🎩 Chapter 3: The Statue In The Woods 🎩
~~~~~~~~~Iris's POV~~~~~~~~~
"You sure you'll be okay on your own for a bit?" Ana asked as she picked up her back. "This is your first day here."
I gave her a nod. "I will, don't worry. You go have fun."
She let out a small sigh, then a wave before she left the house.
At the moment, I was downstairs on the couch. Ana and I had been catching up on the last few months, had been invited to the mall with a few friends, so I had the house all to myself.
I'll admit, it was a bit nerve wracking since I just moved here today, but I had to get used to it somehow.
It didn't take long for me to get bored though, and soon enough, the idea from earlier popped back into my head. I did miss flying, it was something I could barely ever do back at my home town.
The sun was already setting too.
It was now or never.
Walking out of the house and closer to the forest, I felt my wings spread out, feeling the wind softly crashing against them once they began to flutter. A smile grew on my face, and I was lifted off of my feet.
The feeling of being over the earth brought back so many memories, seeing everything much smaller than it normally seems. How it felt to have the wind flow through my hair, against my wings..
Recently my life's been pretty stressful. College wasn't the easiest thing in the world, and a lot of my teachers didn't make the classes any easier, or any fun for that matter. Not to mention the dorms were a chaotic mess, and my roommate wasn't the nicest person.
That's why I moved away. After making a bunch of calls, I was able to start my third year in Gravity Falls' college. It wasn't well known, but then again, the town itself was invisible to most people. Ana was gonna start college this year too, so it'd be some nice sister bonding time.
And I'd finally have clean bathrooms again.
All my stresses had been removed, and it was simply me and the air around me, just as I had hoped for the longest time now..
Peace..
Calm..
That is, until something strange caught my eye.
Normally I don't pay attention to my surroundings whenever I do this, but it was definitely something I didn't expect to see.
Not even in this town.
I floated down, and the object from earlier became larger with perspective, eventually large enough for me to describe the details.
It was a statue, obviously very old, broken with cracks and vines growing around it. The design itself filled me with curiosity; it was a triangle with one large eye, a tiny top hat, a small bow tie under eye, and held a cane with one hand while the other was extended forward for a hand shake.
Who would make something like this? And why leave it in the middle of the forest?
It had a menacing aura around it, one that made me afraid. But it was only a statue, and who had ever heard of a cursed statue?
"Looks like a dorito wearing 1920s clothing." I said to myself, softly poking the top of the hat. "And why just one eye? What is this..?"
Finally, my eyes drifted down the stone it stood on, something carved into it. I leaned closer, narrowing my eyes a little so I could see it better.
Want to make a deal..?
"A deal?" I thought to myself out loud, standing back up as I raised an eyebrow. "Is this a prank? Did Ana know I'd fly by here?"
Still, there was a cold breeze that filled the area. It was different than what I felt before, this felt.. dangerous..
As if a hurricane or a tornado was on its way..
Still, I was curious about the weird statue, and I began to think. A deal? A deal for what? Could I ask for anything? What did I want right now?
I thought about it for about a minute, yet there was only one thing that really stood out to me, and I let out a sigh. "Well, I'd really love it if my life wasn't as boring as it is."
Not long after saying that, a chuckle escaped my lips. "This is so stupid.. I'm now talking to a statue in the woods."
Eyes landing on the statue's extended hand, I gave the palm of it a small poke. "You are one freaky-looking object.." Then I grabbed it in the manor to shake one's hand, even though it was a statue and couldn't move.
Or.. so I thought..
Not long after I did so, my hand was suddenly lit in a harmless blue flame. I immediately went into a panic, pulling my hand away with so much force that I ended up falling to the ground.
My heart thumped loudly against my chest in fear as a yellow glow completely hid the statue from view. I crawled back as far as I could, my back eventually hitting a tree as I tried to calm my breathing.
However, my eyes widened as the glow suddenly faded away, revealing a very tall man standing in place, with a wide psychotic grin spread across his face.
"Then we have ourselves a deal~.."
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
