CHAPTER 11
AWESOME, AWESOME

THE months of May and June were warm and pretty. Everything was in bloom, especially with Forks' amount of consistent rain. Margo was happy to see the lilac bushes outside her house sprouting new flowers again. Forks wasn't so bad in spring and summer, even with the rain.

Through the short time span of two months, Margo got to know Jacob Black better than ever before. She would constantly be over his house each week for movie nights; sometimes she'd even bring Melinda. She never thought how well they would get along. They were fans of the same movies and music. There was always a topic for discussion with them, although it seemed that Margo ended every argument with a fact that Jacob didn't know, but he didn't mind. Billy liked her a lot, especially because she got Jacob to explore his ancestral surroundings more. Margo always wanted to see more of the beaches at La Push and learn new history from them. Billy appreciated that, but liked that she also helped Jacob cook dinner for them every once in a while. She was practically part of the family, just as much as Charlie and Bella Swan were.

For the rest of the summer, Margo decided to accompany her aunt on a big road trip in Canada. She had never been, but Jenny had, and Margo thoroughly enjoyed just the thought of being in a place that wasn't Forks. Although she missed her friends, Canada was a change of scenery that Margo was grateful for. The weather was so much nicer – I mean, Margo practically forgot what the sun looked like until she got there. It was warm and beautiful and everything in between. They, of course, visited the one spot Margo wanted to see: Niagara Falls, and it was just as beautiful as the photos. Rainbows almost glistened off the water.

But all good things must come to an end. She started back at school in September, and she was finally a senior. She only had one year left of being a teenager, until she officially entered adulthood, though she would be graduating at seventeen. Thankfully, she applied for early admission last year, and already got accepted into a couple schools. Weirdly enough, the only college she hadn't applied to yet was her dream school. She would soon – she'd have to. Maybe she was just nervous, that's all.

Within the first week of starting senior year, Margo was already swamped with assignments. She had a ten paged Romeo and Juliet essay, a huge AP math packet that was fifteen pages long, and then a photography assignment. All in the first week. Margo found herself staying up most nights trying to finish each one, allowing her to wonder if this was what college was going to be like. She hoped not; she valued her sleep. It allowed her brain to rest. She, thankfully, finished her essay in two nights. She'd try to do her whole math packet and come up with an idea for photography tonight, then exact the latter tomorrow. Hopefully.

Margo pulled into her usual spot in the high school parking lot, slumping against her seat and closing her eyes. She pinched the bridge of her nose. The smell of hot coffee wafted into her nose, and she realized she almost forgot her travel mug full of it was still sitting in her cup holder. She picked up the mug and took a large gulp, enjoying the peace of silence within her car, while people were probably yelling and shuffling to class outside.

Suddenly, a loud knocking sounded on her driver's side window.

"HELLO!" Melinda's shrill voice echoed off the glass.

Margo tugged up the hood on her sweatshirt and she pulled the strings so the fabric closed around her face. "No one's home!"

Melinda cupped her hands around her eyes and pressed her face against the glass. "I can see you."

Margo groaned and flipped off her hood. She then looked over to an excited Melinda and rolled down her window. Droplets of rain cascaded into the inside of her van. "I was enjoying the serenity inside my car."

"Serenity time is over," Melinda snapped as Margo grabbed her backpack from the other side. "So how was your road trip?"

"Warm," Margo replied, cutting the ignition. She opened her car door and jumped down from it. "What did you do? You barely called me while I was gone. What – did they made you come back for a few extra cheerleading practices during the summer?"

Melinda rolled her eyes. "I was busy," she said, biting her lip. "Well, I was actually at the Rez most of the time."

Margo's brow immediately furrowed. "Wait, what?"

"I met a boy."

Margo widened her eyes. "WHAT?"

Melinda was grinning from ear to ear. Happiness was practically exploding from her like fireworks. "His name is Embry Call. We hung out most the time you were gone. All his friends are really nice. He's even friends with Jacob."

"I know Embry. I drove him home once." Margo wrinkled her nose. "Huh, I missed a lot."

Melinda almost had a multitude of words tumble from her mouth, but as she turned towards the lot, all of them disappeared. She couldn't believe her eyes. Was she actually seeing this? Her mouth hung open in an 'O' shape as she stared ahead, and soon she was pointing in the direction behind Margo. "Speaking of missing a lot ..."

Margo's perplexed expression softened. "What the hell are you going on about –"

"MARGO!"

The girl in question turned suddenly, her hair whisking away as the wind blew off her hood. Her eyes were then growing wide too. Walking her way, in a completely different body, was Jacob Black. He was now incredibly built, and he might've grown a couple inches in height. Melinda's mouth still hung open in shock as Jacob approached them, but Margo, too, still had her wide eyes open.

Jacob grinned wide as he neared Margo. Her first words to him were, "Do we even know each other?"

"Different, huh?" He laughed, causing Melinda to let out a girlish giggle. Margo elbowed her in the gut.

"Are you taking steroids or something? These don't look real." Margo asked, poking Jacob's now muscled arm. They were, indeed, real. Her eyes met his again. "What happened to you?"

Jacob shook his head. "I don't know. I just woke up one day and ..." He shrugged, and both girls laughed, though he thought they didn't realize that he actually wasn't joking. He didn't know how he was suddenly getting these growth spurts, but he wasn't complaining.

"What are you doing here at our high school?" Melinda asked, hugging her books closer to her chest.

"Yeah, I thought you would be in school at the Rez by now," Margo added.

Jacob nodded. "I do, yeah. I just needed to drop off a present for Bella before I went."

"That's so nice of you," Melinda cooed, meeting Margo's eyes. Something bright flashed within them. "Remember Margo's birthday now. It's December nineteenth."

Margo shook her head. "Uh – no, you don't have to –"

"I'll be sure to remember," he smiled. "I'm a great gift giver."

The three suddenly fell silent, until Melinda finally cleared her throat. "Well," she said, "I'll meet you in class, Mar." She sent her friend a wink before dashing off to the school.

Margo scoffed at her friend, but when she turned back to Jacob, he was still beaming down at her. "But, seriously though, are you taking steroids?"

Jacob's laugh erupted loudly from his chest, almost deafening ears. "No, no. I swear I'm not."

"This is just ... weird," Margo replied, poking the muscle again. His skin war slightly warm to the touch. "I leave for two months and you're suddenly a different person."

"Same person, different body," he added, sticking his large hands in his baggy pants. Jacob was suddenly looking at his feet, afraid of what to say. "After this, I'm just heading to school and then picking up parts for the Rabbit later. I need to rebuild the engine. You should – um – take a ride when it's done."

Margo scratched the side of her forehead. "Yeah, I'm practically at your house three times a week anyways. I'll probably be there when you finish it."

"Awesome, awesome," he nodded quickly. "Can I call you tonight? I believe we must discuss the theme for next movie night. My dad – apparently – wants to join."

"Of course, he can!" Margo chuckled. "Yeah, just give my cell a ring tonight." She flexed the straps of her backpack, realizing the textbooks inside were weighing it down. "I guess I'll talk to you later, Jake."

Jacob lifted a hand, waving to her as she began to walk away. "See you later, Mar," he said. He then proceeded to stride back to his dad's truck. He felt his hand hit his forehead suddenly, and he started to overthink every word he said to her. "Really? Awesome, awesome?" Jacob whispered. "Smart move, dude."
