🌓 Chapter 6: Morning 🌗

~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
It was only six in the morning; Jade, Fiona, Jake, and Cassie were all wide awake, staring at the two unconscious teens.
Gabe was in normal conditions now, peacefully sleeping against the wall, but Lara was far worse. Her skin was pale, her lips slightly purple from the cold, hair and clothes slightly wet from the melting snow.
Fiona anxiously tapped her heal against the floor, her arms crossed as she glared at the sleeping people.
"Fi, please calm down.." Jade had a worried expression on her face, fiddling with a few strands of hair.
She only returned a sharper glare however. "I'll calm down when Gabe explains why he brought this bitch back."
Walking over, Cassie placed a hand on Fi's shoulder, her smile small. "We'll know when he wakes up, but we need to let them recover.."
Her cheeks growing a bit pink at the interaction, Fiona let out a small huff, looking away. "Yeah, whatever."
A groan then escaped Gabe's lips, his eyes opening as he flinched a bit at the sunlight that beamed from the window. He grabbed his glasses which were beside them, putting them on and looking at everyone, who stared back at him.
He then let out a yawn, stretching his arms. "Morning..."
Jade smiled a bit. "Morning, Gabe.. How do you feel..?"
"Cold.. tired.. hungry.. I'd like some pancakes.."
"You can have some pancakes after you talk." Fiona spoke in a cold tone.
However, Gabe and Fi argued so much he'd grown immune to her bitterness, same for her with him. "What do you mean?"
She pointed at the young girl who was still asleep, gripping the blanket that covered her. Gabe's expression quickly grew serious, and let out a sigh after a few seconds. "I woke up a few hours and saw footprints in the snow. After a while, I saw her, and she fainted so I brought her here."
"You do realize that this girl tried to kill us, right?"
"I'm very aware of that." Gabe stretched his arms above his head before standing up. "Which is why we should keep an eye on her. It would be too dangerous to just let her roam around as she pleased, am I wrong?"
Fi only growled in response, but Jade quickly spoke instead. "You do have a point, but.. what if she attacks us..?"
"We've been training all this time, five against one, I think we'll be okay."
However, they all grew a little pale as a groan escaped the girl's lips, seeing her green eyes open. She gripped the blanket that covered her with a small shudder, sitting up and looking around. Her eyes widened a little at the sight of everyone, backing away until her back hit the wall.
No one said anything, not for a while, until Gabe took a stop forward. "Hey.."
He didn't want to speak to her, especially not after all she did to them. But he had a lot of questions that he craved the answers for. So he didn't really have a choice but to try and get the answers he needed.
She stared at him for a while, then looked down at her knees. She didn't speak speak though, just stared down in complete silence.
Jake checked his watch before tapping Jade's shoulder, showing her the time as she looked at the others. "Guys, we should be heading back home, Mom and Dad will get worried.."
"You guys go, I'll keep an eye on her." Gabe replied as he fixed his glasses.
Jade nodded in understanding, and although they were a bit worried, left the treehouse.
After a few minutes went by, she finally spoke. "I... broke it..."
He looked over, raising an eyebrow, though she hadn't moved at all, and heard her mutter. "I broke my promise... o-of never having you see me again..."
"So you do remember us then? I was starting to think you had amnesia or something."
She shook her head, still staring down with her tail wrapped around herself, ears flattened back. For another minute, only silence was heard, then he crossed his arms.
"Why were you at my high school yesterday?"
She finally looked up, hesitating a little. "... I've recently moved here, I-I'm a new student..."
"What happened to staying away from us?"
"It was the only place I could go to..."
"Mm."
Another moment of silence, things couldn't possibly get more awkward. Her stomach then growled, slightly gripping her blanket, to which Gabe glanced over. He then grabbed a small granola bar from his bag, something he always kept incase he ever got too hungry, and offered it to her. "Here."
"Huh..?"
"Take it."
She stared at it for a few seconds, then took the granola bar and opened the wrapper. "Thank you..."
"... yeah.."
