🌓 Chapter 9: Her Side Of The Story 🌗

~~~~~~~~~Lara's POV~~~~~~~~~
It had been six years since my plan crumbled down in flames.
Six years since.. I was able to start a semi-normal life..
After the last conversation with that Cipher boy, I ran away as far as I could, I wanted to keep them all safe from me. After the harm I had caused them, they were way better off with me gone.
So I moved up to Canada.
I was able to make a decent setting for myself, got myself a house, a job, entered a school, and sure it wasn't easy since I was still legally a child, but magic works in strange ways.
My mother's spirit continues to keep an eye on me, so I wasn't alone, and I got myself a little kitten for company as well. As for my father.. he had the same idea to move away as far as he could, and last I heard he was in England.
I do regret ever causing the things I did, but I was also relived that the family didn't have to deal with us anymore.
One day, when I got home from school, I got a note in the mail. It was anonymous, and the writing was one I didn't recognize. It was neat, but the thought of it being a mystery messenger sent shivers up my spine..
"To Lara Riverton,
There has been a disturbance back in your home town of Gravity Falls, and it would be appreciated if you came back to the town, we'd like to speak with you."
I had many obvious questions; I hadn't been to Gravity Falls in years, so how did they know who I was..?
Unless.. What if that family was asking for me..?
I didn't want to agree, but curiosity wouldn't let me deny, so I packed up a few things, got my cat and started my journey to the town where nightmares live.
Now that I was officially eighteen, getting an apartment for myself was a lot easier. I hadn't been back home in so long, so I decided to stay here until my last school year was over, and transferred to this town's high school along with getting myself a small apartment.
Things had been going well for the next few weeks, no one even noticed me, I was okay in my own small world, just like I wanted.
Even so, I didn't have the courage to ask that family about the note. Besides, if they hadn't walked up to me and asked me about it, then it wasn't theirs to begin with.
So who sent me that..?
I had no clue..
Every night I'd go into the woods and try to search for something, anything. I didn't know what I searched for, but I knew I hadn't found it yet. However, one night the winter breeze was so strong that I lost my jacket.
Maybe it was a coincidence, or maybe it was just karma catching up to me, but that was the same night that he saw me again..
I tried to run away, I didn't want to be near him, I realized it was a mistake to stay here; I wasn't wanted here, wasn't needed here.
But I ended up passing out from the cold, and when I woke up, they were all around me. I could feel their anger and fear pulsing with their heartbeats as they glared at me, but eventually they left me alone with Gabriel.
I still felt so guilty over everything, especially him..
But instead of him yelling at me and fighting me, he simply gave me some food and let me leave.
After that, he asked to talk with in town, and although I didn't want to, I agreed anyways. I didn't want to start anymore conflict.
Surprisingly enough though, I.. we had a nice time..!
We talked a lot, about a lot of things. It was as if six years ago never even happened. As if we were simply old friends catching up.
As I lied down on my couch and stared up at the ceiling, my mind began remembering all that had happened, both good and bad.
Maybe..
Maybe that's what I was looking for..?
It was definitely something I liked, and I don't regret agreeing to speak to him. He even forgave me, which I didn't deserve..
...
But.. no..
That wasn't it, that wasn't what brought me here..
There was something else, something.. bad..
I could feel it..
I didn't like it..
But I couldn't do anything without knowing what it was, what was I suppose to do? Take a wild guess and act out of luck?
I simply had to look more, even if I didn't know what to look for.
That's when a shiver crawled up my spine, a dark sensation surrounded my home. I sat up, looking around as I gripped my arms, unsure of whatever was around me.
Until..
"I might be able to help with that!"
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
❤️❤️❤️
