~~~~~~~~~Sage's POV~~~~~~~~~

It had been hours since we left, and I was starting to get tired. We had no idea where these people lived!

I let out a sigh. "Where the hell could they be?!?"

"They're around here somewhere, calm down." Noah responded, making me groan. I pulled out my phone to keep me away from even more boredom. "Sage, what are you doing?"

"Scrolling through Instagram."

"We're walking, you're gonna hit a pole or something." He replied with an annoyed tone.

I rolled my eyes. "If I do, it'll be my problem."

We walked around for a bit, and on the corner of my eye, I noticed a cute little cafe. A young boy walked out, turning the open sign to closed. His back was facing me, so I couldn't see his face. I looked back down to my phone, not really caring as I walked.

"SAGE!!!"

I was brought back to reality when I heard Noah yell my name. I looked up to see I was in the middle of the road, a large truck only a few yards away. My eyes widened, too shocked to actually move.

I had been run over before. Sure it hurt like hell, but I'll survive.

However, I was suddenly tackled out of the way by a large force, the truck passing by and stopping soon after.

"A-are you ok?!?" I heard an unfamiliar voice speak. I looked up, my eyes meeting two bright blue ones staring back at me with concern.

From his messy hair and clothes, I quickly noticed it was the boy from the cafe. I quickly shook my head. "Y-yeah, I'm fine."

He gently grabbed my arm, helping me up to my feet. "Are you s-sure? Y-you're not hurt?"

"No, I'm okay."

He let out a soft sigh of relief, and I grew confused. Was he worried about me? Why? I had never seen him before today! Before now!!!

I then felt arms wrap around me, quickly knowing it was Noah. "You scared me half to death!!!"

I chuckled a bit awkwardly. "Uh, sorry?"

I then felt my phone vibrate in my hand, making me look at it.

"⚠️Target detected.⚠️"

My eyes widened a little before looking at the boy. No wonder he saved me, he's the enemy, he's already trying to gain my trust!!!

"Try to be careful next time, miss..." He said with a small smile before starting to walk away. I elbowed Noah, gesturing to my phone, making him look at me in surprise.

We went into an alley, I turned into my fox form as Noah turned into his hawk form, both of us invisible and inaudible to people, quickly picking up the boy's scent and following him.

Eventually, we made it to a nice looking modern house, but looks can always be deceiving.

Once he entered the house, my brother and I went over to one of the windows, looking inside. A little girl with long blonde hair and blue eyes hugged the boy while grinning joyfully from ear to ear.

I tilted my head in confusion.

No, don't buy their shit, Sage. This could all just a facade.
