"I may not know where I am, but if I die here I die in honor. It's an Alpha's responsibility to keep their family safe. That's exactly what the hell I'm going to do. If you have a problem with that, you're going to have to kill me. Go ahead and fucking do it, you son of a bitch." I looked up at him for the first time; my grey eyes shining with anger at him. He looked surprised for the smallest moment, and then determination filled its place.
"Well then. I hope you know that we'll find out who you are anyway. Once we do, we'll figure out what to do with you after that. Won't we, Tyler?" He spoke with confidence and some hatred.
"As long as you don't kill her then, yes, Alpha." I saw a glimpse of a smile on the Alpha's lips.
"Just know that you're lucky that you have Ty on your side or you'd already be dead." He smiled in a sadistic manner and stared walking off.
"Wait." I called out to him, and he turned to look at me. It was now or never.
"What's your name?" He smiled ever so slightly.
"Jackson Vengeance."
He turned around and walked off before seeing the look on my face. Vengeance. This is the Vengeance Pack? I thought they were a myth. They're supposed to be the strongest pack alive, so why hasn't he killed me? A million thoughts filled my head. How could I possibly get away from the strongest Alpha that's ever existed?
"Melynie?" I snapped out of my thoughts and looked at Tyler who had stayed behind. He smiled at me sadly.
"Yes, Tyler?"
"I can make sure that he won't kill you, but other than that I can't help you. If he finds out that you're here for a reason that he doesn't like he'll torture you, and I can't stop that." I nodded at his words. The truth may hurt, but it was the truth.
"I know." I said quietly. Tyler stayed in his place as he looked me in the eyes. I ducked my head slowly.
"Tyler?" I ask.
"Yes, Melynie?"
"If I told you the reason that I'm here, would you tell him even if I didn't want him to know?" I looked back up to see a look of surprise at my sudden question, but he shook his head no.
"Of course I wouldn't tell him, Melynie. He may be my Alpha, but I have a circumstance that makes it hard for him to stay mad at me, so of course I wouldn't tell him. Everyone had their reasons, and if you're not ready for him to know then I support that." I felt some sort of relief from his words.
"Well, it may take me a few minutes to gather my thoughts so get comfortable." He nodded as an okay and leaned up against my cell door that was still open.
"Hang on. Let me contact Jackson and tell him I'm doing something." I nodded as his eyes glazed over. This proved that he was talking to Jackson. After he flinched once or twice he came back to being normal.
"He wasn't exactly happy with me, but he'll get over it. It's only because I wouldn't tell him what I was doing." I scrunched up my face so that I wouldn't laugh. He motioned for me to start my story.
"It all started a day before you found me. My father was Alpha Bloodlust. He had a call for a Rouge on our territory a day before my family and I left. He left to check it out early in the morning. When he got back about four hours later, I found out that it had been an aggressive Rouge. As you probably know, that's something we haven't seen since the last war. I found this information out from my mother because that night my father didn't come out of his office. I knew he was contacting all the Alpha's around us-"
"Wait, so you were the next Alpha for the Bloodlust pack?" Tyler said in some fear but mostly wonder. I smiled and nodded as he took a moment to process this information.
"Well, that's cool." I knew I had made a friend out of him.
"Yeah. Well, anyway, none of the Alphas had reported a Rouge on their territory. As you can probably guess, that means that the Rouge had to have come from our own territory. The next morning, the morning you found me, I was going to train with the juvenile wolves. I woke up and walked into the kitchen where my father told me to run. He told me to gather up everyone I loved and leave. He told me that wasn't going to make it, but he knew he could gain us some time. So my mom, brother, sister and best friend set out, and I made a safe trail for the pack to follow. It was true that my dad wouldn't make it." I paused for a moment to hold back tears.
"I'm sorry, Melynie. I know that must be hard." Tyler said as he gave me a moment to calm down.
I could feel people dying, because they're connection to the pack link would be suddenly cut off. However, about three fourths of our pack made it. I sensed danger whenever we were about two hours out. Once again as you can guess, it was your land that we came upon. I told the rest of the pack to go on if we weren't back in 30 minutes. When you caught me I told everyone to run, and leave me behind. My mother made me promise that I'll try to leave once they found somewhere safe to stay. I'm guessing I'll never see them again though." I finally looked back up to Tyler. His eyes were watering ever so slightly, and his demeanor had changed.
"I'm sorry, Melynie. If you would've told Jackson that I'm sure he would've understood. However, I don't think he'll let you go. He has some things, secrets if you will, that he can't tell anyone. That background would force him to believe that you were the one that killed your father. You need evidence." Evidence. I needed evidence. I had evidence, but did I want to give it to Jackson? I felt myself cover the necklace and ring I had been wearing. Maybe he wouldn't notice.
"I know, Tyler. I'm stuck here though so I can't find evidence to prove my innocence. Until he hears about my fathers death personally, I can't do anything. Even after that, it may take him a while to find out what's really going on." Tyler nodded as he stoop up away from my cell door.
