🌓 Chapter 18: What I Know 🌗

~~~~~~~~~Gabe's POV~~~~~~~~~
Three weeks had passed since everything. We were fully healed, and were allowed to go back to school, though we made a promise to take things easy. A few people asked about what happened in the forest, but we made sure not to share too many details.
What did scare me was that Wes was nowhere in the school. It's not like I was expecting him to try and fight me again, but the fact that he wasn't here today was worrisome, and it made my mind wander with the possibilities.
The type of magic he know had was almost exact to the one Lara told us Courtney had, and that sort of magic is different to master.
Fire, water, earth, and air were the most common forms of magic, and most people had the base forms of these. Magic such as ice, lava, or star powered are considered part of the core four, but are way more advanced than the normal type, which is why my dad and aunt are both very powerful compared to other humans. For earth, the ability to connect with nature instead of manipulating it gives you a major advantage, so my other aunt is also considered more powerful that others.
Electric powers work the same way. They are a part of the air core, just more powered up, and more difficult to control. However, out of the four powerups, the electric energy is the rarest to have, and little to nothing is known about them.
Beyond the core four, there's dark magic, and light magic. Dark magic is reserved for demons and monsters. Because of Bill Cipher being my grandfather, all of us got at least a little of his dark magic, Jade getting so much that it is her main element.
As for light magic, it is the most rarest one that exists, as far as we know. It can only be inherited by a god or an angel, and those are barely ever on Earth. My uncle Noah once told us that it was because they think they're too 'fancy' to come down here, so that's also a thing.
There was no information about light magic anywhere, so I've been planning to ask Bill the next time he visits.
"What's this?" I jumped as a new voice suddenly spoke beside me, seeing Lara quickly jumped back nervously. "S-sorry, I didn't mean to scare you!"
"Heh, it's fine." I stood up from my desk, realizing that the class had ended, and grabbing my journal.
She glanced down at it, her head tilting a little in curiosity. "You seemed really into whatever you were reading."
I lifted up my journal so she could see it better. "I was just reviewing some things I've written."
"You write?"
"Well, it's more of simply saving information I find in here." I placed the journal back in my bag. "I try to collect as much information about this town as I can."
"That's pretty cool!"
"Yeah, we've definitely found a lot of weird stuff though."
"So the usual."
We both chuckled at her remark before walking out of the classroom. It was a bit surprising, but Lara came by our house everyday while we were recovering to see how we were doing, even though she was still recovering herself. I don't mean it as a bad thing; if anything, I kinda like seeing her everyday..
Not long after, Jade ran up to me with her usual smile. "Hey, Cassie suggested we went over to Strawberry Boutique for some desserts, you wanna join?"
"Sure, we need a break anyways."
"Alright, we'll be waiting at the gates!" With that, she ran off.
Placing my books back into my locker, I began walking to the gates, until I noticed Lara wasn't following, making me look back over as I raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you coming?"
"H-huh?"
"To Strawberry Boutique."
"Oh, I- I don't want to be a bother.."
"Bother?" I walked back over to her, not realizing the small smile that had grown on my face.
"You're not a bother, Lara. When you helped us against Wes, you became one of the group. You're one of us now."
She stared at me for a while, a soft pink across her cheek, the smiled a bit shyly. "Well, i-it'd be rude to say no.."
The warm feeling from before came back to me when she smiled. I was starting to understand the meaning, especially when I gave her that smile. I didn't smile much to people, at least not those who weren't family, but this girl, she..
...
I don't know, she just.. made me happy.. I don't know how or why, but I liked it..
I.. liked her..
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
❤️❤️❤️
