Cut Gemstones

Here are the names of gemstone cuts.

When a gemstone is cut, it does not mean it is fake. Gemstones are not weak, but they are not too strong either, and can easily be cut by strong metals. Gemstomes are usually cut to make jewellery.

1. Cushion cut/pillow cut.

The cushion cut is a square or rectangle cut with rounded edges and pretty common.

2.  Emerald cut.

The Emerald cut is a rectangle shape with flat sides and step cuts on the corners. (The gemstone does not have to be an Emerald to be cut like this)

3. Pear cut.

As it says it the name, the pear cut is a pear shape with only 1 vertical. Also known as the 'teardrop' cut.

4. Oval cut.

The oval cut is rounded and longer than it is wide.

5. Marquise cut.

This type of cut is like an oval, but has pointed ends. When on it's side, it looks like a womans lips.

6. Princess Cut.

These cuts are square and have flat sides and pointed edges.

7. Baguette Cut.

These cuts are like emerald cuts, but longer and have pointed edges.

8. Rounded cut.

The most popular gemstone cut is the rounded cut. It has no edges, obviously.

9. Trillion Cut/Triangle Cut.

These cuts are triangular and are either have rounded edges like the cushion cut or have flat sides and step cuts on it's edges.

10. Heart cut.

These cuts are heart shaped and are a perfect symbol of love. They're not very popular, but they're still there.

That's all I know, but if I missed any, please let me know.
