I turned the door knob to my bedroom door and pushed it open. My bedroom wasn't anything to swoon over. The walls were crimson, and I had a black furniture set to match. It was an older looking room, but I was accustomed to it. I've stayed in this room since I was young, so I learned to love the style after a few years.
My bed was made of black stained wood and a large canopy was put over my bed. It was a dark red lacy canopy that was mostly see through. My bed was pushed up to the wall on the right side of the room. My closet door was on the far side of my bed and right beside the window. On the left side I had a black stained dresser with a mirror on top of it. My bathroom door was right beside the dresser.
In the nearest corner of the left side of my room I had a small study space. I headed over to my nightstand which was on this side of my bed, nearest to the door. We were the Bloodlust Pack, one of the more violent packs that existed. I didn't exactly like that, since I was just as bad as the rest of us. We were cold blooded killers, but that was just who we have always been. We had to kill. It was in the name the Moon Goddess had given us, and the elder wolves believed that we had to live up to it or risk being punished by her.
I picked up my phone from its place on my nightstand. I had been charging it while I put Dylan to bed. I looked at the battery percentage to see a, "ninety-seven," looking back at me. It had to be so close to one hundred percent; that was my luck. I looked below the time and saw that Valene, my best friend, had texted me. I opened it to reply.
Tyler said that he loved me today, but he's not my mate. I don't know what to do. We've dated for 6 years now, how can he not be my mate? I need to meet up with you. Tomorrow, dinner? On me?
I smiled at her text and looked at what time she had sent it. It read 9:47 pm above her text.
Yeah sure. It'll have to be a little late. I have training with the juveniles tomorrow, so I'll have to take a shower before we go :)
Sent. I knew I had to sleep, so I didn't bother to wait for an answer. I knew she hated waiting, but I was pretty sure she would be asleep as well. I plugged my phone back in and put it back on the nightstand. I pulled back my sheets on my bed and climbed in.
I covered up into a human burrito to get warm. I hadn't even bothered to change clothes, so I was still in tights and a shirt. That wasn't my usual bedtime attire, but I was too tired and comfortable to care. I slowly drifted off to sleep thinking about what hell I would go through tomorrow with the young wolves.
"Melynie! Wake up!" My body shot up at the sound of my fathers voice. Believe me, he was loud.
"I'm up dad!" I grumble back making sure he won't yell again. I uncovered myself and stretched out of bed. I picked up my phone to look at the time, and 7:56 met my eyes. Well it was close enough to eight, though I could've woke myself up, or Skylar would have. She has a better since of time than I do considering she's a wolf.
I stumbled into my closet and grabbed an old pair of yoga paints and a sports bra. I changed clothes and looked for a thin tank top to wear. When I couldn't find one in my closet I made my way to my dresser. I grabbed a tank top that I had sat on the top and headed into the bathroom. I put my long, silver hair up in a messy bun. I looked in the mirror seeing my dark silver eyes and the Pack symbol shaved into my brow. A shaved line at the end of my brow and near the beginning. I walked put of the bathroom and grabbed my running shoes. I slid them on and grabbed my car keys, my phone and my wallet before heading out of my room and down the stairs to meet with dad.
I walked into the kitchen as he was leaned back against the counter eating a doughnut. He looked at me as I walked in the door. He smiled happily at me and I smiled back. Dad was always very kind to his family but it was a different story when he was out of the house. He usually let Darkrein take over to bark out orders. No matter how much I loved my father, even I was afraid of Darkrein, his wolf.
"Mel, can you do me a favor before you go to training? You're highly capable of anything that I can do. You can do more, actually." He stood up straight from his place on the counter. I nodded my head in agreement.
"I want you to take Skylar and run around the entire territory. If you smell or sense any kind of danger, stay away. Take these markers and make a path that is safe for the wolves to take. Can you do that for me?" I nodded even though I was slightly weirded out by his request, and I grabbed the orangish-yellow ties that were in dad's hand. When I looked back up I saw a flash of sadness flow through his eyes. It was gone as soon as it came however. I started to turn around to leave when he spoke out again.
"Also, can you take your brother and sister with you? Oh, and your mother too? She can meet you somewhere." I turned back around to face him before he finished. I was confused at his actions, because he's never acted this way.
"You know what? Just skip your training for today! Okay? You can take Valene with you as well, and Tyler if you want to." I knew my face was becoming more and more confused by the minute.
"I'm sorry, just take anyone you want. You may need some help." He smiled , but I could see he was lying about something.
"Your lying. Something's wrong, Alpha." He looked down to the floor; he knew he was caught.
"Darling please, I'm sorry for what I'm about to tell you. Just, please, listen to me." I nodded.
"I need you to leave and take everyone we love. I'll send the pack immediately after you. I want you to put markers on the path you take out of here, the safest route that Skylar picks. This is just in case the rest of the pack doesn't have good enough senses. Make sure everyone can get out in time. "
