are making kites, I'm sure that he is lying.
"Huh, let's see."
Both of us started making our kites and he wasn't he wasn't kidding when he said he is good at it. He made his kite even before I could go half way through mine, this guy is indeed good at making kites.
"Done," he kept his kite in front of me. His kite was magnificent and perfect, I know for sure that my kite will not even come below it.
"Could you make mine too?" I grinned at him softly trying to convince him to make me a kite like he did. Me making kites will look more like me murdering it at this point.
He thought for a second, "Hmm what would I get from that?" I snorted.
"What do you need?"
What is he five? Asking for something in return like a kid.
"I get to use a favor sometime in the future." I nodded my head.
"No, nodding won't work. I need an agreement here," he wrote something in the sticky note and signed it. "Luna owns Luke a favor," he read out loud showing me the paper.
"Fine," I signed in his childish agreement. I thought he is going to keep it aside but he tucked it his pocket sound and safe before he started doing my kite.
Halfway through the making he startled me with a random question, "Why kite though?"
'Can I get a kite too?' I asked Charlotte looking at the kids flying kites with their parents.
'No, kites are for useless normal people. You are special and such silly things makes you weak,' she spit out adding another mud bag in my bucket.
'Work harder, you need to be strong.'
I whined, struggling with the over weighing bucket. While the kids were enjoying at beach I was working out, preparing for a war.
'I was just 11, how can I carry fifteen kilograms alone?' I sniffed holding back my tears.
"You there?" Luke brought me back to reality.
"Kites is once such things that makes me feel normal," it's something I was denied of in the first place, I wanted to say but I couldn't.
"Have you ever filed a kite before," he hesitated. He too knew my answer, I won't be surprised by it though. Anyone could guess these things from the things I've shared with Luke.
I shook my head and immediately his face dropped, "Now come on, we have a kite to fly, faster."

I never knew flying a kite would feel so liberating, when my kite flied high above the ground like a warrior, I felt like I myself was flying. The wind was gentle and strong enough for the kite to roar. Waves hushed through the sand making its own music. The orange and red sun, made the experience more exhilarating and calming at the same time.
"Now it's time for our competition," Luke grinned making his kite raise higher.
"Oh yeah, it's on," both of us started flying our kites higher and trying to cut each other's kite.
His kite was red as cherry and mine was sea form green. On contrary, I took his red thread and he used mine for a fair play. It took me quite a lot of time to learn how to fly the kite properly but Luke not even once complained, teaching me with a happy face.
"My Razor will cut your Eagle just like that, wait and watch," he moved his thread trying to cut my eagle.
It was Luke's idea to name our kites, he said that naming our kites will make our competition more intense and he is right. I'm over enjoying every minute of it.
"Nope, my Eagle is better. Prepare yourself to lose Luke," I giggled twisting my thread like he thought me and pulled it down all at once. Just like I hoped, my Eagle tangled his Razor and cut his thread.
Razor roared free in the sky as I heard Luke groan like a kid.
"And that's how you win," I chuckled laughing at his reaction. Now I know why winning feels so well, that adrenal rush and ego boost, it's worth a try.
He nodded walking towards me giving me a skeptical look, making me wonder what he's up to, "Your Eagle indeed won," he chuckled standing in front of me.
Before I could get a grasp of what's happening, he cut my thread making my Eagle fly free in the air just like his Razor, "And now we are even," he smirked with an evil grin.
I gasped, "Luke I'm going to kill you," with that I started chasing him as both of ran in the shore with me trying to kill him for the evil thing of his.
"Stop, if I catch you, I'll definitely kill you," I panted running harder.
"Only if you catch me," he ran a bit faster making the distance between us grow.
Both of us laughing hard with me chasing him, everything feels so right and normal. I've never been this happier my whole life, there's no worries of the future, no spirits, no curses. At this moment it's just me and Luke, two people enjoying their life being carefree.
"Hey you alright?" Luke came next to me. That's when I realized I stopped running, Luke looked at me with concern. Taking that to my advantage I pinched his ears hard and twisted it till I was satisfied.
"Oww," he rubbed his ears.
"There you go, this is what you get for killing my Eagle," I started laughing looking at his reaction.
"Hey that's painful," he chuckled.
"And you should think before you do something like that again," I grinned lying down on the sand looking at the warm sky making amends with the night to protect earth.
"What are you thinking," Luke spoke lying next to me.
"Thinking about the transaction happening between the day and night," I sighed.
"Explain," his voice was not ordering, it sounded more curious and softer.
"The light, the day takes the responsibility of making us bright and energetic. It instills hope and faith with its beautiful shades of orange, blue and red. But that's not enough, at the end of the day you will need little darkness in your life to neutralize the effect.
"And the night takes its responsibility, the day hands us over to the night to be taken care of. Like the dark clouds clear the sky, letting the moon and starts shine, you need to accept yourself to shine the brightest. Complaining only makes you be surrounded with more and more clouds.
"Day and night, without them we cannot coexist or live alive."
"Deep and demanding," Luke said in a base voice darker than his usual tone.
I know, at the end of the day, I have to face my problems. But not today, for the next twenty-eight days, I will enjoy my life to its extent before I face my problem. Because in the end, either I will die in the hands of the vampire king or he will die in my hands.
In one way or other this curse should end.
