🌓 Chapter 2: A Normal Day? 🌗
~~~~~~~~~Third Person POV~~~~~~~~~
Taking a few books from his locker, Gabe's mind got lost in thoughts, the memories from six years ago.
Before it all happened, he didn't believe in magic. He considered magic to be a silly word that ignorant people used whenever something was not explained. But everything had an explanation, a source. Nothing just appeared because it did.
Now?
Now he's learned that magic and science can be used to help the other. Magic can help science, and science can explain magic, they work as one, and there's no one without another.
He was also introduced to a whole new area of science, a paranormal surface that contains hundreds of different creatures, all which he wanted to explore and discover.
So although what happened years ago was bad for several reasons, they've all learned to move on and live with the supernatural.
Of course, not everything can be good...
"Hey, four eyes~!" Gabe was startled a bit when someone suddenly slammed his locker shut, his expression quickly growing annoyed at the sight of who was now beside him.
Every school had a bully, as unfortunate as it was, and in this case, Wes Holland made sure to try to pick on Gabe at least twice a day.
Well, key word: try.
Sure, he wasn't much of a fighter, but Gabe would damn himself to hell if he ever let someone as idiotic as Wes walk all over him, and although he always did his best not to, he wasn't afraid to throw punches if needed.
"I'm not in the mood today, Wes."
"Does it look like I care, pipsqueak?" He cracked his knuckles, growling under his breath. "I didn't appreciate you getting me in trouble with the principal."
"How sad." Gabe closed his locker, starting to walk away as Wes quickly followed.
"Don't think I'm letting you off the hook!"
There was a spark in his eyes, a sudden flash of yellow as Gabe bared his teeth in anger, but before anything could happen, Jade was already running over.
It had become her job to stop whatever fight might happen; Gabe versus a bully, Fiona versus a bully, heck even just Gave versus Fiona, and those were the messiest ones.
She placed a hand on her brother's shoulder. "Gabe, class is about to start, we don't have time for this."
He wanted to just follow Jade away, he really didn't have the energy to argue today, but as he was about to leave, Wes harshly grabbed his shoulder, yanking him back.
At that moment, Gabe's eyes shot to yellow, the thin slits in his eyes burning in pure rage. The floor underneath Wes was quickly covered in ice, and sharp icicles rose from the ground at fast speeds. Fortunately for him, only his clothes got stabbed with them.
Jade quickly shook Gabe by his arm. "Gabriel!"
As if snapping back from a daze, he looked at what had just happened, confused to why he would do such a thing. He would normally argue, and fight with his own fists if necessary, but he rarely used his powers for defense, at least against bullies.
After a few seconds of silence, he took a dee breath, and began walking away. "Let's go."
Jaiden stared at the scene, a bit nervous at what had happened, before quickly running after her brother.
The rest of his hours were spent questioning what the hell happened that morning. He wasn't even angry at Wes, just tired because of that night.
As he sat down with his lunch at the cafeteria, he let out a heavy sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. The rest of their small group sat around the table, Jade looking at him worried.
"Gabe..? How do you feel..?"
"Fine."
That came out colder than he expected, Jade fiddling with a stand of hair as she shrunk a bit in her set, the others looking over in confusion.
"Uh, something up your ass, dude? Why are you so angry?" Fi asked as she took off her winter jacket, wrapping it around her waist.
He took off his glasses with a sigh, taking out a small wipe to clean them. "Sorry, I just.. I don't know what's wrong with me today.."
Jake raised his arms to speak. "Anything you want to talk about?"
Gave shook his head, putting his glasses back on his face. However, at that moment, his head began to ache, a thumping sound forcing his eyes to close at the sudden pain.
"I.. n-need to go.."
Before they could stop him, he quickly left the table to find the bathroom, his vision slowly growing hazy with every second that passed.
The pain got so unbearable that he was forced to lean against the lockers, tightly gripping his head as he forced his eyes shut. However, when he opened his eyes again, the pain finally stopped.
But everything was now different.
No one was around, not a single soul, he was completely alone. Everything around him were different shades of gray, and a few yellow eyeballs covered some of the surfaces.
"What the hell...?!"
