Happy birthday NATASHAJESS akka, This update is for you.
I am really happy when I read your (readers of Her Dreams) comments that 'you like Her Dreams' even though Varun doesn't like it.
I had to say that a romantic book is bad. I can't say someone else's book is bad (even for fun) as I know the efforts put into it (you can say mine is bad ;) I won't mind.
So why not say mine is bad? :)

Varun was descending down the steps when his eyes landed on his coffee shop through the windows. His dad owned a coffee shop which was adjacent to his house. The shop was still closed even though he slept late today.
He used to wake up at 06:00 A.M but it was 07:00 A.M. The shop used to be open at 07:30 A.M. His mom was busy in the kitchen and his dad was in the living room. Ganesh had a habit of reading newspaper early in the morning. He was reading 'Morning star' a daily newspaper when Varun sat on the sofa opposite to Ganesh. Ganesh started the conversation by saying, "How was the last case given to your love police department, son?"
Varun was reading the cinema news page in 'Morning star'. He used to read only cinema and sports news in it. Varun replied to his dad, "It was an easy case Dad. The girl was thinking that the boy was interested in another girl so it needed a kiss from him. After that kiss from him to her we couldn't separate them."
Priyadharsini came from kitchen and said, "So you helped another couple." Varun knew where she was going and he was ready to hear it. Priyadharsini sat beside Ganesh and said, "Are you still searching for a girl? You haven't found her and you are going to start high school next week."
Varun dropped his newspaper on the table and said, "I still have a lot of time, mom. Don't force me. If I find one then I will not waste a moment. Life partner is not someone whom I can change mom, so let me take my time. This is not something easy, I am searching for a girl who is going to stay with me in my biggest defeats and disappointments. She is going to be the one to console me in my defeats mom."
Varun was getting irritated by this topic. He didn't understand how excited his parents were to see him with a girl who was going to be his life. Ganesh sensed his irritation and said, "Priya, leave him. Let him enjoy it when it comes to him." Priyadharshini decided to observe temporary silence sensing the lost battle.
Varun stood up and went to the kitchen. He took a glass of milk from the fridge and came back to sit on the sofa. He took a sip of milk and said, "Love is not some treasure, to go on an adventure to find it. Love is something buried inside your heart. You can't find it. Someone has to find it and show it to you." He said that and started to read. He hid his face inside the newspaper. Ganesh and Priyadharsini knew that he was angry.
Priyadharsini said, "OKAY OKAY. I won't ask about it. When do you start high school?"
Varun answered, still glancing at the newspaper, "High school starts in two weeks from now. I am going to study Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Economics and humanities. These are the main subjects and minor subjects are Sociology, politics and value education."
Priyadharsini, Ganesh and Varun stood from sofa. They went to the dining table and sat. Priyadharsini was serving them while saying, "Do you know that a family has moved into our city?" As the city was small, there won't be any stranger. Residents knew each other well. As this was a small city, people only move out. No one moves in so it was an unusual incident which caught the attention of the son and the father.
Varun was the first to break the silence, "Why don't many people like to move into small cities?" This question was a shock to Ganesh and Priyadharshini.
Ganesh placed the spoon near his plate and interlocked his fingers. He said, "Large cities offer more number of ways to survive. They also have large entertainment value. Lifestyle, money and glamour of the large cities attract many people." Priyadharsini was trying to say something but she knew that the topic is targeted somewhere else.
Varun kept his spoon near his plate too and said, "But large cities have polluted air, heavy traffic and high chance of accidents. Small cities have more love, affection, pure air and calm atmosphere. Big cities look like a war zone on peak hours." Ganesh smiled at his son.
Priyadharshini tried to say something but Ganesh cut her off by saying, "Some people are ready to undergo these tortures till an age and earn enough money to live their remaining life in small cities, peacefully. After all big cities offers easy money."
Ganesh sensed that Priyadharsini was trying to say something but Varun didn't, so he said, "But bad government policies are the reason for the stagnation of money on few cities. Even now our government is forming stupid laws and regulations. Do you agree with them, Dad?"
Ganesh was about to answer when Priyadharsini said, "This is called dinning table, which is meant to eat. Can you both continue eating? No politics or debate on dining table."
Priyadharsini continued to serve them. She inquired about the food to Varun who replied, "Mom, When did I ever comment on the taste? I don't know. Say that this is food and give it to me, I will eat it."
Ganesh's laugh was interrupted by Priyadharsini's glare which was pointed at Ganesh. Priyadharsini said to Ganesh with gritted teeth, "I am doubting if his taste buds are working or not. We need to check up with the doctor."
Priyadharsini started to recite the list of vegetables Varun had to buy for which he replied, "Mom, I can't even identify these. The vendor asks me to pick them up. Even if I pick them up, you complain that these are bad ones. Then why are you asking me to buy them?"
It was Priyadharsini's turn to keep her spoon near her plate and say, "Who said that we should do things which are natural to us? Do you know that there is a term called learning? So learn to buy!"
Varun and Ganesh chuckled. They continued to eat. Priyadharsini said after continuing to eat, "The new residents are from India. They are from a southern state called Tamil Nadu."
Ganesh was the first to talk, "I think they have a daughter. Am I correct?" Ganesh understood the answer from Priyadharsini's face. He continued, "Did you interrogate enough?"
