Chapter | 18

Word Count: 886

I was trying to comprehend everything as gears clicked in place from what Melynie had told me earlier. She looked at me, and I could tell the same thought was flashing through her eyes. The aggressive Rouges that had been in her territory, those who had killed her father... it had to be Xavier. He didn't have a pack when he left, so he had to consider himself Rouge. The way no other Alpha saw them coming, it's because they were already there. They've come together to kill everyone Tyler Bloodlust ever loved.

"Mel, do you think the people who invaded your land was Xavier's people?" I ask, and she nodded. I looked to the ground. It felt weird that she replied to her nickname, especially when it was me saying it. Nox. I had remembered hearing about Nox, and how strong he was which showed the reason why the Bloodlust pack would pick him as Beta. Keel was angry because he was thinking about anyone trying to hurt Melynie's or her family. I knew I had majorly fucked up when it came to my mate, but maybe I could fix it. The mate pull was almost too much to bear.

"Well, Morning, you never told us exactly what happened." I said, and Morning's eyes darted over to mine.

"Oh, right. Xavier sent a letter to me. I found it in my mail. It said that he had some things to work out with your mate. Exact words," Morning grabbed her phone and went to a photo and she began again, "Jackson's little mate is one sassy bitch. She's a little whore that thinks she can parade from one pack to the next. She may have loved Bloodlust, but I hated it. I was so glad to see it burn to the ground. Yet, that was when I learned our little Melynie had escaped along with some of her family. The rest of her family is safe, as long as she comes with me." Morning stopped, looking from me to Melynie.

If possible, Keel was even angrier now at his words. He hated it there. Yet the small time I've seen Melynie and talked to her, I know she's not in it for money or power. Love follows her everywhere. I knew that deep down she was extremely dangerous, but she hasn't showed that side. I know she has complete control of her wolf. I can tell by the way she speaks of her family that she'd do anything for them. I started to trust Melynie's story as Keel got angrier as Xavier's words kept sinking in. At least what she told me was true, and now she has some evidence.

"Well, we'll see what happens. Yet, Melynie, in all seriousness I'm sending guards tomorrow to go get your family. They need to be here since I'm not giving anyone over to Xavier. They'll get attacked if they're somewhere else and taken. How many are there?" Melynie looked skeptical at first, and I was to obviously blame but she spoke anyway.

"Four. My mom, younger brother, younger sister, and best friend. They were the only ones that had traveled with me." I nodded and contacted my guards to let them go ahead and get them as fast as they could.

"Alright, Morning, you can stay here if you like. I'm sure you need to. Stay with Melynie for a while until I can get you another room. Make a list of things you need, I can send people to get them. Women if preferred." Morning nodded before smiling at Melynie.

"Tyler, I need you to tell our guards that if they see Xavier to not let him in, but contact me and bring him right to me." Tyler nodded and stood up before leaving.

"Melynie and Morning, you can stay if you like or you can go to your room." Melynie looked to Morning.

"It's up to you. I saw you were doing some paperwork for the big bad wolf." Keel growled playfully at Morning and she just smirked at me while I smiled back.

"I don't know, can I take the stuff with me?" Melynie looked to me for my answer.

"Of course, just remember I have to have it by Friday." She nodded and went to my desk grabbing the things she needed before saying and quick goodbye and her and Morning left the room. They closed the door quietly behind them. I walked back to my desk and looked in my drawers for phone numbers from Alphas that could help. I didn't know how big Xavier could have his army by now, and in all honesty I didn't want to know.

<•A Few Hours Later•> <•Still Jackson's POV•>

I had made many phone calls, and got about three packs on my side. Many had heard of Xavier because of him being a part of their pack at one time when he was younger. He had supposedly always said his parents were killed so he moved from one pack to another, hoping someone would adopt him. Yet after many offered and he didn't let them take him, the packs would force him Rouge.

So I knew this was all a game, and all I had to say was...

Let's play, Xavier.
