A Baker's Fate
"So tell me again exactly what happened." Addy said pacing around her pink room. She had on a pink shirt with a gray cardigan, skinny blue jeans, and knee high brown boots. Addy had already asked me twice what had happened with Sebastian.
"I already told yo..."
"Don't sas me, tiny" She said turning quickly around. She walked over to me, and pulled her lamp to shine it in my eyes. "Now we can do this the easy way or the hard way."
"Addy..." I whined.
"I know. I'm getting carried away. I'm going to be a detective after college." She said her fierce facade fading away as she sat down with a smile. "I just want to know every detail."
"He said 'it's a date.' Then he ordered for me, sat us at a table alone, and insisted on paying." I said. Addy pulled out a notepad and scribbled something down.
"Interesting... Now did he offer to play guitar for you?"
"No he didn't." I said quickly.
"Hmm..." She said looking over her notes.
"Hmm... what."
"This was clearly flirty behavior. And yet he only did one move of the 'Sebastian Dating Duo."
"What's the Sebastian dating duo?" I mused curiously.
"His patented second date guarantee-er. He orders food for the girl, and then he finds a quiet place and plays guitar for them."
"Wait...Girls?" I asked.
"There's only been girls before." She shrugged.
"Case closed then." I said standing up. She flew from across the room pinning me back down on her window seat, the clothespin butterflies tickling my neck.
"Not so fast." She said firmly. "We still need to investigate his behavior. I'm going to show you two pictures. You tell me which one you saw on your date." She dragged a music stand out of her closet, and placed two close up pictures of Sebastian's face on it.
"Where did you get those pictures?" I asked genuinely scared.
"Instagram. Now don't change the subject." She pulled out one of those teachers extendable pointers and opened it menacingly. "Which of these two faces did you see?"
"They're exactly the sa...."
"To an outsider, maybe. But notice here in this smile. No dimples, and no wrinkles around his eyes. And here, see the increased dimples, and smile lines around his eyes. Notice the slightly scrunched up nose, and the faint sparkle in his eyes." She said banging her pointer against different parts of the picture.
"I don't know. I think I saw both."
"Interesting. Invite everyone to the bakery this Wednesday, and I'll investigate how he behaves around you." She said putting the stand back in her closet.
"That really won't be necessary." I said starting to stand again.
"I want to. Really." She said fading into an easy smile "he talks about you all the time, and he doesn't talk about much. We've been friends forever, and he's kind of a closed book. But it seems like he isn't showing you that side..." She said thoughtfully. "Now for the fun part of our visit." She said taking my hands and moving me to the floor. "So...How do you feel?" She said twirling a strand of the bow in her hair.
"About what?"
"About Sebastian?" She said rolling her shiny blue eyes.
"I don't know how I feel. He's become one of my closest friends, and I don't want to lose him. I lost Gabriel, and he introduced me to all his friends... and he's so sweet. And he has really nice eyes. And I like the way he gets dimples when he smiles. And when he laughs, or when he's goofing aroun..." I started rambling, and she cut me off.
"You can't think of it as losing your only friend, besides you have me now, you have to think about it as you and Sebastian. Not losing him, but getting to see so much more of him.