Varun face palmed as he knew to what extent his mother goes. She took an unofficial poll on what the suitable girls of the city think about Varun.
Priyadharsini continued but tried to avoid looking at their face, "They are Tamilians, I heard that they are so passionate about love. Even their movies are so passionate about love."
Varun again kept his spoon near his plate which irritated Priyadharsini. He said, "Don't judge a society by it's movies. Do you know a term called 'Honour Killing'?"
Priyadharsini shook her head and Varun replied, "It's a term which is quite common among South Indians which includes Tamil Nadu. A murder of a child by the relatives or sometimes parents when they're a threat to the family's honour which is mostly a child marrying someone whom their parents dislike or don't approve is termed as 'Honour Killing'. Be careful mom, her parents might belong to this category. Don't play with the life of that girl."
Before the shock settled in the room, the door opened to reveal two youngsters in their late teen, panting. One of them said, "Varun, Andrew and Lily are having a verbal fight. They might even break up. It's happening now. We need you immediately!"
Priyadharsini was not happy when Varun stood up without eating. She even tried to stop him but he wouldn't. Varun ignored her protesting voice asking him to wear a good looking shirt and finish his food. He opened the doors and ran to the road where the two others were waiting for them.
Varun asked, "Why didn't you tell this to me before? Pray that it's not too late."
The guy in early twenties said, "We need to go, there is no time to talk. Even minutes could affect the lives of two people or even more."
Varun sat behind on a bike which took off immediately like a rocket. Varun tried shouting asking them about what happened, they were now zooming past the cars and managed to find the little gaps in the traffic. Small size of the city did help them.
Andrew had been dating Lily for a month now. Lily had a sister called Mary who was like a little sister to Andrew. One day Mary who was playing hide and seek with Andrew near the road, got hit by a truck and died. Lily didn't let Andrew explain himself and he didn't try explaining as he too was devastated. Lily started to blame Andrew for what happened.
Today Andrew had lost his cool and they were last spotted on a ground near Zoko's mansion which has been under construction. Team from love Police department is on their way to solve this.
When they reached the ground, Lily and Andrew were shouting at each other. The Love policeman parked their bikes in between them which stopped their shouting. Varun asked while getting off his bike, "What's happening here?"
Lily was the first to speak or rather shout, "I am shouting at the person who is responsible for my sister's death." Varun was seeing something other than anger and fear inside Andrew's eyes.
Varun shook his head and said calmly, "Let's hear him, He has the right to say what happened." Lily crossed her arms and looked away from Andrew. Hurt flashed in his eyes when he saw the gesture.
Lily said, "I don't want to talk with him at all. I can't even see his eyes without remembering the lifeless body of my sister." Varun understood the look in Andrew's eyes now. It was the same look as that in Lily's eyes.
Varun came and stood near her. He caught her shoulders with his hands and said, "Look at his eyes for a minute." Lily after a moment saw his eyes and she saw it. Andrew's eyes were welled up with tears and his face was soaked in them. His eyes held something which Varun couldn't see but Lily's eyes showed Varun that she knew it. Varun said, "I can't find what his eyes has but I know that you can find it. Now let him speak."
Andrew was waiting for Lily to turn her eyes away from him. He continued to talk when he realized that she is taking a step to fight for their relationship, "She wanted to play hide and seek. I should have stopped her as it was a road side but she started to cry. I couldn't see her cry. I wanted her not to shed a tear and accepted to play."
Lily knew how her sister was and it seemed like something she would do. Andrew couldn't control it anymore he knelt down and started to cry. He said while crying, "I didn't want her to shed a tear but my action made her shed a lot of blood. I too can't even see myself in the mirror."
Lily couldn't see him now as she has never seen him cry. She remembered the bond he had with her and felt stupid for not realizing it. Lily wanted to kneel beside him but something stopped her.
Andrew hid his face in his hands and cried. His sobs were heard by all five of them and Lily was the one who was broken more by it. Andrew said, "I couldn't look at myself. Deep down I wanted to kill myself. My life is a mess, Mary died. You hated me and made me cry but still I want your shoulder to cry on. Why is that? Why even now do I want to hug you.?"
Lily couldn't control herself anymore. She went and hugged him. The impact made them crash on floor but she didn't stop. She was hugging him tight and kissing him.
Varun and his colleagues moved on from the place as they knew that this case had been solved.
Varun sat on bike and said, "Can we have a coffee?" His colleagues sat on their bikes and thought for a moment. Then suddenly Varun said, "What's the time?" He had forgotten to wear his watch as he was in a hurry.
When Varun saw the time, he said, "It's time for Zake to propose. Let's go there, he will be expecting us." The bikes took off immediately with high speed to solve the next case.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
What do you think about this chapter?
I have been on cloud nine seeing your votes and encouragement for me on this book, Did I live upto your expectations ?
What's your view on Varun?
You could see that Varun fights for certain things now as he is mature.
Initial chapters are always hard as I am establishing Characters and plot. If you think I am doing bad, Stay with me. I assure that it will get better.
What's the difference between Wattpad app and beta? I need it answered as an online sis of mine had asked me.
Is there anyone reading this book who doesn't like cheesy things?
Can I write bigger chapters than this?
Next update is on January 29th as one of my closest sis celebrates her birthday on that day.
Take care be safe and stay blessed.
