A Baker's Friend

The light flickered across Gabriel's face illuminating his light freckles and little dimples. He smiled with delight as we made our way through jump scare after jump scare. Seeing as we didn't have school the next day, and my mother was staying with her friend, we had no incentive to be quiet or even go to sleep. That's how I figure it went in Gabriel's mind. I was tired out of my mind, and had I been given my way we would've gone to bed hours ago.
I don't like horror movies, and I hate feeling scared. Okay, I'll admit it I'm a weenie. Gabriel got through it like a roller coaster, anticipating every turn. I on the other hand had my head buried in his shoulder clinging to his arm, with tears streaming down my face. It didn't seem like Gabriel noticed though. Ever since we were little he had loved scary movies, he loved the thrill, the adrenaline; it was one of the things I really admired about him.
The movie ticked down with regular horror movie antics, and it finally ended in Scooby-Doo fashion with the killer being unmasked.
"Are you ready for bed yet?" I whined. He looked at me eyes still alive with fire.
"We can't go to bed yet."
"Why not?" I said slumping over onto his shoulder.
"I'll wrestle you!" He said standing up causing me to fall onto the floor.
     "What?"
"I'll wrestle you, and winner chooses what we do next." He said starting to pace.
"That's not fair. You'll win no problem."
"Come on... I'm bored. And if you win we'll go straight to bed." He whined pulling on my arm.
     "Promise?"
"I promise." He crosses his hand over his heart. We stood across from each other, after I moved the coffee table out of the way. And began to walk in a small circle.
"Ready? And go!" Gabriel shouted jumping at me immediately. I dodged the first time, but I couldn't get a good lead, and when he came back, he pinned me straight to the ground. We landed him pinning my arms to the ground above my head, our chests pressed closely together, and his face inches from mine. My eyes opened wide in shock, and Gabriel, for once, was speechless. He stared down at me for a moment.
"Uh..." I started, but Gabriel leaned down and slammed his lips against mine. It was an awkward minute before he rolled off me.
"Why did you do that?" I asked sitting up, hugging my knees to my chest. He didn't answer me.
"Gabriel?" I said slightly louder, he ignored me sitting on the floor.
"Gabriel! Talk to me!" My voice filled with panic. He stood up without looking me in the eye, grabbed his jacket, and walked down the stairs and out the door. My eyes filled with tears, threatening to pour down my cheeks. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why he had kissed me, and why he had left. I must have sat there sobbing for hours. Minutes after my first kiss the person had run away and ignored me; how was I supposed to cope with that. Moreover it looked as if I had lost my best friend.
