"I can buy you time so that news can come to him. Until then just hang in here. I'll bring you food everyday, and I'll ask if I can give you another cell. It may be a lot to ask, but I'm going to try to get you a cell above ground. I believe you're innocent. I may be naive sometimes, but I can tell when someone is lying or telling the truth. I can't promise you anything but I'll try my best." I smiled at the kindness this male wolf was giving me. From all of the stories I was told in my younger years, I wouldn't have imagined someone so innocent would be in the Vengeance Pack. Deep down I was glad that he was, or I'd probably be dead by now.

"Thanks Tyler."

"Of course, Melynie. It's the least I can do for a friend." He smiled and shut my cell door with hesitance.

"I'll be back with food and water soon. Just hang in there." I nodded and hung my head as he stepped away from my cell.

I could hear his footsteps echo out of the dungeon and the door close behind him, leaving me alone in this hellhole. I sighed and began to think about mom. Where was she? Were they okay?

I felt my body become weak again. I didn't even notice the white marks on my knuckles from how hard I was gripping my necklace. It was the only thing I had to prove my innocence. The letter from my father was my only proof of innocence, but would Jackson believe it? I felt my head get heavy as my thoughts wondered about. Maybe tomorrow would be a better day.

When I woke up again I noticed that my legs were unchained, and a bowl of water and a plate of meat sat beside me. The meat was clearly a steak and just looking at it made my mouth water. I picked up the plate and began eating with the plastic utensils I had been given.

After the meal I felt full and content, but I began to feel tired again. I knew that I needed to stay awake though. I twirled the plastic knife I had been given around my fingers as I thought about the events of my untimely capture. Jackson wasn't the only one that wanted to know how I ended up here.

I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard footsteps coming from the stairs. I couldn't tell who it was yet, but it didn't sound like Jackson. The door opened and I could tell it was Tyler, because of his walk pattern. He walked down the hallway to my cell and stopped while unlocking the door. He smiled at me with pure joy.

"Well, I have good news! You get to have a room in the Alpha's courters. Also, you have been given free reign of the pack lands as long as I go with you!"

I smiled at Tyler. I knew he could get me out. I was sure it was because Jackson loved him, and he probably didn't want to anger him. He opened the door and walked in. He took a key and unlocked the chains on my arms. I tried to stand up immediately, but I stumbled.

"Careful, you haven't walked in a few days now. I don't want you to fall." He grabbed me lightly by the waist to help me stand up. I held onto his shoulder while dizziness swept over me. He began to slowly walk out with me holding on to him for support. Once we were up the stairs Tyler waited before opening the door.

"It's sunset out. I wanted to wait until now so it wouldn't hurt your eyes so bad."

I appreciated his kindness, but once he opened the door I was like a deer in headlights. It was still darker than usual, but my eyes hated me.

"Jesus Christ, that's bright as hell." Tyler stifled a giggle.

"I don't think hell is supposed to be bright, Melynie." I mustered a glare as he helped me out into the setting sun.

We neared a building in what I was guessing was the Alpha's Courters. It was a two story colonial looking home. I didn't really have time to survey my surroundings because of my weak body.

Tyler helped me into the door and down a hallway to the right. When we reached a door that had the number "24" on it, he stopped. He opened the door and helped me inside. I didn't really have time to look around as Tyler sat me down on the bed and handed me a blanket. All I could tell from the dark room was the outline of a dresser beside the bed and a door on the other side of the room.

"You need to rest right now. In the morning I'll get you some new clothes so that you can take a shower." He kissed my forehead in a friendly manner. He was just like a parent to a lost child.

"Goodnight Melynie. Sleep well! I'll see you in the morning." He left through the open door and closed it quietly behind him. I laid down on top of the blanket he gave me so I wouldn't get the bed dirty. I closed my eyes completely and let my body sleep.

Hope you enjoy! Tell me what you think in the comments!
