🐍Chapter 2: Dislike🐍
~~~~~~~~~Gabe's POV~~~~~~~~~
Two full weeks had passed.
And I hated it here!
There was barely anything to do!
Not to mention, the people in town were literally the dummest people in the entire planet!!
And worst of all, the only thing that brought people any attention to the town were its weird ghost stories about legends and monsters.
Yeah, I don't believe them either.
Jade has always believed otherwise, but magic isn't real. They're just a dumb excuse ignorant people use to explain things that are yet to be studied and discovered. But everything has an explanation, it just takes some time to learn it.
Something you should know about our family, we're pretty rich. My parents had started their own restaurant in Michigan when Jade and I were only one, and it was really popular for the ten years they ran it.
Since we had to move though, they decided to reopen it in town, and it got popular incredibly fast.
Right now, Jade and I sat at one of the booths of the restaurant. Sahara sat on Jade's lap, and our cousin Fi sat beside them, along with her siblings Simon and Tara.
Our family has always been pretty close, and have family gatherings often; so as a result, Fiona Sofía Cipher Anderson, or Fi, has been Jade's best friend since birth.
She's one year younger than us, and is the oldest of the three siblings. She has the same skin as me, but her hair's entirely black/dark brown, her bangs dyed in a dark indigo purple, and got my uncle's bright green eyes.
Simon Manuel is two years younger than her, with light skin, brown eyes, and dark pink hair like me. A few of us actually had the same hair mutation, which I found very odd. He's a lot more passive than Fi, and a bit of an awkward geek, but he likes spending time with me since we're the only boys.
The youngest is Tara Denise, one year younger than Simon, who's a really calm girl. Like us, her hair's pink, with green eyes and light skin, and loves the ocean more than everyone I've ever met.
Which is strange, considering they used to live in New York.
Their parents were also really successful people. My aunt was a really famous fantasy author, and has sold more books than I can count, while my uncle owns his own huge video game company.
While they all chatted, I simply sketched new rocket ideas in my hTab. That is, until Jade snatched it from me, knocking me out of my own little world. "Hey!"
"Gabe, you've been sitting in silence here for the past hour! At least talk to us for a bit!"
I leaned back, crossing my arms. "There's nothing for me to talk about."
"How has the town been treating you?" Fi asked, throwing a French fry into her mouth.
"As you would expect."
She turned to me, raising an eyebrow. Jade gave an awkward smile, her arms around Sahara. "He doesn't like it very much.."
"What's not to like though?" I turned to Simon as he spoke. "The people here are all really nice! And there's even an arcade in town, we barely have those nowadays!"
"Yeah, cuz they're as old as the dinosaurs." Tara replied, leaning back as she texted on her phone.
"I still think they're cool."
"It has many animals, animals are pretty!" Sahara added, Jade giggling a bit.
A sigh escaped my lips. "Well, I'm not happy about it. I wish we hadn't moved." I turned to Jade. "Meaning you owe me ten bucks."
"Gabriel, you've barely left home! How do you know this place is as bad as you think?"
"Because! Going to a common city to a barely known tiny town in the middle of the woods isn't the change I asked for! I didn't want a change!!"
I hadn't noticed the tone of my voice until I saw a few people looking at me. With another sigh, I stood up and grabbed my hTap and bag. "Let Mom and Dad know I'm heading home."
Without waiting for an answer, I walked out of the restaurant.
You may think I'm just being a brat right now, and maybe you're right. But for the past few years, even before Sahara was born, I've always felt like my parents have been hiding something from us. Something really big.
I've asked about it a few times, but they always change the subject. It's unfair!
We barely know anything about any of our grandparents. The only things we know are that they died when our parents were pretty young.
As for who they are, or what they did in life?
Nothing. No information whatsoever.
I've tried searching for files, or even just some facts online, but nope.
It's frustrating! I wanna know what they're hiding, they're my parents! They should trust me!
Groaning in frustration at the thought, I stuck my hands into my pockets, walking through the woods in way to the house. I still got lost here since there wasn't an actual path, but I've always been pretty good with directions.
However, I grew a little nervous as a low growl was heard from somewhere. I looked around, it was probably just some raccoon or something.
As I was about to continue walking though, the same growl was heard, only louder.
I grew pale as the ground shook a little for a second at a time, a shadow looming over me. I gripped my bag, turning around to see a large beast with sharp claws and teeth, its eyes white without pupils, growling at me.
What the hell?!?
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
❤️❤️❤️
