It had been days...

Three...

Maybe four...

I'm not even sure yet...

Right now we were suppose to be asleep, but all the stress was getting to me... I rested against the brick wall, gripping the long sweater sleeves...

Jake had let me keep his sweater, even though I kept trying to hand it back because I felt bad...

Cassie continued to give us good food from the unsanitary slop Lara left for us, which at least kept us full and healthy...

They showed me a few games that they invented to pass the hours...

But... it just wasn't good...

I miss my home...

I miss my family

I miss my friends...

What if I never see them again...?

W-what if-

I jumped a bit as a soft clank was heard from nearby, looking over to see Jake sitting behind the bars that separated our cells..

Sniffling a bit, I shifted over to face him. "H-hey.."

"Need an ear to vent..?" He asked.. Sometimes it was strange to talk with him since he never actually spoke, and it was oddly quiet in the room, but I didn't mind it much..

I stared at him for a bit, then scooted over so we'd be closer.. "I-I'm just.. thinking too much.."

"What about..?"

"... my family.. I really miss them.."

Jake stared at me for a while, I could tell he was thinking of what to do, what to say..

He then turned to me again with a small smile. "How are they like..?" Thinking for a bit, I looked down at the ground.

"Well... First there's my mother... She's pretty silly and always makes us laugh... She also cooks amazing, and we watch a lot of shows together..."

"She seems really cool.."

"She is... My dad is the more cautious one, he's really kind to everyone, which Mom says it's the reason they're together... And they both co-own their own restaurant..."

I leaned back against the wall, continuing to speak. "Then there's my twin Gabe... He was actually born a month before me for medical reasons, but he's the smartest person I've ever known... Sometimes he speaks before thinking, but he's a good guy..."

"He sounds like one.."

"Yeah... And then there's my little sister Sahara... She's a fiery soul, always hyper and up to play... She really lights up the mood, always..."

Jake made the chuckling movement, and I hadn't noticed the smile that had grown on my face as I described them. Huh, I guess that was his plan.

"We also visit my aunts and uncles often, so I'm close friends with all of my cousins.. Fiona's my best friend.." I then looked over at him, a bit curious. "What about you..? How was your family..?"

His expression fell a bit, and I regretted my words. Right, Cassie said his dad wasn't really a good guy..

I was about to apologize, when he turned to me once more, raising his hands to speak. "My mother was a very nice person, a doctor.. She always tried to help all of her patients, even if they couldn't afford the right treatments.."

"She sounds very kind.."

He nodded with a smile, though it was sort of sad, hesitating before raising his arms again. "Unfortunately, she got very sick one day, and although we did all we could to help, it wasn't enough.. She passed away a few months later.."

I gripped the sweater sleeves, feeling bad. "... I'm really sorry about that.."

"Don't be.. I'll spear the details for the rest, but we lost a lot of money, my dad didn't handle it well, and became very aggressive.. That's when Lara took me here.."

I felt horrible.. I didn't think things would turn out so bad for him, he deserved better..

"... well, when we get out of here, I promise your life will be better.. Our house is big, we have room for you and Cassie.."

"You sure you're okay with it..?"

I nodded with a smile, and he smiled back. Jake was such a nice guy, and I really appreciate him trying to cheer me up..

"Aww, this is adorable!!" We both tensed at Cassie's voice, seeing her sitting against her cell bars with a smile. "You two are so cute together!!"

I felt my cheeks heat up a bit, but definitely not as much as Jake, who tried to hide his bright red face in his shirt out of embarrassment. Though I thought it was adorable, I held in my giggle, placing my hand on his shoulder. "It's okay, Jake..!"

He peeked up at me, then glared at Cassie who only laughed, proud of her work. I simply rolled my eyes, though they weren't related, they basically acted like siblings.

Obviously I wasn't happy being locked up against my will, but I am glad that I got these two as my new friends..

Hopefully we'll all escape soon, together.
