He kept on smirking when his mother snapped her fingers right in front of his face, bringing him back to reality which made him scowl at her and his stupid friend laughing at him

"Don't you dare give me that look young man. I just got back from Miami and you can't even give your mother the attention she deserves"

"Sorry Mom, I was just thinking about some business I need to handle"

Hmph! "Maybe I should just have stayed back in Miami since your new partner and family is your business. Is this how he was when I was gone Daniel?"

Daniel chuckled, having a mischievous glint in his eyes hinting me on what his reply was going to be. Bastard "Mom yes. I always tried to get him to have fun. But he never listens" he replied with a fake gloomy expression

"I'm sorry for intruding then. Uhm Toyo, take me back to the airport, I......"

"Mom what are you saying now? Why would you be less important than my business. You're just being dramatic again"

"Oh!! I just came back and what you're welcoming me with is this? Have I not failed like this" she replied while feigning tears"

Nelson pinched his eyes in frustration and sighs  "God! I'm sorry ma'a, I just got a little pre-occupied with something. Fine, I'm all yours when we get home. Happy?" she beams at him and focused on chatting with Daniel

He knows who he saw cause he can recognize her from any distance. Those eyes that has haunted him for so long, that innocent but deceitful face. He needs to find out why she came back, he shoots Daniel a look and he got it.

Daniel follows him to his office immediately they got home "What's up man? What happened this time?"

Nelson sighs out of frustration "I know what I saw man" Daniel gives a look of confusion "Uhh... what are you talking about bro?"

"I saw Ruby at the freaking airport today"

Daniel chuckles "Look bro I know you still miss her and all but are you sure you weren't just hallucinating or were you tipsy?"

Nelson gives him a hard glare and grits his teeth "I'm not fucking playing Dan, I saw her. I know what I fucking saw!" He yelled

"Whoa whoa! Okay okay, I get it. You don't have to get all riled up but how sure are you that she was the one? It might just be a look alike you know" Dan says resting his hands on his hip

"You don't get it, those eyes, they were hers and that deceitful look on her pretty face definitely screamed Ruby. She knew it was me cause she scurried off with her friend or whoever she was with" Nelson replies while leaning on the wall with one hand in his pocket and the other rubbing his beard

"What if she got scared or nervous because she caught you digging holes through her face. You know you can be intimidating most times" Daniel smirks

"I wouldn't have believed you are one of the best lawyers in this country if not because you're my buddy cause man you're pretty slow and fucking dumb"

Daniel chuckles "Okay let's say it's true, what do you plan on doing? Look for her and tell her she's going to pay for everything she did to you?"

"Exactly and she'll definitely pay" Nelson smirks devilishly

Daniel scoffs "Man, seriously? How will you even find her and you know that's not how shit works here. I advice you move on bro, there's more to life than this"

"Easy for you to say, I've achieved all of these just to prove to her that she messed with the wrong guy and God is finally giving me a chance to do so. Moreover, why do I have you?"He quirks a brow at Dan

"Cut it out man and by the way what will you even have me do to help you out?" Dan scrunches his eyebrows

Nelson smirks "Now you speaking man. First of all, find her and her reason for returning, then we kick it off from there"

Dan rubs his forehead out of frustration and nods. Just then his mom barges in "I can't believe I trusted you, you told me you'll be all mine when we got home and you are here talking business? Is this how you treat your mom after all I've been through for you?"

"Mooom!" He groans out "I promised, didn't I? I just needed to talk some things out with Dan and I'll be heading to your room. You always think the worst of me even after telling the cook to prepare your favourite"

His mom's eyes lightens up "awww I knew you love me too much. I was just messing with you" she moves forward to hug him tightly

She draws back and looks into his eyes, she saw the swirl of emotions in his eyes and knew something wasn't right "are you alright child? Talk to me"

Nelson forces a smile "Sure mom, why won't I be?" Daniel clears his throat and excuses himself

She sighs "I know that look alright, what's wrong?"

Nelson sighs "I'm serious ma'a, I'm great, so happy to have you back" he'll die for his mom cause she's the only precious thing left in this world after his dad died from stroke.

She sighs deeply and rests on his office desk "you know Ruby and I still keep in touch once in a while, a sweet girl that girl" and that makes him to freeze

"What? Mom how could you do this? You know that so called sweet girl almost ruined our lives, how could you betray me this way?" He says while fuming with anger

His mom closes her eyes and inhales deeply "I know and I'm sorry, but she didn't ruin us. You were the cause of your mishap not her, she brought out the best in you and loved you with all she had"

Nelson scoffs "Oh yeah? So why didn't she stay uh? She bailed on me immediately she heard trouble and left me to rot in that stinking hell hole and you call that love. I can't believe you!" He said while walking away

"She told me she would be coming back, I think she's already here" that stopped him from stepping out and faced his mom

"I already know that" and he left.

She sighs deeply and places her hand on her chest "Oh Lord I hope he knows what he's doing, bring my child out of this abyss".
