Chapter 4
As I started to round the corner of the walkway I heard mom say that she was coming. That only made me hurry more to get inside. I came around the corner and finally saw the huge tree that I had seen from the road.
It towered far above every thing in sight with a thick canopy of thin smooth leaves. Large green bumpy fruits hung from the branches and made them bend and same on the verge of breaking. The trunk was huge and gnarled thick with rough lichen covered bark. The largeness of the tree was reflected in the fact that it would have taken at least three of me for my finger tips to touch together.
Suddenly I heard a heavy thunk in the ground beside me. I looked over to see one of the fruits from the tree coming to rest in a crack in the walkway. As soon as I heard that I had to swing around again after hearing the creak of a door. Then I saw her, Cousin Natalie.
She looked just as I remembered her. Grey short hair that matched soft blue eyes. Age lines from years of smiling surrounded her eyes as she ran over and embraced me in a warm hug.
"I've missed you so much," she whispered in my ear as we hugged. I only squeezed hard when she said so.
