[Author's POV]
(y/n) comes from a blood-line of mysterious creatures, well more like human creatures. You see he/she and his/her parents are the last Neko's alive. So of course (y/n)'s parents would be worried about him/her, that's why they created (more like planted) someone to keep (y/n) safe. These two grew up together and were inseparable, but when (y/n) decided it was time to live on his/her own, his/her parents said they would only let (y/n) go if he/she took his/her protector. But who knew that (y/n)'s protector was in love with him/her.....

[(y/n) POV]
"Aaaaaaand! Done!" I said finishing unpacking. I eyed the small shack I now lived in, it was located at the edge of Inkwell Isle.

I walked outside and breathed in the lukewarm air, while enjoying the feeling of the sun dance on my skin. "You look beautiful today my (n/a) " I heard I male voice say a few feet away.
"Today? So I don't like beautiful everyday?" I chuckled turning around and going to hug my best friend Cagney.
"W-WHAT? No! O-of course you look gorgeous everyday! I-I just meant!-" he said a stuttering and blushing mess, as he returned my hug and pet my (n/a) ears.
"Haha! Don't worry Cagney I understand. I just like to tease you!" I giggled. He rolled his eyes with a smirk and picked me up with one of his vines.
"Heh fine whatev-" *PACHOW!* He was interrupted by a gun going off, and just missing me. The force knocked me off of his leaf-hand, causing me to fall, but thankfully I landed on all fours.

We both looked over and saw two boys with cups for heads. It was the blue one that had shot the gun- Wait no- LASER! FROM HIS HAND!

"Cagney Carnation! And (y/n) (l/n)! We are here to collect your soul contracts! For the Devil!" The red one yelled up at us.

I looked at Cagney with confusion but then it hit me. That one day when we were a younger... we snuck out to the casino... we lost our souls... we ran away and hid... and we never told my parents...

"Cagney... I'm scared" I said running over and hugging him.
"It's fine my (n/a)! I'll protect you!" He petted my head with his vines and hugged me back before yelling at them "We're not giving you our contracts without a fight!"

"*sigh* So be it!" They both said.

Cagney smashed into the ground, and came back up with thorns, vines, and angry expression. "Your not hurting my beautiful (a/n)!!".

"Cagney your not going to fight without me! If we go down! We're going down together!" I said leaping into the air. When I touched the ground dust engulfed me and I transformed into (y/b).
"No!! I'm suppose to protect you!!"
"I don't care! I'm going to help!"
"Your so stubborn!" He said as we got into our battle positions.
"You know you still love me!" I said making us both laugh, but not long after our battle faces returned.

Cagney started to attack with his vines, tiny flower creatures, and nose-flower-gun-thing. While I helped alongside him by using (y/a).

The two boys kept on hitting us with their finger guns, which hurt like hell! This repeated over and over for almost 2 hours, until it looked like me and Cagney we're going to win!

Cagney and I were going to do one final hit in unison. But right when we did, the two boys jumped up and somehow started spewing a hurricane of liquid from their heads, directly hitting both of us.
"CAGNEY!!" I screamed in pain.
"(Y/N)!!" He yelled back trying to reach for me, but it was to late...

This was it... I felt the life drain away from me and I saw the same thing happen to Cagney... We both fell over as we turned into our normal form.

He reached over and pulled me closer to him so he could hug me. "I'm sorry my (n/a)..." He lifted my chin so our eyes connected.
"It's not your fault Cagney..." I petted one of his delicate petals.
"(y/n)... I love you... ever since I first met you..." he smiled and kissed my forehead.
"I love you to Cagney..." I whispered closing my eyes and cuddling up to him. Then we both closed are eyes, and I could feel my body... my mind... and my soul... all of it slip away... but one thing I know for sure... my love for Cagney will never slip away...
