Ruby dropped down heavily on her office chair due to exhaustion from all the emergency cases and check-ups. Joshua's radiotherapy was also a success and he can finally live a normal life.

She smiled at that thought. God was indeed with that boy and she felt proud of herself that he helped her save him.

Remembering the look of astonishment and joy on his parents faces made her smile expand.

A knock on the door interrupted her short flashback. Ruby sat up right to see Hobbs head popped in with a sheepish grin on his cute face.

Ruby returned his smile with a bubbly one of hers and gestured him to enter with her hands.

"You seem so relaxed and happy, why? Although don't get me wrong, it feels refreshing to see you this way" Hobbs said and sat at the edge of her table

She chuckled "No it's fine. I'm just happy Joshua's okay and trust me I'm not so relaxed. I would kill for a refreshing bath, a massage and a deep slumber"

"Oh yeah? Perhaps you have room for extra?

Ruby frowned a bit and saw him wiggling his brows. Then she figured he was joking and she let out a chuckle and rolled her eyes.

"Yeah yeah, in your dreams. I do, but you know who that room will be for" she replied, making Hobbs smile and nod his head

"So everything alright?" She questioned

"Yeah yeah, everything fine. Just that.... you'll be missed here Ruby. I especially will miss you" He said with a gloomy face

His statement thawed her heart and it brought tears to her eyes. She stood up and circled her table to hug him.

Hobbs hugged her tightly like he never wanted her to leave. After what felt like forever, they broke the hug with a sad smile on Ruby's face.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I'll really miss you too. I know we had our differences and I don't know why I didn't give you a chance cause you're such an admirable and awesome guy"

Her statement gave Hobbs a shred of hope

"But my heart, I don't think I'm ready to give it up yet Hobbs and I'm really sorry. But know this now, you're one of the best people I've known so far and you'll always have a special place in my heart"

Her statement uplifted his spirit to an extent. Atleast if she didn't reciprocate his love, she reciprocated his affection and friendship and that will do.

They gave a final hug and a cough broke them apart. They turned to see Tay looking at them with a mischievous grin.

"Oh pardon my intrusion. Please go on, I'll come back later" they kept staring at her with a blank expression and she noticed the tear stain on her friend's face

"Uhhh.... why are ya'll staring at me like that? And why are you making my friend cry?"

They both burst out laughing, making Tay roll her eyes "I hate you both. That wasn't funny"

"Serves you right and Hobbs was just saying goodbye" Ruby smiled

Tay pouted and rushed over to hug him"Awww I'll miss you too poor baby"

Hobbs chuckled "Alright Alright.. was nice working with you ladies and I hope I see you soon and I think I'm gonna head back to my office. Bye" and he left with a salute

"Hobbs is so cute and I'm happy I finally got to know him better. I could have gone for him if he wasn't so stuck up on you. Why didn't you give him a chance?"

"I asked myself the same thing just a few minutes back, but then fuck it. I am not interested and don't ask me this again. Now let's pack up and go home, we've got some packing to do"

"Okay okay Mademoiselle. Wait!!" Stopping Ruby from doing what she was doing

"What?" She asked with a raised brow

"I was thinking we use these few days of no work to treat ourselves, you know before we head for Nigeria. Go clubbing, spa day, great shopping for us and family. You know, just once in a lifetime splurge"

Yeah that's thoughtful. Even though we had a good paying job, we had less time for fun, we spent most of our income on savings, tax, family and other expenses. So a few days of splurging and girl time wouldn't hurt

"You're right. We should, but we won't be able to plan it if we don't move now will we?"

"Yeah, but I'm chilling for ya. I already packed, so hurry and let's go" she replied and left without helping her out

Ruby sighed and was too weary to speak.... what am I gonna do with her
